I just downloaded the software update v5 and when it was all done my keyboard lock key stopped working, has anybody else had this problem? any solutions other than a downgrade?
View 49 RepliesIm 8900 owner, and im using Hebrew language and running 4.6.1.199 OS.When i got the BB (running Hebrew) the keyboard shortcuts ("R" to reply, "T" for top, etc) worked well, and after a while its just stopped to work.
I tried battery pull, doesnt help.With English the shortcuts works fine, but sometimes after reboot it stop working and then im changeing the language to another>then back to English again and the shortcuts back. (it doesnt work for Hebrew).Anyone can think about something i can do to make the shortcuts work on Hebrew again?
the keyboard and buttons on the side and top on my 8900 simply stopped working, in that they will no longer activate the phone even though I know the phone to be on.The phone is a PAYG handset on Orange, whom I have contacted and was told that because the unit is over 12 months old (18months) I must contact Blackberry. There are unfortunately no support telephone numbers apparent on the site, so this seems to be my only option! This is incredibly annoying as I need to use the phone on a daily basis for email, etc!

I installed the new OS update and poof.conversion key is nothing now, and when I went to reset it, I cannot even find a keyboard lock on my phone anywhere! T mobile told me that they could not repair the old one and therefore it was replaced with a new one - the keyboard and lock button has now stopped working on this some of the time meaning it can't be used as I cannot unlock it. Despite the fact that it was only brand new in January as the contract is over 2 years now they say there is no warranty on it but speak to Blackberry can't find any other way of doing this?

However, it seems like the ability to lock the keyboard is gone!When I press the top left hand button (lock key shortcut), nothing happens. Tried doing a hard and soft reset. Still doesn't work.I tot that my button was spoilt, so I programmed QL to have a lock device shortcut. But guess what? Nothing happened either! I am aware that I can press and hold the A key to do a pseduo lock, but that is not what I want.Anyone else facing the same problem?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the other night to the V5 and I'm really not that happy with it. I can't stand the new lock feature. I also seem to be having a problem when I lock the phone. After pressing the top left button or holding "A" I can't get the phone out of lock without holding some of the buttons down for like 6-7 seconds. When I try to press the send or end key the screen doesn't even come on. Even when I press the top left lock button. I have to hold it in and it's REALLY annoying. I'm seriously considering downgrading. Anybody else having this problem???
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Curve 8900, and I can only lock/unlock it by pressing the top button.On my brother's Curve.he's able to lock/unlock by pressing A+Send.For the life of me I can't figure out how to get mine to do the same thing.I went to the "Tips and Tricks" section for my phone,and it actually says that the A+Send option is the standard way to lock/unlock.Now I'm confused.Please help.

I wonder if my 8900 has a virus? 2 weeks ago my keypad stopped working all of a sudden (all but the track ball although the clicking down of the trackpad doesn't) Now after reading through some websites, I was convinced it was a hardware fault but I decided that evening to try to back up my data and update the OS. I updated the OS and low and behold, my keypad started working again so obviously not a harware fault but now the keypads gone again and I try reinstalling the software and some of the keys work.... could I have a virus on my BB? is there a virus killer out there for BB?

I can't get to my email, bbm, text, browser, etc needless to say it's extremely frustrating, I have cleaned the trackball with alcohol and it seemed to work in the beginning but it doesn't work now. Is there a way to use the keyboard to get to the icons such as email without using the trackball.

View 5 Replies View Relatedmy blackberry curve has stopped working again, this is the third time that the fault has developed and this time it lasted a week, each time the device gets returned I'm assured that the fault has been rectified. So far its had the software upgraded, its also had the keypad replaced and an internal service and its now broken again
I have been onto vodafone and all they can do is repair the device again but there getting nowhere with it as each repair only lasts a week is there anyway I can get this replaced through blackberry as vodafone seem to be completely rubbish at resolving this one. I don't even mind getting a refurbished unit or an older model, just something that works. I have tried redoing the firmware, I have also done numerous battery pulls but I'm getting no luck
My keyboard has stopped working. The menu button now types random letters when pressed. The track ball and call key still work normally, but nothing else.

Its been workin like a champ up until tonight.. received a call and i couldn't hear anything, speakerphone works as normal, but the ear speaker does not. Anyone care to shed some light on how this could randomly happen w/o dropping or water damage?? Looks like i've got to change the whole midplate now.. which makes me extremely unhappy.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.
The audible notifications and the lock key on my 8900 have quit working. I have resorted to password lock and vibration notifications.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI couldn't type at all on my G3 as the keyboard stopped popping up when clicking a text field - luckily I had Swype installed (as I'd bought it for a previous phone that had a rubbish stock keyboard) to use as a back up so I made Swype the default and could type again... however, I miss my LG Keyboard and it's emoticons but I cannot turn it back on - when going into the 'language & input methods' menu, I can adjust the settings for it, but the tick box to turn it on is greyed out?I tried the usual turn off and on etc, but it's still greyed out and seemingly can't be turned on.

So I updated my Curve to the new version 5. I noticed that there was no more Keyboard Lock/Password Lock. From my previous software, it was named Keyboard Lock and I set it as one of my convenience keys. After the update, I noticed that it no longer existed. A friend of mine purchased a brand new Curve 8520 with the update already installed of course. She had the Keyboard Lock but it was named Password Lock instead. I have been searching for ways to get this feature back to my Blackberry because I feel it is more convenient rather than the "silent/mute mode" button located on the top of my device. The touch screen is fine no problems at all i presumed that it had broken and that was that...then one morning my screen flashed black l(like it had been locked) and the keyboard started working then after 5 mins it stopped. This has happened for the past 3 mornings now so i thought it could poss be a software issue. I have rebooted my phone (bat pull) done a full wipe of everything and still no joy

After switching off my Xperia Z3 from charging.. My keyboard started giving message..Unfortunately XPERIA keyboard has stopped working. Only thing i cud do was click Ok and it repeatedly showed up untill i restarted.
