BB Curve :: 8900 Keyboard And Roller-ball Seem To Be Frozen?
Feb 28, 2011
I have a BB Curve 8900 and my keyboard and roller-ball seem to be frozen. I had no issues at all on yesterday and then in the evening today everything just sort of...froze. The ball will scroll but I cant click on anything or use ANY of the keys. It registers as getting texts in and my light is blinking but, like I said, I can't access anything at all. I have removed the battery for nearly 12 hours to no avail.
The roller ball (scroll pad) on my blackberry curve is frozen. Tmobile suggested it software due to it is not a moving mechanical part. This is an unlocked phone.
Roller ball rolls fine but nothing scrolls on screen. It is stuck highlighting the email icon and won't go anywhere else. The ball rolls smooth, it doesn't feel like anything is stuck. I've pulled the battery and cleaned the track ball - still nothing. It's like there is no connectivity.
My Blackberry is frozen! The curser ball doesn"t do anything at all. It was find and the it just stopped working. And, no, tried turning on and off, taking out battery, no change.
So my blackberry, which is on contract to orange uk has again broken. the problem is that the tracker ball will not move down. it moves from left to right and moves up but doesnt move down.
Yesterday morning I left my phone In the bathroom whilst having a shower, unfortunately I thnink the phone got water inside the keys and stopped working since. I still receive messages and pings, but can't seen to acess the unlocking stage of my phone and can't pick up the calls, I have constantly rebooted and taken the battery out so many times and got the same outcome. Does anybody know what I should try, it had been a day, I heard the rice trick works but I'm not sure
People i have problem with my BB 8900,my screen sundely got frozen with white color.I tried to reinstall OS but problem still remains. When I attached it to usb desktop software recognized it.I can receive phone calls but i can't see nothing but blank white screen
my phone is the Blackberry Curve 8900 and i am on the o2 network.I recieved an upgrade message tonight from Blackberry App World for the newest version of the app.I downloaded and then let the phone reboot.Since then the load up screen gets about halfway then freezes.I have removed the battery and left for 10 mins but no luck.I left the phone to reboot for around an hour but no luck.I have also tried connecting it to the PC but it says the device is not recognised as it is rebooting?
Just attempted to upgrade to OS 5 and all was going well up until the phone re-booted, blackberry on the phones screen with a loading bar that stuck 3/4 the way for a good half hour, i disconnected, battery pulled and phone just wont load past 3/4. DM says it waiting for device to start?
Yesterday I purchased my new BB Curve 8520. I was so happy with it until, I ran some new app and it completly froze. I pulled the battery out. Put it back, turned it on and no results. None of my keys are working. If I press alt or shifts it shows on the right upper corner of the screen that they are being activated, but nothing else happens. I've been trying for hours. I tried the old Alt+shift+Del, I took the sim out, the memory card. I left the phone without battery for an hour but no use. And also my speaker icon shows star insted of curves and my Antenna isn't working either.
i have forgotten the unlock code for my BB curve 8530. It was freezing up and after hard restart would only go to device locked screen and allow me to switch betwe3en the choices but then would not go to screen i chose. Have downloaded the desktop software and been prompted for the unlock code. Should i have some confirmation code documentation that may have been sent to me, because i cant seem to find any. I bought the phone used and cant remember if i had to have the code to activate it or not this phone now belongs to my teenage daughter and we all know what a teenager w/o a working phone is like to be around!
I used to have the keyboard lock option set for my right conversion key. I installed the new OS update and poof.conversion key is nothing now, and when I went to reset it, I cannot even find a keyboard lock on my phone anywhere! Please help, I'm calling people all the time, not good!I have a new curve and Sprint, by the way!
My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad will not work, so I cannot make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it will not "click" to unlock it. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I own the Blackberry (it is not bought through a service provider), I tried to contact Blackberry customer services UK, who seem to be reluctant to deal with consumers. My service provder, O2 were much more helpful. How can I get a replacement/repair under warranty, or fix the problem?
I wonder if my 8900 has a virus? 2 weeks ago my keypad stopped working all of a sudden (all but the track ball although the clicking down of the trackpad doesn't) Now after reading through some websites, I was convinced it was a hardware fault but I decided that evening to try to back up my data and update the OS. I updated the OS and low and behold, my keypad started working again so obviously not a harware fault but now the keypads gone again and I try reinstalling the software and some of the keys work.... could I have a virus on my BB? is there a virus killer out there for BB?
After Upgrade of OS from 4.6 to 5.0 keyboard lock icon is gone from menu. BB also doesn't respond to lock button at the top of the handheld.Does anybody know what happened and what is remedy.I also have Bold 9700 and afraid to perform OS update. Please advise.
I recently upgraded my software to the newest 5.0 version. However, it seems like the ability to lock the keyboard is gone! When I press the top left hand button (lock key shortcut), nothing happens. Tried doing a hard and soft reset. Still doesn't work.I tot that my button was spoilt, so I programmed QL to have a lock device shortcut. But guess what? Nothing happened either! I am aware that I can press and hold the A key to do a pseduo lock, but that is not what I want.Anyone else facing the same problem?
Just a quick question; which is better for saving battery when my Blackberry is sat in my pocket - Keyboard Lock or Sleep Mode? I don't use the holster. Also, what are the main apps that kill battery on the BB and any tips to save battery?
I upgraded the other night to the V5 and I'm really not that happy with it. I can't stand the new lock feature. I also seem to be having a problem when I lock the phone. After pressing the top left button or holding "A" I can't get the phone out of lock without holding some of the buttons down for like 6-7 seconds. When I try to press the send or end key the screen doesn't even come on. Even when I press the top left lock button. I have to hold it in and it's REALLY annoying. I'm seriously considering downgrading. Anybody else having this problem???
I recently got a Curve 8900, and I can only lock/unlock it by pressing the top button. On my brother's Curve.he's able to lock/unlock by pressing A+Send. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get mine to do the same thing.I went to the "Tips and Tricks" section for my phone, and it actually says that the A+Send option is the standard way to lock/unlock.Now I'm confused. Please help.
I just downloaded the software update v5 and when it was all done my keyboard lock key stopped working, has anybody else had this problem? any solutions other than a downgrade?
Im 8900 owner, and im using Hebrew language and running 4.6.1.199 OS.When i got the BB (running Hebrew) the keyboard shortcuts ("R" to reply, "T" for top, etc) worked well, and after a while its just stopped to work.
I tried battery pull, doesnt help. With English the shortcuts works fine, but sometimes after reboot it stop working and then im changeing the language to another>then back to English again and the shortcuts back. (it doesnt work for Hebrew).Anyone can think about something i can do to make the shortcuts work on Hebrew again?
the keyboard and buttons on the side and top on my 8900 simply stopped working, in that they will no longer activate the phone even though I know the phone to be on.The phone is a PAYG handset on Orange, whom I have contacted and was told that because the unit is over 12 months old (18months) I must contact Blackberry. There are unfortunately no support telephone numbers apparent on the site, so this seems to be my only option! This is incredibly annoying as I need to use the phone on a daily basis for email, etc!
I'm currently using a Bold 9900 under T-Mobile. The phone repeats the letters "n" and "m" nonstop. If I leave my phone down, it would show "nmnmnmnmnmnm" after a minute. The keyboard, trackpad, and unlock buttons are also not responsive. I've tried the batter pull numerous times, and it has shown improvement once (I was able to type in my password and go into the home menu). Soon after that the problem returned. The phone just seems half dead and its reponse to my actions are random. Sometimes I'm unable to unlock my phone even after pressing the unlock button numerous times.
I did go to a beach with my phone. But there was no water or sand damage. It was in my hotel room the whole time. as the phone is completely unuseable right now. The screen works, but I am unable to press any keys to unlock/use my phone.
