May 25, 2011

I am having problems upgrading my Curve to the new OS6 system. It has been stuck at this point for over an hour now, and the device is new:
The screen on my blackberry is white, and pushing a button on the phone only brightens the screen. I'm reluctant to disconnect it because the last device I had tried and tried to upgrade failed part way through and had to be traded in for this one. Anyone know what to do?

My daughter was downloading a new 'theme' from an APP. It asked her to reboot and she selected 'now'. She now has a box frozen at the front of her screen and even taking the battery out has no effect.

I have a BB Curve 8900 and my keyboard and roller-ball seem to be frozen. I had no issues at all on yesterday and then in the evening today everything just sort of...froze. The ball will scroll but I cant click on anything or use ANY of the keys. It registers as getting texts in and my light is blinking but, like I said, I can't access anything at all. I have removed the battery for nearly 12 hours to no avail.

I just got a BB 8900 and I love it, but there is something that annoys me. When I set my home screen picture and then reboot for whatever reason, the home screen wallpaper reverts back to the default. How do I prevent that from happening?

i was wondering if RIM will change this annoying reboot each time you install something... It's not like the iPhone you can download an apps just for fun, with BB you have to think that you don't need your phone during 5 minutes, that nobody is going to call you, and it's so annoying.I think i would install so much more application without the automatic reboot.

My handset crashed due to loading 3rrd party applications. I get a message on the screen 'Reload Software:552' when I switch on the handset. The handset cannot be recognized by the desktop manager when it is plugged in. The handset ceases all its functions till the OS is restored or retrieved. One option is to go to the authorized service centre. But that is hundreds of miles away for from where I stay. Is there any other way that I can personally work on retrieving it.

When i reboot my phone after I installed a few upgrades to some applications, as usual.I was asked to reboot. It restarted the phone, however does not completly reboot back to my home screen. Instead, it is stuck on my Network Provider's screen...(o2 Welcome Screen)Im guessing it is still finishing the installation of some upgrades, but it has been like this all night.
I did a baterry pull, and took out the SIM Card and memory card, however it still seems to be stuck on the Network Provider's home screen.I had this issue last time, and I was advised from another forum to turn off the phone from the Off button on the phone, pull the battery and memory card, reinsert the battery without the memory card. This worked perfectly last time. Now, while the welcome screen is showing, if i press the off button, it will "Verify Security Software" and turn off.

My Curve 8900 shut down over the weekend. It won't come back on. It goes off and when I press the power button, the red light comes one, the backlit screen with the hourglass comes on and then it goes off again. A little while later, it starts the cycle over again, backlit blank screen, hourglass spins, bb shuts off.

We started upgrading this morning and 3+ hours later it hasn't move. The iphone is on the apple icon with a sliver of the progress bar filled and it's not moving. Itunes is frozen on the Updating iPhone Software, again with only a sliver of the progress bar moving
First, what can we do to get it moving?
Second, we are actually going away for the weekend and not sure what we can do. Can we disconnect the phone and just restore it?.
Info:iPhone 4, iOS 5.1.1

I have a white iPhone 4S that is permanently stuck on the Apple icon screen. I have:
- Plugged it into the computer. It is not recognized.
- Held the home button + the top button down in order to reset. Does not respond.
- Let the iPhone drain from battery usage. After recharging it eventually goes back to the Apple Logo screen and freezes again.
It seems to have just happened recently after upgrading my iPhone to the newest patch. Not sure which patch number it was, but I just updated everything as of last week.

iPhone 4S, White iPhone 4s

I started the "critical update" that popped up on my phone earlier today at about 12pm via the Desktop Manager (up to date).. Now it's almost 4pm and I've spent 3 and a half hours waiting for progress, scared to "disconnect the device or interrupt the process" for fear of my phone becoming "unstable" as the update window stated.I have included an image to prove the time frame (backed up device at 11:50, still waiting at 3:40.)There has been no change since the reboot stage began, about 20 minutes into the update, which was surprisingly quick. My phone has restored to factory settings, and I'm scared to do anymore than look at it?

I was having issues with my trackpad -- and this thread said to do a clean reload. So I did, and left it going overnight. When I came back to it in the morning, it said it couldn't connect to the device, and that it might require a password.
I don't have a password set, so I clicked retry. I got the same message an hour later. The progress bar looks like it has about 80% left to go.
The phone has been reset to factory defalt, so I'm worried I've lost all my files. I did a few backups before staring, but I have no idea how to restore it myself, and if I should interupt the process.

I downloaded a facebook app upgrade and when it rebooted, my phone froze. I did a battery pull and then went to BBDM to see if I could do a "restore" from my computer, but it won't recognize the phone because it is in this frozen pattern. The screen sits in the white screen with timer mode and every 20 minutes or so, the screen goes black and tries to reset and gets stuck back in the white screen with timer mode. I backed my system up yesterday. Can I do a restore if it won't recognize my phone when I plug it in? Is there a hard reset that I can do?

Droid RAZR - bought in November from Verizon store. Screen protectors and case are used; phone has experienced no trauma. While in Gmail today, the screen pixellated, became unresponsive, and now is inoperable. The screen appears as a mostly uniform field of slowly shifting color (pink, green) with a perhaps .75 inch bar of white on the bottom; see attached picture (it was hard to get a good shot because of the lighting). The phone still "works" internally - if you call it, it rings; the screen sleeps after an appropriate time and you can push the power button to bring it back; I hear the chime of emails and texts coming in. However, none of the menu/home/back buttons work, and touching the screen apparently does nothing. When I push the power button to "wake" the phone, the previously described white bar appears instantly, and the fuzzy colored remainder of the screen "develops" over about ten seconds.
I forced a reboot via the power button/volume trick, and heard the reboot process - but the same screen issue stayed throughout the reboot.I am at about 15% power; perhaps a complete shutdown forced by loss of battery power will eventually help. Plugging it in to a charger did not help.

Last week I upgraded my 8900 to 5.0.0.900 OS and since then my profiles haven't been working right. Mainly SMS/MMS. I have set up a few personal "Contact Alerts", like I have always done, but the specific Ring Tones for messages are not working. It follows the specific profile I am on and not the exception I have established that should overwrite the profile being used. I have had no problems with older BB OS!I have my phone on silent at night but have a specific "Contact Alert" set up for family members that will ring through no matter what. Phone calls ring through fine. It's just SMS/MMS that do not seem to follow the exception "Contact Alert". have even blown away all my personal contact alerts and started over and have checked each setting over and over - but nothing works.

I installed and app called Dropbox, and it said it was installed, but the screen was frozen so I couldn't choose OK or Run, so after about half an hour I pulled the battery. Now it is hung up during the boot, with the progress bar about under the Y in Blackberry.

I had an 8310 and just bought an 8900 brand new off of eBay. I used the 8310's speakerphone A LOT for listening to music and loved it! I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
