I recently got a Curve 8900, and I can only lock/unlock it by pressing the top button.On my brother's Curve.he's able to lock/unlock by pressing A+Send.For the life of me I can't figure out how to get mine to do the same thing.I went to the "Tips and Tricks" section for my phone,and it actually says that the A+Send option is the standard way to lock/unlock.Now I'm confused.Please help.

I installed the new OS update and poof.conversion key is nothing now, and when I went to reset it, I cannot even find a keyboard lock on my phone anywhere! However, it seems like the ability to lock the keyboard is gone!When I press the top left hand button (lock key shortcut), nothing happens. Tried doing a hard and soft reset. Still doesn't work.I tot that my button was spoilt, so I programmed QL to have a lock device shortcut. But guess what? Nothing happened either! I am aware that I can press and hold the A key to do a pseduo lock, but that is not what I want.Anyone else facing the same problem?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI upgraded the other night to the V5 and I'm really not that happy with it. I can't stand the new lock feature. I also seem to be having a problem when I lock the phone. After pressing the top left button or holding "A" I can't get the phone out of lock without holding some of the buttons down for like 6-7 seconds. When I try to press the send or end key the screen doesn't even come on. Even when I press the top left lock button. I have to hold it in and it's REALLY annoying. I'm seriously considering downgrading. Anybody else having this problem???

From my previous software, it was named Keyboard Lock and I set it as one of my convenience keys. After the update, I noticed that it no longer existed. A friend of mine purchased a brand new Curve 8520 with the update already installed of course. She had the Keyboard Lock but it was named Password Lock instead. I have been searching for ways to get this feature back to my Blackberry because I feel it is more convenient rather than the "silent/mute mode" button located on the top of my device. the trackball is working but cant chose.
My Curve 8900 is less than 6 months old, and suddenly the keyboad will not work, so I cannot make/receive calls, and although the trackball works, it will not "click" to unlock it. Seems to be an intermittent fault. As I own the Blackberry (it is not bought through a service provider), I tried to contact Blackberry customer services UK, who seem to be reluctant to deal with consumers. My service provder, O2 were much more helpful. How can I get a replacement/repair under warranty, or fix the problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI wonder if my 8900 has a virus? 2 weeks ago my keypad stopped working all of a sudden (all but the track ball although the clicking down of the trackpad doesn't) Now after reading through some websites, I was convinced it was a hardware fault but I decided that evening to try to back up my data and update the OS. I updated the OS and low and behold, my keypad started working again so obviously not a harware fault but now the keypads gone again and I try reinstalling the software and some of the keys work.... could I have a virus on my BB? is there a virus killer out there for BB?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a BB Curve 8900 and my keyboard and roller-ball seem to be frozen. I had no issues at all on yesterday and then in the evening today everything just sort of...froze. The ball will scroll but I cant click on anything or use ANY of the keys. It registers as getting texts in and my light is blinking but, like I said, I can't access anything at all. I have removed the battery for nearly 12 hours to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm 8900 owner, and im using Hebrew language and running 4.6.1.199 OS.When i got the BB (running Hebrew) the keyboard shortcuts ("R" to reply, "T" for top, etc) worked well, and after a while its just stopped to work.
I tried battery pull, doesnt help.With English the shortcuts works fine, but sometimes after reboot it stop working and then im changeing the language to another>then back to English again and the shortcuts back. (it doesnt work for Hebrew).Anyone can think about something i can do to make the shortcuts work on Hebrew again?
I recently updated my applications on my phone (blackberry curve 8520) though the blackberry desktop manager - after the update some of my icons vanished. I can no longer lock my phone. Please can someone tell me what to do to get back the lock button.

View 5 Replies View Relatedthe keyboard and buttons on the side and top on my 8900 simply stopped working, in that they will no longer activate the phone even though I know the phone to be on.The phone is a PAYG handset on Orange, whom I have contacted and was told that because the unit is over 12 months old (18months) I must contact Blackberry. There are unfortunately no support telephone numbers apparent on the site, so this seems to be my only option! This is incredibly annoying as I need to use the phone on a daily basis for email, etc!

View 10 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone not too long ago, and ever since the lock/unlock key on the top is very fussy and only works if pressed a certain way. I tried changing the lock button to the convenience key, and it works fine, except that there isn't an option to set it as the unlock key. Is there a way or program to set a key to unlock the phone? Or am I stuck using the dedicated lock button?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI updated my OS on my 8900 to the latest version yesterday 5.0.0.681 Most of it looks the same, however I used to use the lock ley (top left ) on my handset, to password lock my unit before putting it in my pocket. Now I find this only put the unit into and out of standby. Does anyone know why this has been changed? Can it be changed back? I am really angry that this usefull feature has been removed without the ability to customise my handset and put it on.Why could it not have been an option to change what this key does? From a quick search on Google I see lots of other people have the same problem, and some are even paying to download aps to fix the problem!! For now I have changed my side convience key to activate the password lock, so all I have to do is keep remembering to press side button instead of top button. I cant even find anywhere that I can contact RIM about this, and request they reinstate the lock key. Very disapointed with the way this has been handled and the lack of support / advice / comment from RIM.

I have tried to unlock it using the lock key and also the * key but both dont work. I have also tried doing a hard reboot ( removing the battery and then turning on the phone. View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought the phone off of a mate knowing the problems but my g1 tottally died.so the only way i can make a call is threw a headset and also the ringtone speaker doesnt work so have to have my phone out all the time to see if i have a call/text :| when i open the camera i get "could not start the camera, close other applicaions and try oppening the camera again".
the lock and mute keys on top do not work atall and recently the volume key has stopped working. ive tried googling the problems but havent found much information on my problems. could it be the actual speaker. or the plastic midplate with the metal contacts on?im not too bothered about the camera and keys just the speakers soo i dont have to walk around with my phone in my hand with my headset in.
i've just upgraded my 8900 from 4.6 version to 5.0 os version, all programs are running good but i find one small problem for the keypad lock on the top left side of the unit, it doesn't work?

I could send MMS and everything else was fully functional.I figured it was an OS problem and upgraded to 5.0.0.592, but still no luck.I guess I'm a complete novice at this since the last BB I owned was the Pearl and that was two years ago, so is there a way I can clean the whole device and put everything back to factory settings and start from the ground up?would this tactic solve my issue, anyway?
