I've had my 9700 probably for about 3 weeks now, coming from the 8900. I know the OS is different, so has the shortcut for profiles changed? With my 8900 I could press F, to get to my profiles. And altho I have disabled dial from homescreen on my 9700, pressing F does nothing, however all other shortcuts worked. Am I missing something?
Since today i can't enter my Homescreen or menu. If i press the menu button nothing happens (no it's not locked) if I hold the menu button the "running app popup appears and i can open the running apps" if I press the back button i'll get a white screen..(today i upgrade my Doc. to go and since then i'm expiring the problems)
I tried Batt. pull and I went back to a older back-up but it is'nt working.
With my Blackberry 9000, I was able to go into the Phone menu and dial by a name in my phonebook contacts. ie: I press: HOME and this entry will show up.With the new Blackberry 9700... Pressing the Alpha keys doesn't do anything. Only the numbers 0 through 9 are working. Is this an option? I can't seem to find where to turn this on.
I've got this icon that I don't recall seeing when I originally purchased my phone. When dialing a number, there's a rectangle with diagonal stars(?) from left to right. This symbol is left of the speaker and volume icons.Does anyone know what this represents?
I have a Bold 9700 running 5.0.0.545 with bell mobility. When I upgraded to this version I am no longer able to type in a contact name from the home screen to dial them. I now have to go into the address book, then type their name. I can only enter numbers directly from the home screen. Is anyone else having this issue?
After upgrading to v40, I've compared the new homescreen to the old homescreen and to the old homescreen with v21-31, these are my findings.
- The old homescreen on v40 does not have the email notification that Nokia introduced a short while ago and which was obviously VERY well recieved globally.
- The new homescreen on v40 has kinetic scrolling contacts which is, um, cute. It has the ability to control the music player (What I found to be very buggy, crashing it by simply pressing 'forward' when it's playing a folder with 1 song).
- The new homescreen on v40 does not have calendar and tasks, probably for the space the new music player-thing takes. This was my FAVORITE thing on the homescreen and I am sure I'm not alone.
I truly hope Nokia addresses these issues by either returning the email notifications to the old homescreen or somehow allowing to see the calendar and tasks on the new homescreen. Or both.
I have a brand new ozone that I need to program for Pageplus. I need to dial *22890, but I can't dial. The phone prompts me to hit the send key which dials *228, which does me no good. Is there any way to make this thing dial the number I need?
i have this weird sign on my homescreen and i take click on it it looks like 3 bars (yellow, green, blue) with a red cicle around it and a line going through it
When I grabbed my phone this morning I noticed that the icons on the bottom of homescreen were gone and all that shows is an up arrow. When I hit the menu button and went to manage panels, the box for all was checked and greyed out and I cannot change that option. I used to have my e-mail icons, text icon, and browser icon docked on my homescreen but this disappeared overnight
I am on a call.I go into an email account then open an email. Then open the attachment to view the image.I then need to go to texts or some application from the homescreen.Normally I hit the "end call" button which goes straight back then, but obviously this would kill the call. So, I have to do Escape,Escape,Escape,Escape. Is there some means to go staight to the homescreen? btw, I did try holding down Escape to see if that works.IT doesn't.
I have an unusual icon appeared on my homescreen for the first time, and I don't know how to clear it. My email icon, which is a transparent envelope, now has a small orange envelope inside it. I have no emails waiting, in fact I have cleared the inbox to be sure. I have consulted the icons PDF doc on the BB site but that doesn't list it. I have tried a re-boot.
Just did a device switch from Torch 9800 to Bold 9900, everything went smooth except that, now homescreen icons show only 4 icons in a row instead of 6.
I have a BB 9780 with OS 6 Bundle 2949. Since accepting a terms message for Windows Live Messenger I cannot dial a number using numerical keys, I have to go through or enter it into contacts!

How do I hit a # (number) key while on a conference call? It won't allow me. I have to ask one of the callers on the line with me to press a button for me. BB 9900 Bold. I've owned numerous BBs in the past 8 years & never had this issue.
I searched the forum and found this problem mentioned a few times in the past, but the solutions are all for older OS, that is not applicable to the current 6.0 OS. There does not seem to be a "Dial From Home Screen" option to check any more.
Used to be, typing the beginning of a name from the Home screen brought up matches in the Contacts list so you could easily call them. Now when I type a name, other apps (mail, texts, etc) will display matches, but nothing from contacts. Indeed, dialing from the Home screen doesn't work at all -- I can't even type in a number.
I can receive emails via the wifi in my home but cannot dial out. The phone continues to say radio off and when attempt to call out it asks to restore the connectio, so I click on restore connections and after a few seconds it says no service currently available. How do I fix this or is the system down?
Starting to use Speed dial and the character A, V, and W are used by presets. Is there any way to Free up these characters? Especially the A which locks the keyboard.
I used to be able to hover over a phone number and select "dial". For some reason my new phone won't let me do that. I have to write the number down and dial it manually. I can't even "cut and paste" the number.
the dial tones when typing a phone number on the normal profile of the blackberry is ridiculously loud. You cant keep your headset on or earpiece in without hurting or even damaging your ears. It is extremely annoying to have to take out your earpiece every time you dial someone. Setting the profile to vibrate or silent is no option of course because then you don't hear the phone ring. How do I set the dial tone to silent or much lower volume without reducing the phone ring volume on a BB Bold 9900?
I don't know if I'm the only person getting this problem but sometimes while making or receiving a call and the phone press against your face it sometimes dial back the same number on the screen.
I got a new BB 9700 Bold yesterday and having problems with setting up the sync for the calendar and the contacts which are on my outlook. My hotmail email accounts are working okay. The outlook is on my PC and is the front face for my hotmail accounts.
When I go in to the BB Desktop device manager - version 5.0.1 (latest version) , I go in to the configure option on the left and it lets me click on calendar> then I select outlook and it then lets me select 'finish'. However at this stage an error box flashes up saying 'no available message stores'. In addition when I check the wifi config on the calendar and contacts icons on the BB device it will not let me select yes on the wireless connection for them.
