BB Curve 8900 :: Sound Quality And Volume Of The 8900 Equal To Or Greater Than The 8300
May 22, 2010
I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,

I recently purchased a blackberry 8900 and am trying to upgrade the software to the newest version (5.0 I assume). However whenever I check for updates via the blackberry site the desktop manger pops up and does not offer this upgrade. All it says it 4.6.1 (current) and the rest are downgrades, so I'm not quite sure what I need to do to get the new OS to even appear, much less download it and work.
yesterday I got a phone call, so my ringtone was ringing and then suddenly the sound of the ringtone become very small. I thought it was a temporary problem. After finished talking on the phone, I tried to call to my 8900 and the ringtone become small like it was. Then I tried battery pull. Test the ring again and still the same. I also tried to play music and the sound is as small as the ringtone. All volume level already at the highest but all music and ringtones are so small, they cannot go any louder.
I have transferred my videos from my phone to my PC, and the video looks great, but there is no audio. How do I fix this? I really want to be able to send the video to family and it is of course too big to email from the phone. I tried installing VLC, but it didn't work that way either. Does anyone know how to fix this?
This is my first post on the forums, but I do think I'm a fairly knowledgable BB user. Had 3 BBs over the course of a few years, so I can usually rectify small problems as they arise. However I've recently come across something that I am not sure how to solve, or maybe it is not fixable- I do not know.Basically my phone has been making a constant heartbeat sound when I make or receive calls. Doesn't matter if it is on speakerphone, or the normal phone. Its also not just a slightly annoying noise in the background, it cuts off the person on the other end and breaks up their speech. Essentially kills any phone conversation because I cannot understand the other person. I am not sure if the other person can hear me or not. This has been going on for about 3 days now, and is very irritating.I would like to find a way to fix it rather than get a new one. My old pearl's trackball died, so I had to get a new phone, which led me to the 8900. The keyboard on that quit working, so I got a new 8900, which was luckily just under the one year warranty. Now this one is having this problem, but its just a few weeks outside the stupid 3 month warranty on replacements. I'm fed up with ATT and BB because of these device failures, and also because ATT never provided me with my $100 rebate, even after complaining to corporate. It's just a situation where I feel robbed in a way, and just want to find a way to get my current phone to work thru the rest of my contract so I can upgrade to a better device.Any suggestions of how to rid myself of the heartbeat noise? I'd really appreciate it.
since I've upated my BB 8900 to 5.0.0.592 (official release of my provider), the alarm clock is not ringing when the phone is locked.
When it's unlocked there is no problem and the alarm is sounding.
But when it's locked it does only display an information about the alarm on the screen, but no sound :smileysad: How can I fix that? I'dont want to get too late too often!
I've recently been getting problems with the profiles it makes a sound for everything except emails. I used to be able to fix this with a battery pull and it might work for maybe 2 or 3 hours but now its just reffusing to work at all I'm running 8900/5.0.0.238.
I'm not sure if this happened after my upgrade to .592, but when I hang up after a call or close the camera, I hear the country song "Your Man". It is so weird. I have my profile as Vibrate, event sounds off, even turned it to silent, it still plays.
Hello everyone, i have a serious problem with updating my OS. am currently using the 4.6v and i want to update it to v5.0 but every time i try to update it from desktop manager it seems that it cant find the files to update it, it just show the old version4.6 and i tried download the update from many websites and it still doesn't want to show it on the Desktop manager. And when i tried the application loader it says the i have the latest software and its still v4.6
I have the BlackBerry Curve 8900 for AT&T and I have recently noticed that there is a 5.0 Update for basically the most recent BlackBerry's that have came out and I wanted to know if I will be able to get this 5.0 Update because it looks much better then the regular Version you get when you get the BlackBerry Curve 8900.
what is the difference between 8900 trackball and 9000 trackball.and what if i have installed 9000 trackball in my 8900.In fact 9000 trackball is bit smother and crispier, can i use it on 8900
I've had my Blackberry for over six months, but I've always had a problem with the quality/clarity of the audio in incoming phone calls. It's very difficult to understand the person on the other end -- particularly, but not only, if the person has an accent of any sort. I want to use the Blackberry as my primary phone, but I can't "get" half of what my callers are saying to me.
I have noticed that my ringtones and alarms play at a lower quality than they did before. My first thought was that my speakers were damaged and affecting the sound quality, but when I play music and even my ringtones in the media player the quality is as fine as ever. However the same ringtones, when played automatically either as an alarm or ringtone have a noticeably lower quality
my 8900 crashed on me today and they are replacing it.I decided to try the 9700 while I wait for the 8900.I was initially going to just sell the 8900 replacement on eBay and enjoy my new 9700.However, I am slightly disappointed with the 9700.I love the keyboard over the 8900.I also love the track pad and I thought I would hate it.What I don't like about the 9700 is the 3G seems to be about as slow as the EDGE. I don't use the browser much anyways so it is not much of a feature for me.Not sure if the better feeling keyboard and track pad is worth the price of a new $400 phone.Am I missing something about the 9700?
Okay, Blackberry Curve 8350 Sprint and uh, it's black.I just got it in the mail and activated it today, but, I can't get my volume buttons on the side to change the volume. But, when it's in sleep mode, it lights up if I press the volume buttons, but, it doesn't actually change the volume.
Leaked or official, what's the best os? I tried .681 and .822, and they are giving me problems. I also hated the fact that they removed the lock option. I'm currently running official .822 but its mighty slow and battery is draining. I need to downgrade to something but i dont know which one to pick.
My phone is a curve 8900.......Okay, so yesterday around noon, my bbm starts freezin up in between chats, so I took the phone off and then turned it back on a few times. Seemed to be working fine, though I didnt use bbm again for the rest of the day, that on/off was frustrating enough.....I went to bed last night and had at least one bar of charge. When I woke up this morning the phone is off. Strange....because sometimes I go to bed with the battery on red and it lasts thru the nite. Okay, so I proceed to press the end call button to turn on the phone....nothing... Next move, remove and replace battery and sim card....still nothing...next step......put the phone to charge.... its been charging for two hours now and still nothing...... the red light to the top left of the phone is on & thats it... the phone still is nt coming on..!
This is probably a question that can be easily answered. Since now the 8520/30 has an official 5.0, is the 8900 going to get it? I ask because of the whole "not selling 8900's anymore".
My SSID appears on my display screen beside my carriers name, and UMA replaces edge with the WI-FI logo lit up (white on the left side and black on the right) but when I open the browser the wi-fi logo is grayed out on the top right hand corner (Still UMA). Does this mean I'm connected to wi-fi :S
I think I have had this issue since I upgraded to os 5 .411. What happens is while my screen's black or even in standby, the backlight goes on by itself for a few seconds. This interrupts even auto standby. My uncles 8900 didn't have this issue till yesterday when I upgr his bb to os 5 as well. I'm forced to turn my bb upside down at nighttime.
it seems with my new 8900 i picked up i cannot update to any os other than stock 4.6 ver(.231) or downgrade to(.114) to any other version. I have reinstalled dm to the current version and still nothing. I have download multiple new 5.0 os(.348-.411) and deleted the vendor file and when i plug the berry in after installation it goes to check for a update and it does not find any. If you then try to go thru dm and update software it only has those two older versions listed even though i installed the newer ones.
Does turning off the device (as in, going to the Menu icon and turning it off) actually do anything? I read that it doesn't wipe memory or anything (unlike my old, non-BB phone)plus the reload time when I turn it back on seems way too quick for the option to even be an "ON/OFF" function. So what does it do, exactly? Is there still battery drainage? And...is there a way to clean up the memory without doing a battery pull?
