I dropped my phone not too long ago, and ever since the lock/unlock key on the top is very fussy and only works if pressed a certain way. I tried changing the lock button to the convenience key, and it works fine, except that there isn't an option to set it as the unlock key. Is there a way or program to set a key to unlock the phone? Or am I stuck using the dedicated lock button?
View 4 RepliesI use A BlackBerry Curve 8900 I had to shut down my phone and when I tried to pwer it up the keypad lock was activated . I have tried to unlock it using the lock key and also the * key but both dont work. I have also tried doing a hard reboot ( removing the battery and then turning on the phone. This has not worked either. Is there anywya to bypass the keypad lock and also can the keypad lock be deactivated.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to this forum and new to blackberry in general. I actually purchased my very first one saturday. I bought it used because I have big hands and did not know how well my fingers would work on the tiny keypad. I have a few questions. Please dont flame me because I have been searching and reading since i got home yesterday afternoon.
1.) This phone is a t-mobile phone and is currently unlocked and works with my AT&T service. Being the engineer that I am- Its hard for me to accept the t-mobile screen that comes up on start-up. Before I call and get my blackberry plan activated on my phone I would like to have all the bugs worked out. I would like to somehow make this phone think its an AT&T phone. I have downloaded crackmem and nuked this phone. I upgraded to the lastest version of AT&T software which is version 4.6, but when i power this phone up it still shows T-mobile. That drives me crazy.
2.) I read how to unlock the different vendor themes on this forum. I tried it and it did not work for me. I entered the vendor id number for AT&T. maybe I should have entered it for t-mobile. Like i said I am new and know dont know very much about these phones.
3.) I also have the OS system 5.0.411 downloaded and ready to install on my phone. I would like to figure out how to resolve the above items before I install in on my phone. I chose the 5.0.411 over the latest software because i like the unlock button on the top of the phone working. Its just convienent for me.
My main concern is I was the t-mobile start up replaced with the AT&T one. I know it can be done but I am a mechanical engineer not a software engineer and it was hard enough to write enough code to get through college, much less reprogram a phone.
I have a phone from my company that I no longer use. Seems like the enterprise server hijacked the phone. How can I get it to where it was before? Or unlock it.

View 4 Replies View Relatedso i just downloaded berrybuzz trail from a ota because appworld doesnt work in my country and i downloaded the playboy irish animated theme and i did a reboot because it said some stuff might nto work untill it does so i did but now it wont let me unlock it :s i can c that the alt keyt and caps work cause when i clcik them it shows that symbole at the top right but i press the unlock bottom nothing try to type my pass nothing doesnt even say pop up the box that says emergency call unlock etc. i also just upgraded to the newest offical OS

However, it seems like the ability to lock the keyboard is gone!When I press the top left hand button (lock key shortcut), nothing happens. Tried doing a hard and soft reset. Still doesn't work.I tot that my button was spoilt, so I programmed QL to have a lock device shortcut. But guess what? Nothing happened either! I am aware that I can press and hold the A key to do a pseduo lock, but that is not what I want.Anyone else facing the same problem?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the other night to the V5 and I'm really not that happy with it. I can't stand the new lock feature. I also seem to be having a problem when I lock the phone. After pressing the top left button or holding "A" I can't get the phone out of lock without holding some of the buttons down for like 6-7 seconds. When I try to press the send or end key the screen doesn't even come on. Even when I press the top left lock button. I have to hold it in and it's REALLY annoying. I'm seriously considering downgrading. Anybody else having this problem???
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Curve 8900, and I can only lock/unlock it by pressing the top button.On my brother's Curve.he's able to lock/unlock by pressing A+Send.For the life of me I can't figure out how to get mine to do the same thing.I went to the "Tips and Tricks" section for my phone,and it actually says that the A+Send option is the standard way to lock/unlock.Now I'm confused.Please help.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

View 49 Replies View Relatedi just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.

I have a plastic case on it, so everytime I go to press the Mute buton, I have to take the case off. I always took the back of the phone off too so that it wasn't coming through 2 little holes through the top. Is the sound quality and volume of the 8900 equal to or greater than the 8300 with its batter door off?
