Jul 2, 2010OK, after some investigation I found out all about changing sounds: email notifications, phone calls, SMS, etc. etc. But I've discovered that my SMS sound will not change. Phone sounds, email notifications, pretty much everything else sticks with no problem.
But SMS notifications WILL NOT change from. . .Sanguine, is it? I mean I can go into the profile edit section and PHYSICALLY change it with the drop down menus, and when I go back there the selection is as I left it, but no matter what that drop down menu has saved, the SAME sound plays for SMS notifications.
It might be worth mentioning that I briefly tried SMSCrunch, and the sound for SMS notification there was Gung **, which I liked and wanted to keep after I uninstalled SMSCrunch. Now, Gung ** will play as a preview when editing, but again, the only sound I get for SMS notifications is Sanguine.

Aug 9, 2011I still am unable to change the locked speed-dial codes. Here are the steps I'm taking:
- press the green phone key, the phone dial pad appears;
- press the blackberry "menu" key, scroll down menu and select "view", then "speed dial list";
- highlight the "A" Lock Keypad, then press the "select" ball : result screen goes dark and have to hit unlock button; or alternatively, execute same steps, except press the "enter/return" on keyboard: result screen is locked.After reading the instructions; they mentioned pressing the "enter" symbol at the far right,I don't have an enter button as noted, what am I missing?

Feb 2, 2010I've had my 9700 probably for about 3 weeks now, coming from the 8900. I know the OS is different, so has the shortcut for profiles changed? With my 8900 I could press F, to get to my profiles. And altho I have disabled dial from homescreen on my 9700, pressing F does nothing, however all other shortcuts worked. Am I missing something?

If at all, one doesn't assign a shortcut to it, still there's an icon that is shown as default when nothing is assigned.Here's what you do...1. Download the app called vacuum.sis from the web. Try this link...www.mediafire.com/?a01dw4w4azasjmn2. Install the app anywhere in your phone, phone memory, mass memory or memory card.3. Now go to homescreen and press and hold to go into edit mode.4. Tap the desired location for adding the shortcut bar and select it from the list of widgets available.5. Once the shortcut bar is added, tap it and go into the settings for adding the shortcuts to it.6. Now if you want to add only one app in the shortcut bar, select the desired location from one to four and add the app. In the rest of the locations, add the vacuum app.7.
Now close the shortcut and return to home screen. You should see only one shortcut in the shortcut bar. This way you can place any one app at any location on the grid with app.What's actually vacuum app? Its a dummy app which when installed, results in an app which doesn't do anything on installation and has a transparent icon. So an unknowing tap on the shortcut also will do nothing. Tada! Jan 4, 2010With my Blackberry 9000, I was able to go into the Phone menu and dial by a name in my phonebook contacts. ie: I press: HOME and this entry will show up.With the new Blackberry 9700... Pressing the Alpha keys doesn't do anything. Only the numbers 0 through 9 are working.Is this an option? I can't seem to find where to turn this on.

Dec 7, 2010I searched the forum and found this problem mentioned a few times in the past, but the solutions are all for older OS, that is not applicable to the current 6.0 OS. There does not seem to be a "Dial From Home Screen" option to check any more.
Used to be, typing the beginning of a name from the Home screen brought up matches in the Contacts list so you could easily call them.Now when I type a name, other apps (mail,texts, etc) will display matches, but nothing from contacts. Indeed, dialing from the Home screen doesn't work at all -- I can't even type in a number.

1.) Is there an easier way to unlock the phone other than pressing the lock key at the top? I can conveniently lock it by pressing the * key, but is there an alternative for unlocking it? (I can't set it as a convenience key for some reason, it's not showing up as one of the options.)
2.) How do I set my alarms to vibrate only? I've selected and adjusted the "Vibrate Only" profile and made everything silent. But my alarms are still making sounds!
