please help...i just updated my BB curve 8900 sofware to 5.0 and after the installing process my keypad lock is not working anymore...i can't find it anywhere on my BB!

I updated my 8900 to v5.0.0.461 last evening and everything works pretty fine soo far except the keypad lock button at the top of the phone no longer works. It was working fine before the upgrade. Any thoughts?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI use A BlackBerry Curve 8900 I had to shut down my phone and when I tried to pwer it up the keypad lock was activated . I have tried to unlock it using the lock key and also the * key but both dont work. I have also tried doing a hard reboot ( removing the battery and then turning on the phone. This has not worked either. Is there anywya to bypass the keypad lock and also can the keypad lock be deactivated.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

View 49 Replies View Relatedi just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.
Yesterday morning I left my phone In the bathroom whilst having a shower,unfortunately I thnink the phone got water inside the keys and stopped working since. I still receive messages and pings, but can't seen to acess the unlocking stage of my phone and can't pick up the calls, I have constantly rebooted and taken the battery out so many times and got the same outcome. Does anybody know what I should try, it had been a day, I heard the rice trick works but I'm not sure

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've updated my BB 8900 OS a couple of days ago. It worked fine for 1 day and then it popped up with an error message that disappaered really quickly and it go into a loop.
I tried to re-install the OS 5 and the app loader recognises the BB and the PIN is showing, but when I click next it get's stuck on "connecting with device (ARM)". The only thing the BB does now is blink its red light like morse code long-fast-fast-fast-long.
I just updated my BB and am now having email issues. It appears the update removed the "redirector" from my computer, so I am not receiving emails to my phone. Any help is greatly appreciated, as I can't find anything on the BB website to help.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone keeps emailing and calling random people from my contacts, because I am carrying it in my back pocket. The phone is very easily unlocked accidentally as the unlock button sits on top of it, sticking out of the holster. I have even tried placing it upward down into the holster but it still easily unlocks through the holster.
What is the most efficient way to keep the the device locked for back pocket storage? I could set up a password, but as the number of bad password inputs is obviously limited, I also do not want to have accidental password input.
Is there a way to deactivate the unlock button on top and use a key combination instead? Or anything else?
I just upgraded OS5 on my 8520 but after upgrading I can't see keypad lock option anywhere. Before there was keypad lock icon in menu but its just vanished now and I even checked all the folders its nowhere. How can I get it back?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince updating my OS the audio files that i often transfer to my curve will crash the phone except for the very bottom file on the "all songs" menu inside the BB music player. It is the strangest thing, and very problematic. I have loaded random music files on and switched priority and it is always the last file on the list that works and everything else above will cause the crash. To help clarify some info. The music files are from an itunes playlist and they are all spoken word that range from 5-7hrs each and i have from 2-4 of them at a time. BB desktop manager is the method of syncing and the method of updating the OS as well.

I tried changing the lock button to the convenience key, and it works fine, except that there isn't an option to set it as the unlock key. Is there a way or program to set a key to unlock the phone? However, it seems like the ability to lock the keyboard is gone!When I press the top left hand button (lock key shortcut), nothing happens. Tried doing a hard and soft reset. Still doesn't work.I tot that my button was spoilt, so I programmed QL to have a lock device shortcut. But guess what? Nothing happened either! I am aware that I can press and hold the A key to do a pseduo lock, but that is not what I want.Anyone else facing the same problem?
