BB Bold 9700 :: Failed Calls & Lock Ups - Volume On Calls Is Really Low
Feb 13, 2010
I have been a BB lover for years. My Curve 5320 served me well and I loved it. When the new Bold 9700 was released I was one of the first to get it b/c businesses were offered the opportunity to get it before individuals. I was so excited about 3G, it's sleek look, etc. My excitement has officially crashed and burned. When placing calls it will fail repeatedly before even dialing the number. It will fail during calls up to 5 and 6 times in a few minute period, which is HORRIBLE during business calls. It will lock up when I'm trying to move between apps, it will spontaneously shut itself off. I'm feeling like my BB is possessed. This is my second 9700. The first the E key would stick or repeat 20 times on a text and the calls would fail, so they diligently sent me a new one. Thankfully, I no longer have to edit every text for 100 e's (i'm stopping @ theeeeeee storeeeeeeeeeee is theeeeeeereeeeeee anything you neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed), but the failed calls thing is really pissing me off! Also, the volume on calls is really low in comparison to my Curve. To top it off, the 3G speed seems as slow as, if not slower than my former EDGE. I am hoping and praying that a software upgrade will fix all of these issues, but if it doesn't are there any suggestions as to what i can do? Other than switching to an iPhone? I for one happen to love my Qwerty keyboard and am not exactly fond of the on-screen keyboards.
I wasn't too happy today when somebody rear ended my car and I was trying to make important phone calls..."WiFi preferred" selected, but the 9700 (OS 593) choose a 1 bar UMA over a 4.5 bar cell signal... Failed calls galore... Literally had to stop what I was doing and tell the 9700 to use the obviously better cell signal...
I'm unable to receive or make calls. It says "Initialization Failed" and I have no coverage (SOS). I removed the battery to reset it but it's still not working. What should I do?
I have a BB Bold 9700 white. I recently downloaded a couple of apps from appworld and they ran fine. The thing is my network company is 3 and personally I think they are S*** to be honest. The network keeps going onto 'SOS calls only' alot of the time so I called the company up and they asked me to reboot my BB. After archiving all my apps in appworld I rebooted it and guess what...all the apps disappeared.Downloaded appworld again to check if they were on it but no luck. They were however on my memory card but the thing is it says it cant open the file. All the files end in '.cod.rem' and they are all 'forward locked' whatever that means. Anyone know what's going on and how to get the apps working again?
I live in Downtown Los Angeles, so reception isn't a problem. I usually always get full bars. However, when talking on long phone calls 20+ minutes with full bars, my phone will just cut off and say call failed. Then I have no reception, then it just comes back.
Is this a iPhone issue or a ATT issue? I have an odd suspicion it's my phone because it occurs so frequently, but Ive had difficulty asking the apple bar to replace my phone just because of reception issues.
Experiencing super low microphone volume when using hangout calls on speakerphone/video calls? The other person i'm calling says they can barely hear me.
Any one in Houston Texas also experience poor 3G coverage and lots of failed calls? In the many years that we have had cell phones we have not had this many regular dropped and failed calls in Houston. With all 4 new 9000's we find that we also have to reboot to get emails and text messages delivered, sometimes.
I've only had it a couple of weeks and it has now started turning itself off during calls. So far this hasn't happened at any other time, only during calls.

Hi I have an unlocked bb bold 9000 originally from rogers. I am currently using it on fido and it seems to have a weak signal strength thus, my calls are usually dropped or failed.
Sometimes I need my in-call volume high and sometimes low depending on where I am. The up doesn't work for anything, in-call volume, music, etc. I've had the phone a few months now.
My Bold 9700 has been answering calls by itself sometimes. A call will come in and it will automatically answer, but only once in a while. I do not have it set to auto answer. This problem continues until a battery pull is done. Once I pull the battery it works fine again for a while but it will happen again after about a day of working fine. Another problem is that the phone tends to reboot itself very often. After being on the phone for a while it will restart itself, sometimes in the middle of a call. I have called tmobile's blackberry support multiple times and they are no help. I have wiped the device from my blackberry. I have also redone the handheld software and used the application loader to do it. I have no idea why this problem is occuring!! Does anyone else have the same problem or know how to fix it?
How do I make it so I don't recieve calls. I used to have a sony erricson and I had a setting that the calls would go straight to the machine and I could still get calls and texts. I wanna turn my calls off so that people don't call me for the next few days but I still wanna keep my phone on cuz I wanna get texts.
i just purchased a replacement bb bold 9000 off ebay (it's an unlocked at&t handset that i bought after my bb bold got stolen... total bummer) and it was working fine all week up until last night when it stopped being able to handle incoming and outgoing calls and texts. The internet and email functions still work which is very peculiar. also some further info, when i put my sim card into another handset (in this case a nokia e65) all my normal call functions work and when i put another sim card in the bold the same thing happens (when i try to make a call it instantly pops up with a call failed warning). another thing is the bold shows full service coverage... currently the bold about shows... v4.6.0.304 (Platform 4.0.0.247) im on australia and for some reason i cant update the os to v5
I'm on Tmobile's network and since I've had this bold which I bought the 1st week it was released has been dropping almost 3-4 calls a day. I've talked to tmobile's reps over 10 times now and we have reloaded all my software and am ready to give up on BB. This is my first BB, switched from iphone and I had never dropped 1 call on that phone.
Tmobile is suggesting that I trade in my phone, but the problem is I'm sure they will send me a refurb which I definitely do not want since I paid full price $485 for a new phone.
Is anyone else having issues with their phone placing emergency calls? I find the new lock/unlock buttons and lack of a trackball making my phone somehow calling 911 from the keylock menu. One time I even had the police call me back being like "what's the emergency".
First time poster here. Can anyone tell me if there is a way of knowing which calls have diverted from my office number and which are made directly to my Blackberry 9700? Is there an app or a setting that will show which calls are diverted calls and which aren't? I often set a call divert on my office landline to my 9700, but I can't tell which calls were originally made to my office number and which were made direct to my BB. I'd like to know whether the people calling are expecting that I'm at my desk or if they understand that I might be out and about. Is there any way of doing this? Thanks a million.
I'm with a Telus provider and just this afternoon I've been having trouble sending outgoing calls and incoming calls and sending out bbm's. I was wondering if you guys have it too if you guys are with Telus. I really thought that they fixed the network and everything was fine. Reply back on suggestions on what I should do, because I already called technical support and they said they're in the process of fixing it.
The wierdest things had happen to my blackberry. Before I go on, it involved 2 simcard.
Simcard A : simcard with BBM and full data service is registered to (Indonesian network)
Simcard B : without BBM registration, etc. (Indonesian network)
This is how it started. I have brought my phone from Indonesia to China. As I tried to use my BBM, it wont work. I tried switching on WIFI but all I got is the dull grey wifi icon. I tried so many setting but it would not work. Remember, I am using simcard A.Now, I pull out simcard A and put simcard B on. I dont know what happen, I start receiving BBM messages. I was so afraid of getting charge for data roaming, I quickly switch connection prefference to 'wifi only' with my WIFI connection on. At the home screen, next to the small antenna icon, it says 'OFF' so i assumed mobile signal is OFF. To my supprise, my BBM is still receiving messages and I can reply them no problem. Again I assumed it was connected through WIFI. What is so weird is, while i was chatting away with WIFI ON (still dull grey icon) and mobile signal OFF, I suddenly receive a phone call.
Can anyone tell me what is going on with my Blackberry? Am I being charge for data roaming while I was chatting away or I was just receiving and sending data through WIFI? but why the calls came in with mobile signal OFF?
I have a blackberry bold 9700 with TMobile that cannot make or receive calls as of yesterday. Texts and email work fine and I have done a battery pull about five times. When I try to make a call, there is this constant clicking, almost like a pulse sounds that comes through the phone. I tried to call my wife's phone and her phone rings with my number but no voice goes through. Same problem when I receive a call, the pulse thing happens and it goes to voice mail...which I of course can't check. I have had this phone for almost two years and this has never happened before. This just started happening yesterday with no changes to the phone (OS update, new app, etc.).
My blackberry bold 9700 can't call out or receive calls it keeps showing an error message.Uncaught exception:applicationregistry.waitfor(0x7c802477365c3985)timeout

I've recently updated my 9700 OS to 6 and am having tons of problems with it now. My phone is now very slow, sometimes it freezes up and my phone calls won't come in. Every once in awhile my screen won't turn on even though I have not turned off my phone and the only way to start it back up is to pull the battery. I also get a message saying my application memory is low and I've never had this problem before nor have I downloaded any new 3rd party apps.
For the last few days all of my calls are breaking up on incoming and outgoing. At first I thought that it was the other person that I was talking to but after doing many calls, it is my phone. Is there anything I could do to get this problem solved?
my BB 9700 will only make/recieve calls with a headset attached. When I remove the headset during a call or before, the phone starts flipping between Headset and phone. I can't make or answer any phone calls with just the phone. My speakers work fine with music or other apps. It's just making or answering a phone call that makes the phone switch between headset back & forth. Does anyone know how to fix this or possibly why it happened? Is anyone having this same problem?
For some odd reason missed calls are not showing on my call log.And for reference I have done the following:
- Checked and searched forums / the web
- Did a battery pull
- Checked application memory, standing strong at 85 MB
- Memory card has 1.8GB As well
- Cleared browser history and other memory 'stuff' just for the sake of it
The problem is old Missed calls are showing, but the new ones aren't. I haven't got the slightest clue why really, and I'm hoping someone here can help me out.
I have a blackberry bold 9700 with the latest software .862the phone has been unlocked and was originally on O2 UK.i however am using a 3uk Sim and the simcard itself is relatively new.i am constantly throughout my day receiving the error "sim not allowed".can someone please advise a possible fix to this as i cant receive or make calls when this happens and the only cure so far i found is a battery pull.
Is anyone else having problems with dropped calls when switching from UMA to 3G? Where I work I do not have a signal in the building, so I keep my WIFI on so I can both make and receive phone calls while inside.
The problem occurs when I'm on the phone and step outside. I lose my connection with the router, and instead of switching from UMA to 3G, my call is dropped, and it takes my phone about 10 seconds to find the 3G signal.I was hopping that upgrading the .442 would solve the problem, but it has not
