i was wondering if RIM will change this annoying reboot each time you install something... It's not like the iPhone you can download an apps just for fun, with BB you have to think that you don't need your phone during 5 minutes, that nobody is going to call you, and it's so annoying.I think i would install so much more application without the automatic reboot.
View 4 RepliesWhen i reboot my phone after I installed a few upgrades to some applications, as usual.I was asked to reboot.It restarted the phone, however does not completly reboot back to my home screen. Instead, it is stuck on my Network Provider's screen...(o2 Welcome Screen)Im guessing it is still finishing the installation of some upgrades, but it has been like this all night.
I did a baterry pull, and took out the SIM Card and memory card, however it still seems to be stuck on the Network Provider's home screen.I had this issue last time, and I was advised from another forum to turn off the phone from the Off button on the phone, pull the battery and memory card, reinsert the battery without the memory card.This worked perfectly last time. Now, while the welcome screen is showing, if i press the off button, it will "Verify Security Software" and turn off.

I just got a BB 8900 and I love it, but there is something that annoys me. When I set my home screen picture and then reboot for whatever reason, the home screen wallpaper reverts back to the default. How do I prevent that from happening?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy handset crashed due to loading 3rrd party applications. I get a message on the screen 'Reload Software:552' when I switch on the handset. The handset cannot be recognized by the desktop manager when it is plugged in. The handset ceases all its functions till the OS is restored or retrieved. One option is to go to the authorized service centre. But that is hundreds of miles away for from where I stay. Is there any other way that I can personally work on retrieving it.

It goes off and when I press the power button, the red light comes one, the backlit screen with the hourglass comes on and then it goes off again. A little while later, it starts the cycle over again, backlit blank screen, hourglass spins, bb shuts off.

Now My carrier is Airtel and I have no data plan with my carrier.When I try to connect my phone with WiFi, Internet is working fine in browsers (Both in Internet explorer and Opera) but applications like gmail, facebook are not working. I've had my BB 8900 for 1 week and I'm already thinking it is the single worst thing I've ever purchased.I've got the problem whereby I cannot download apps from BBAW (18 icon and skysports - one paid for, the other free). I've tried every fix found on forums and from google'ing the problem. What works for some is not working for me. I'm getting the error "There was a problem during installation. try again" Then:Blackberry App World is having trouble connecting to the Blackberry App World server. Verify your network connections and try again." BBAW then closes and nada.I've tried updating my BB, changing me BB id, paypal logon, resetting the BBAW using the ALT RST thingy, tried wireless on, wireless off, turning all connections off, restarting the device, hard reset, soft reset, logging out of BBAW, closing the app etc. Tried all the KB's found online and un/reinstallign BBAW. I've googled this for the last 3 days, constantly. Is there anything else I can try before I smash what started to be a great phone into pieces on the back of the useless BBAW.

Am I correct that she need to download "BlackBerry App World" first? Assuming that this IS the case I tried this but we get an error message stating her device is not compatible??

Ever since I downloaded something like "Blackberry OS version 5" from the web, and updated my device using the desktop manager, I have been unable to download new apps.Somehow I managed to get BBM back on -- the phone would have been useless otherwise -- but no more apps will get downloaded.Everything seems to work, whether I download via the web, or use desktop manager to install the apps, there are no errors and it says it worked -- but there is no icon for the app in any of the folders.For example, BB App world: The desktop manager says it is installed, but it's not accessible because there is no icon anywhere.My carrier say they can't help me any further as it's a device issue.I have got "show all" on, so the icons are definitely not hidden.I have tried a battery pull dozens of times.I have tried a backup using desktop manager, then factory reset the device, then restored -- several times.I have tried uninstalling the apps through desktop manager and installing them again.I don't understand what settings are supposed to be changed after I do a factory reset and restore from backup.

I downloaded the new system update, now my phone is in a constant recovery reboot saying installing system update. I press the power button plus the volume up and i can see what it is installing it goes through the same thing over and over and just reboots back in the recovery booting again when its done installing...what is causing this i cant do a system reset either it wont let me (volume up +home+power ) does not work , removing the batter does not work (soft reset)...

I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?

So I thought it would be great to have it and decided to start the installation. After 2 hours of installing the new OS (4.6.1) I noticed that the process hadn't advanced anything more than it was the last time I checked. I waited for an hour but it remained in the same part of the installation. I had to leave so I unplugged my cellphone after getting tired of this and noticed that my Blackberry stopped working. However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.

i am unable to install many Qt apps from the nokia store. When ever i try to install Qt apps on my phone, it ask me for installing the package but the installation stops during ' preparing installation' and does not go through ' finalising installation'. After this i does find the nokia smart installer icon but when i click on it, it says ' no installation pending'. I can also find the application in application manager but can't find its icon anywhere. Some Qt apps does install properly but many including wellness diary, nokia drop, etc doesn't install. My device is Nokia X6 16 GB and i have latest firmware and all Qt components installed on my device.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI didn't install Galaxy TTS because I don't use S-Voice and I want to save storage space and cut down on the number of running processes. That's why I uninstalled all the updates and disabled it. The same goes for a number of other Samsung and other apps. But Galaxy Apps has just updated itself and proceeded to install TTS and some other stuff that I didn't want. I can uninstall them again but if I've been refusing to install the updates, why would Samsung think it was ok to install them anyway?
