BB Bold 9000 :: Switch From Rogers To Fido - Calls Are Usually Dropped Or Failed
Jun 29, 2010
Hi I have an unlocked bb bold 9000 originally from rogers. I am currently using it on fido and it seems to have a weak signal strength thus, my calls are usually dropped or failed.
I'm having trouble with mms I don't have the option in the menu nor the Service Book to restore it. But a Fido, my carrier, CR gave me the apn address which is mms.fido.ca and said this might help. Btw my Bold 9000 is unlocked so she couldn't help me fully because this phone is not sold by Fido. She also didn't know where to input it and I have no idea either.
I recently unlocked a Rogers Bold 9700 and began using it with my Fido sim card. I added a small data plan to my current services from Fido but I am not receiving any data. I have called Fido 3 times and they can't seem to do anything. They gave me their APN settings and I have input them manually and still no data.
Any one in Houston Texas also experience poor 3G coverage and lots of failed calls? In the many years that we have had cell phones we have not had this many regular dropped and failed calls in Houston. With all 4 new 9000's we find that we also have to reboot to get emails and text messages delivered, sometimes.
Im having an issue with my unlocked Rogers Blackberry Bold that is on the Fido network.I keep getting intermittent connection switching from; 3G, 3g, 2G, 2g, Edge, EDGE, GSM, gsm. you get the idea Im in an area where I have fully coverage, but seems that something is wrong with my BB. Prior to this all was working fine, never a problem til now.I took my sister's sim card [Rogers] and placed into the BB, and it worked fine, was on the EDGE network but didn't drop or anything. Also I am unable to view the "Network Technology" in the Mobile Network Options. What do I do?I ran a diagonistic and here's what i got. today I picked up a rough looking Bold 9000 and swapped in my spare parts onto it. The catch is, it was a Bell phone. I already unlocked it and it states it is on rogers network now. I don't want the Bell logo/wallpapers to load upon startup, so I though by installing FW Version 5.0.1626 from the blackberry Rogers download page it would fix it.The software update just finished(about 10-15 min) and I see a bell background and bell startup logo. Should the Rogers FW change this over? or are the bell wallpapers/startup logo's programmed into the phone itself and NOT the FW?I don't want to remove the Logo completely, I just rather have it say ROGERS like my old BB and have all the rogers software/configuration.
I have installed the Bell 5.0 OS on my Rogers bold. Everything went pretty well for a week, and I loved this new OS. But this morning, my BB data stopped to work (email, browser etc.) and on the network status screen, it said that it was not connected to BIS. I connected to my Wifi network, and the BIS connection was back (using wifi). I closed Wifi, called Rogers, they sent a new config to my BB, and everything worked for a minute. Then it then stopped again. Suspecting that my OS was a bit messy, I wiped my device and installed 5.0 from scratch. Still no connection to BIS. So I wiped again and installed the latest Official OS from Rogers. Everything was fine. I then upgraded to 5.0 and lost connectivity to BIS again Any idea on what is going on? Anyone is having trouble have their BB connect to BIS?
I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 on Rogers. I was wondering if there was an operating system 5.0 where I can download so I can upgrade my system. I am currently on 4.6
i just purchased a replacement bb bold 9000 off ebay (it's an unlocked at&t handset that i bought after my bb bold got stolen... total bummer) and it was working fine all week up until last night when it stopped being able to handle incoming and outgoing calls and texts. The internet and email functions still work which is very peculiar. also some further info, when i put my sim card into another handset (in this case a nokia e65) all my normal call functions work and when i put another sim card in the bold the same thing happens (when i try to make a call it instantly pops up with a call failed warning). another thing is the bold shows full service coverage... currently the bold about shows... v4.6.0.304 (Platform 4.0.0.247) im on australia and for some reason i cant update the os to v5
So yesterday, my phone died completely (so that it was drained and completely off) and when I plugged it in, the red light went on and it began to load, as usual. wever, when it reached a point, not even a quarter of the bar, it stopped, switched off and restarted. This happened continuously before I unplugged it and the battery drained again.
My phone switched off on Friday, after which I tried to switch it on, it gets about a fifth of the way through the loading bar before it cuts out. The tries again to switch on, but keeps hitting the same point. I see that someone else had a similar problem, the difference is, is that the Desktop Manager also can't read /pick up my phone when I plug it in, so I can't follow any of the other options
I have a BB9700 smartphone i bought in bangkok. Now I'm using it in Australia. The calls incoming from Private Numbers (the nos that are not listed) are getting cut off. It gets disconnected automatically after the 1st ring. I have not used call barring.
Be on a call and all of the sudden the other side cannot hear anything you're saying but you can still hear them. This can happen when you first answer the phone or while you're in the middle of a call. I already got a device replacement and it's still doing the same thing. I only have this problem with 9780 and never with the 9700. I hate to have to downgrade back.
I have Bold 9000 on O2, but since yesterday I have not been able to turn it on. When powered up via usb and PC or direct from mains, all i het is the red message light showing all the time and nothing else ..but sometimes it goes out and on screen is a picture of a battery with a blue zig zag flash running through it. This is a bit random, but seems to alternate between either redlight or battery outline. Plugging Bold into PC and running blackberry desktop manager does not do anything - the desktop manager does not recognise that a device has been plugged in (hence does not show PIN). Has the battery suddenly and completely died? (There were no signs of this happening before - no performance issues etc)
i've blackberry bold 9000 phone. last night i was watching videos on Internet using wifi connection. all of sudden it got stuck and i got white screen. it was around 1:03 am. i was too sleepy so didn't bother to restart the phone and just kept it aside. around at 4 am i got up and found that my bb is dead. i immediately removed battery and tried switching it on. but no luck.then i connected it to my pc using usb for charge( as i don't have wall charger).the red light glows and stays constant whenever its connected(even after i removing battery) to usb. but it don't switch on. even i have already charged (i.e.. kept it connected to my usb) for 4 to 5 hrs. but no luck.
My bold 9000 refuse to change operator when traveling through europe.Work perfect only in France with "Bouygue" There is no access in the menu to authorize the change of operator...I have the latest upgrade software 6.1..
So i've been using att for about two months now since switching from Verizon. Everything was fine at first but recently i would say within the past month i've been dropping calls and having problems with the data services. I'll be streaming slacker radio and all of a sudden it stops and i have to reboot to get it working again. The dropped calls thing is pretty much random. Im running 5.0.0.405.
Anyone else having this problem? I mean the whole surfing while talking thing is nice but if this keeps up im going to have to just bite the bullet pay the early term fee and switch back!
o i'm using only 2 languages, and every time i want to switch using "alt+del", i have to scroll all the way down to hebrew, and then back to english. is there a faster way of doing so? and if there isn't, can i make my second best language option to be top in the list of languages when i switch?
I have been a BB lover for years. My Curve 5320 served me well and I loved it. When the new Bold 9700 was released I was one of the first to get it b/c businesses were offered the opportunity to get it before individuals. I was so excited about 3G, it's sleek look, etc. My excitement has officially crashed and burned. When placing calls it will fail repeatedly before even dialing the number. It will fail during calls up to 5 and 6 times in a few minute period, which is HORRIBLE during business calls. It will lock up when I'm trying to move between apps, it will spontaneously shut itself off. I'm feeling like my BB is possessed. This is my second 9700. The first the E key would stick or repeat 20 times on a text and the calls would fail, so they diligently sent me a new one. Thankfully, I no longer have to edit every text for 100 e's (i'm stopping @ theeeeeee storeeeeeeeeeee is theeeeeeereeeeeee anything you neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed), but the failed calls thing is really pissing me off! Also, the volume on calls is really low in comparison to my Curve. To top it off, the 3G speed seems as slow as, if not slower than my former EDGE. I am hoping and praying that a software upgrade will fix all of these issues, but if it doesn't are there any suggestions as to what i can do? Other than switching to an iPhone? I for one happen to love my Qwerty keyboard and am not exactly fond of the on-screen keyboards.
I recently upgraded to the 9700 with Tmo in December. Coming from an 8900 I thought it would truly be an "upgrade". Since getting the 9700 i have had more dropped calls, call fail, can not access server etc. The phone will even go into a soft reset mid call, text or email for no reason. I called tmo and the replaced the phone and sim card. it worked well for about a day or two and BAM same crap. I am not so sure its the phone anymore. Some people i talk to say it is TMO service but i have never had this problem before and have been with tmo for 3 yrs.any suggestions /advice?
Installed vlingo but later uninstalled. Now there is no "Switch Application" when clicking BB button and scrolling to bottom of list like there use to be? Is there an option for this? I know there are other ways to get to switch application but I would like this option back as well.
I had the option to switch my phone to silent for a period of time of my choice. After that the phone would switch back to normal. The benefit of this was that I could never forget to switch back to normal. For example at the beginning of a meeting with an estimated duration of 2 hours, I would program the phone to a 2 hours silent period and after that it would switch back to normal. This was so handy. Is that possible at my BlackBerry 9000?
I get the above error message when trying to send music from my laptop or other mobile device to my BB Bold 9700, I have stax of memory so thats not the problem, the bizarre thing is that I have done this before but it doesnt seem to allow me to do it now. A few days ago all my music and photos that I had on my mobi just disappeared, so hence trying to put my music back on and it wont let me.
just got a 16gb micro sdhc for my 9000, transfered all my stuff from my 8gb perfectly and can play all file off computer. but once i plugged it into my berry it said "A Media Card has been inserted that contains errors, would you like to repair it?" I select yes and it gives me the message "Media Card Repair Failed"
This Nokia c203 is not as ruged as many other nokia products. My own fell down from about .5 meter and permnently switch off. I have taken it for repair, but stil not working. What else can i do?
I love my FlipOut, really, but I borrowed a Samsung ACE (android) from my daughter for the week-end, and I must say that it is by far superior as a phone. No dropped calls, no "emercency calls only", no unsent text messages, no buffer overrun while streaming radio from the net.It seem that the size matters, when reception is poor.
I wasn't too happy today when somebody rear ended my car and I was trying to make important phone calls..."WiFi preferred" selected, but the 9700 (OS 593) choose a 1 bar UMA over a 4.5 bar cell signal... Failed calls galore... Literally had to stop what I was doing and tell the 9700 to use the obviously better cell signal...
