I am trying to open emailed picture attachments and I'm getting the message "The document conversion failed". I did a battery pull and checked my BIS (not sure why I did that). What does this mean? Is some sort of server down?
View 4 RepliesJust wondering if your bold drops calls as frequently as mine does. it seems that sometimes the phone decides to act up and gives me a 'call failed' message whenever i try to make a phone call. I always check how many bars i have and its usually at 4 or 5. sometimes a battery pull fixes this, but other times, the problem is persistent. my old bold 9000 had the same problem, so i'm not sure if it's at&t or blackberries in general.

Failed calls galore... Literally had to stop what I was doing and tell the 9700 to use the obviously better cell signal...
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my 9700 abt 6wks ago, everything was working fine, Then abt 2 weeks ago I started getting "Call Failed" when trying to make calls. Now I get it 90% of the time, and after investigating I can not receive incoming calls either.I have contacted Orange who say it might be a network / location issue, but not sure and have not had any other complaints? However I have not moved and I get this all the time in my house, where as 6weeks ago it was fine. And also when connected in the car driving around in different areas to my home town it still happens.It seems to be a bug on the handset as my signal strength is full 5bars, 3G displayed, etc. Setting under NETWORK MODE - 3G & 2G, if I set this to just 2G then this fixes it!I am running v5.0.0.351 (plat 5.1.0.98).I have tried hard resets, wipes etc, and I finally got Orange to sent me a new handset.Still not working! I have also down loaded and installed what I think is the latest firmware update available for the 9700 from Jordan v5.0.0.442., still no fix so reverted back to v5.0.0.351.I think it might be that I have a weak 3G signal where I live, but switching over to UMA and connecting in my house through this still does not fix it? Is there a known bug that the 9700 gets confused/freezes when trying to switch in and out of 3G/2G/UMA coverage? From Googling Call Failed BB 9700 etc it seems that there are a few others out there with the same issue??? Any help how to fix/what firmware works etc It is driving me crazy because I do not recieve calls, sms etc either!

When I get a new email or SMS/MMS text messages it says I have the number plus 1, but I can't find the message or get rid of the icon. View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen I installed my BB Desktop Manager and first plugged in my Bold 9700, it asked if I would like to update various features on my phone, to which I accepted. The update froze- I can't remember quite at which stage but I recall it was at the end stages and the stage at which it froze started with JVM. After waiting an hour or so, I disconnected my Blackberry, not knowing what to do. The screen remained black and the red light started blinking.I looked up fixes for the problem and they seemed simple- one used JL_Cmdr to do a full wipe- but I am using Windows 7 and it isn't compatible. I get a brief command prompt screen for a half second before it closes.
The second fix involved using the command prompt to get to the Loader in the AppLoader file- but I ran into another problem- when trying to open Loader.exe, I got a "The Application Loader requires the Blackberry Device Manager to be installed." Then looking up THAT fix, I downloaded a new OS and redownloaded the Desktop Manager, but am getting the same error.
I bought a second hand bb 9700 3 months ago. I had the phone on pre-paid BIS + Airtime so I could have access to the internet, bb messenger, gmail email, and phone-related uses. The phone worked fine with no issues whatsoever. Last week, I tried calling someone and received the message - Call Failed. I thought it was credit so I tried loading airtime on the phone. When I did that I received the following message: Supplementary Service Error: General Error.
It's been 1.5 weeks and still the phone does not work: The phone has perfect coverage indicator. The phone has working BIS, BB messenger and internet. The phone cannot work the telephony part of it - calls (outgoing/incoming, SMS, MMS). I cannot call anyone, cannot check Voicemail, cannot load airtime. I have tried re-sending service books, hard reset pulling the battery out, manually registering with the wireless network.
I've tried signing into Facebook via my new 9700 and am getting the following error message:Error encountered during XML parse: End tag does not match start tag 'head'.Has anybody else had this message? How do I get around it so I can access my Facebook account?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my 9700 i can open the browser, and type in links or whatever i want into it, however once the new site shows up, it will no longer let me do anything. If i go to google i can type in what i want to search but then when i hit enter it doesnt respond, same as if i try to click on the search icon it doesnt do anything. If once on any page i can move the arrow around just unable to click or do anything else and if i need to reinstall browser please let me know what my options are.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLike many of you , I'm having WiFi connection problems with my new BB9700.When I am out of the house, I can see my BB finding local WiFI hotspots and I can connect to them immediately.However, when I get home, my BB doesn't connect to my WiFi, returning the following error message:
Unable to Connect
Reason: Failed to obtain an IP address
I have downloaded the latest BB software (now running version 5.0.0.351), cold booted everything in sight (router, phone, coffee table and the cat) but still get the same error. My foot hurts, the cat isn't talking to me and I still cannot connect at home ! Of course my Carrier's connection works perfectly as does their outrageous fee structure... (They are 3G, or Hutchinson Telecom by another name.)My WiFi service provider (PCCW / Netvigator Hong Kong) has checked the setup of my system and reports that everything is working correctly. I can connect my PS3, my laptop, my Nokia E71 without any problem and the hotline guy can see when I connect each of them to the system.I have tried different combinations of switching the usual options on and off on the BB but still can't get a connection.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been a BB lover for years. My Curve 5320 served me well and I loved it. When the new Bold 9700 was released I was one of the first to get it b/c businesses were offered the opportunity to get it before individuals. I was so excited about 3G, it's sleek look, etc. My excitement has officially crashed and burned. When placing calls it will fail repeatedly before even dialing the number. It will fail during calls up to 5 and 6 times in a few minute period, which is HORRIBLE during business calls. It will lock up when I'm trying to move between apps, it will spontaneously shut itself off. I'm feeling like my BB is possessed. This is my second 9700. The first the E key would stick or repeat 20 times on a text and the calls would fail, so they diligently sent me a new one. Thankfully, I no longer have to edit every text for 100 e's (i'm stopping @ theeeeeee storeeeeeeeeeee is theeeeeeereeeeeee anything you neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed), but the failed calls thing is really pissing me off! Also, the volume on calls is really low in comparison to my Curve. To top it off, the 3G speed seems as slow as, if not slower than my former EDGE. I am hoping and praying that a software upgrade will fix all of these issues, but if it doesn't are there any suggestions as to what i can do? Other than switching to an iPhone? I for one happen to love my Qwerty keyboard and am not exactly fond of the on-screen keyboards.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a BlackBerry Bold 9700. I have an unread message indicator (little yellow envelope +3) on my screen, but I don't have any unread messages in my list.
So far, I've tried the following:
1. Typed "u" to search for unread messages and it tells me that I have no unread messages.
2. I went into my email and selected "mark prior unopened" and still nothing.
3. I've tried to restart the phone the phone. When I do, I end up with even more unread messages that I have to select -- over and over again! I can always get it back down to 3, but no fewer.
4. The date and time on my phone appears to be correct.
5. I have no "saved" messages on my phone.
6. I have no new or saved voicemail on my phone.
I've tried and tried to solve this - if anyone can help then that would be fab.On my BB Bold 9700 I've got too many message icons.I've got one for my work email - useful...One for my SMS and MMS - useful.One for my personal email - useful.And one stupid one that wants to group all the messages into one place and mix then up and notify me (even though the other ones already notify me) etc etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got my Blackberry Bold 9700 and I used to use crunchsms on my Blackberry Curve 8520 so I didn't mind the message indicator whenever I got an email because crunchsms had it's own message indicator. I now realize that whenever I receive a text and email it results to the same message indicator. I have done: Messages > Options > Inbox Settings and have unclicked my email account so that the message inbox remain separate. I don't understand how I have the latest OS version yet have to deal with this. Is there someone who can help? Or is there a theme that I can download that separates the sms/mms and email complete so that I may get two entire different message notifications?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI"ve had my bold 9700 for one month. The first 3 weeks were fine, all of a sudden, I keep getting the message icons at the top of the screen, but there are NO messages. I've deleted all messages, texts, phone calls etc., icon is still there. AT&T, nor the blackberry store seems to have a solution. I don't want to have to pull my battery every time this happens (multiple times per day).

I`ve tried taking out the battery deleting all chats and messages on my phone and also deleting bbm all together and even when i did this it still said I had the unread messages. I have no group updates nor have I synced a blackberry messenger contact with an existing phonebook contact. The only thing I think it may be is someone I`ve deleted trying to contact be but I`ve removed all deleted contacts from my ignored list so why arn`t the chats showing up?

just got the new 9700. i plugged it up and i am getting this message "usb charging current is not sufficient. verify that your handheld is connected to a powered usb charging source and that the proper usb driver is installed".
i have unistalled and re installed DM using the cd that came with it. i checked mass storage is on. i have done battery pulls etc. am using windows 7 and my usb is 2.0.
my old bold 9000, works fine. DM recognizes it, i can back up my stuff. i just need to restore that info on my new BB9700 and its just not happened.
So you know normally you will get a message when your battery is low that says "Battery too low for radio use" and the radio comes off. Well twice that stopped happening. Battery was low but instead of getting the message, my phone just cuts off like if the battery is dead. Any explanation as to why this is happening? It happened two out of two times.

View 14 Replies View RelatedGot my first Blackberry, a 9700, last week, and installed the desktop software yesterday. It suggested I did an update, so I did. Everything appeared to go well, no problems, and the phone rebooted OK, and appeared to be functioning OK, and I've received emails and text messages, and made and received calls OK since then.....until this afternoon. Was sitting there, the phone in it's pouch, and I noticed the red light flashing. I thought I had received an email or something that I had missed, so, take the phone out of the pouch, and notice it's rebooting. And, yes, you guessed, it the message 'Reload Software 507' sitting prettily in the middle of the screen against a white background.
Any ideas as to what to do from here on? I guess I'm going to try and reload software, as suggested, from the desktop program. Any hints or tips would be appreciated at this point in time. I have tried pulling the battery, and waiting 30 seconds, but makes no difference.
Odd glitch on the 9700. It's one thing that drives me nuts because the OS interface is placing an SMS notifier saying I have a new one, I see that I have one new message, I hover over the SMS icon on the home screen and it has a prefix (1). I deleted ALL sms msgs and it's still telling me I have one. What do I do? This happened after I did a backup and restore. Maybe because I had an unread SMS before restoring data from my old 8330?
