Im having an issue with my unlocked Rogers Blackberry Bold that is on the Fido network.I keep getting intermittent connection switching from; 3G, 3g, 2G, 2g, Edge, EDGE, GSM, gsm. you get the idea Im in an area where I have fully coverage, but seems that something is wrong with my BB. Prior to this all was working fine, never a problem til now.I took my sister's sim card [Rogers] and placed into the BB, and it worked fine, was on the EDGE network but didn't drop or anything. Also I am unable to view the "Network Technology" in the Mobile Network Options. What do I do?I ran a diagonistic and here's what i got.

I'm having trouble with mms I don't have the option in the menu nor the Service Book to restore it. But a Fido, my carrier, CR gave me the apn address which is mms.fido.ca and said this might help. Btw my Bold 9000 is unlocked so she couldn't help me fully because this phone is not sold by Fido. She also didn't know where to input it and I have no idea either.
I've got Googe maps, BTC Mapper, and Endomondo on my phone. They all use GPS to track you, plot where you have been, and save tracks for you to chek out later. They work nice. I use them a lot for walking, running, and bicycling. My question though, is the GPS actually using the GPS satellites in orbit, or is it using triangulation off several cell towers to get my location? If it is using GPS satellites, why is it that if I turn off all connections (Mobile Network Sprint & Wi-Fi), I lose all GPS connections as well? If this device is atually getting signals from the satellites, what difference does it make if I am in a cell coverage area or not?I've read that, yes, the location is retrieved from the satellites, but to plot it on the maps takes the cell connection. If that is the case, is there an app that just logs longitude and latitude every second and stores it in a file that can be dumped to a map at a later time?
The reason I bring all this up is because, later this summer, I plan to go on a 2-week long cruise that will visit about a dozen different Carribean islands and I'd like to track my location. At sea, I won't be able to pick up a cell signal. Will the GPS tracking apps like google, still work? Even if I can't get a cell signal, my GPS should still be able to pick up satellite signals
Ok so I've had a good look through here and not found anything yet that's similar to my problem. I have had my Bold for about a month now and everything was hunky dory except I started to notice that 3G was never on even when i set the settings to only use 3G at which point it just went out of signal. So, basically I set the settings back to 2G&3G and I always received just EDGE which was actually good enough for me. However, this last week I have not been able to make outgoing calls, texts or use the browser due to all 'edge', '3g' etc being missing from the signal bit on the screen (top right) all there was was the signal bars. Anyway I reset the phone and everything was fine. but now it happens about every 2 hours! Does anyone else have this same problem or know how to fix it? Turning my phone on and off every couple of hours is starting to grate on me now.
Got a new BB Bold, and have connected it to our WIFI hub at home to try to boost the signal as we have little or no network coverage at home, but despite a strong wifi signal on being picked up by my laptop the BB wifi signal is intermittent even when right beside the home hub.
I have a 920 that has given me fits since I got it a week ago. I have had this happen at several hotel, work and home locations. What happens is that at some point during the day, I want to connect to the Wi-Fi whereever I am at. So I turn on the screen, go into Settings/Wi-Fi and I am not able to connect to anything. The Wi-Fi option is turned ON but the toggle for it is grayed out and you cannot change it (to ON or OFF). Also, there is a progress bar scrolling across as it indicates "Searching". It will stay that way for HOURS if you wait that long.I also noticed that if I go to Bluetooth settings at this point, I cannot turn that On or Off either (although the toggle is not grayed out). The rest of the phone and app functions work normal at this point. The only way to get WiFi or BT working is to reboot the phone, then everything will work for a while and at some point in time, this will happen all over again.
Over time my mute/standby button has stopped working. I've thought about taking it apart and seeing whats going on but I haven't had a chance. Anyone else had this issue and have any idea how to fix it?At first I thought it might be a network issue, since for some odd reason my wife's 8310 Curve's mute/standby button seemed to want to not work around the same times as my Bold's, and when my Bold would work, so would my wife's Curve. Very strange. But now it seems like neither phone will go in to standby, and the mute button doesn't work during calls either.Pulling the battery doesn't make any difference, and the problem has withstood several OS upgrades.Incidentally, both my wife's Curve and my Bold have had case changes that I did myself, my wife's Curve upgraded to a new Berryware case, and I put a black bezel, new keyboard, and black trackball on my Bold. I thought this might have had something to do with the button not working anymore, but it was causing troubles intermittently before that. It just got more frequent since I did the modding to the point now where it never seems to work.
I own a BB Bold and stay in Namibia, we do not have Service Providers with Wi-Fi services. My problem is how can I get on the web just with using a normal 3g/GPRS connection. I currently only have the hotspot browser and no other options.
I just got a warranty replacement bold. Trackball died. I loaded from a backup and went to reinstall only the apps I wanted to keep. A battery pull this morning and my memory was at 35m. Now, its 9m. Another battery pull puts it back at 35m. I have no apps in the switcher still running. All that show are the browser, phone, messages, home, and bbmessenger. Is there some memory leak? Is there a way to fix it or delete the offending app? Appworld shows memory dropping as I install apps. Can the app install location be changed to the device memory and not app memory? This is based on my understanding of pc components (app memory solid state and fast RAM, device memory solid state, but slower, drive like the SD card)
i have just got a reconditioned BB torch after my previous one couldnt be repaired. I have set it up fine, except when I try to log in to BB App world it says it is having trouble connecting to the BB App world server, Verify your network connections and try again.
My iPhone network connections (WiFi/4G) are extermely slow after performing the update to IOS 5.1! Speedtest.Net results over 4G = 0.15 Mpbs down and 0.05 Mpbs up ans that's will FULL bars! AT&T claims that there are no network issues in my area and they are not throttling my device. Even over WiFi it's taking FOREVER to download apps from the app store, etc.
I have a Blackberry Bold on which I had the Bluetooth working fine until recently and now despite a reset and wiping the handheld completely and restoring as my Help desk suggested, the Bluetooth won't stay "on". The tick appears briefly in the square but then disappears and there is a red X beside Bluetooth in the "Manage Connections" screen. I've also tried getting my Bold to search and listen for other devices at the time I turn Bluetooth on but nothing seems to work! Please help as I have a Bluetooth car-kit that I can't use and the wired headset affects my hearing whilst I'm driving!
When I go to compose a test message it tells me the radio s off. I go to the Manage Connections app and it says the Mobile network is off. I can turn it backl on but it doesn't stay on. How can I fix this?
Can anyone help me with the problem.... I keep getting the messege "Blackberry App World is having trouble connecting to the BlackBerry App World Server. Verify your network connections and try again (Error Id: 30637)"
I've been using my iphone's data to connect to the internet on my pc and my ipad for ages. The last few weeks, it kept dropping out and I had to turn personal hotspot off and on again to reconnect. Yesterday however, a new problem arose. I turn the hotspot on and both my pc and my ipad are not even showing my iphone as an option to use as a wireless internet connection. I have reset netowrk settings'' but the problem persists.
Having a problem with bluetooth (and only when bluetooth is enabled). I power off my headset, but leave bluetooth turned on on the BB. Then sometime later -- between 30 min and 4 hours), my signal indicator goes from 1XEV to 1xev (lowercase) and my network connectivity drops. I can reset with a battery pull, or by disabling the radio and re-enabling it. This never has happened with bluetooth disabled. I tried being non-discoverable and disabling the serial port profiles, to no avail.
I have seem edited my V3xx so I can select which network I want to be on.But I have noticed whenever I am on the edge network my phone will drop an incoming call as soon as I answer. Before I revert back to the original seem edits I wanted to know if there is anything else I can do. Or If this is a known issue I created by my seems modifications.
If Wifi drops or I turn it off, the remaining icons go white, and then if you go to settings, about phone, status, the phone states UMTS and then switches to HSPA, and it states on network "Connecting, or Disconnected" A power Cycle will sometimes help. If I turn wifi back on, I have a Blue wifi, white H+, and a Blue Network Signal strength.
This maybe a dumb question for most, but i'm a bit tech dumb.if i turn my mobile network off i can't make or receive phone calls, correct?can i surf on wifi with the mobile network turned on? if so, how do i make sure i'm using wifi and not using up my MB's on my data plan?
My iPhone 4s drops network services and keeps searching for about 2 hours and then starts working again. I reset all the settings etc and makes no difference to it and still won't work. Checked the sim and network and there are no issues with it.
my husband's bold (att unlocked version) won't stay on t-mobile's network. i have it set as the #1 preferred network, but in certain areas, it switches to att's network, thus giving him an sos signal, and the phone is useless. everything else works fine. any ideas? i've searched, and wasn't able to find anything about this.
