If Wifi drops or I turn it off, the remaining icons go white, and then if you go to settings, about phone, status, the phone states UMTS and then switches to HSPA, and it states on network "Connecting, or Disconnected" A power Cycle will sometimes help. If I turn wifi back on, I have a Blue wifi, white H+, and a Blue Network Signal strength.
View 2 RepliesI think the content of this forum shows that there is clearly a problem with iPhone 4S / IOS 5.1.1 and Wi-Fi. My Setup: I live in an awful house for Wi-Fi - not only is it spread-out, but it also has metal sheets laid across every floor to reflect under floor heat upwards and, of course, to kill Wi-Fi signal dead. To get decent coverage I have 1 wireless router and 3 access points all using the same SSID and password, but using different channels (separated as much as possible physically and by frequency). The four units are connected by wire (over the power lines). This setup has worked fine for several years. It still works fine for my iPhone 3G, iPad 1, iPad 3, Squeezeboxes, MacBook Air, laptop PCs etc. (I program and use this kit for testing as well as playing).
The Problem: The Saturday before last I bought an iPhone 4S to upgrade to (as my trusty iPhone 3G was broken (I dropped it :-( )). The iPhone 4 connects to the Wi-Fi nicely (so its not a security issue) but drops out after a few minutes and then refuses to re-connect. I am current still testing, but I believe it also drops out if I move in the house from one AP's strong area to another's. I suspect it hangs onto the weak channel and refuses to change. If I walk back to the AP that I originally connected to it re-connects. I never had this problem with the iPhone 3G. I still don't (its repaired :-) ). And I am now testing by taking both phones with me as I roam about the house. Both phones are running IOS5.1.1 and the 3G works perfectly whilst the 4S drops out and throws a hissy fit. how to tell which Wi-Fi channel your iPhone is connected to? If I could find that information I could test my theory about the roaming not working. When making suggestions please remember that all my other devices work just fine, including my iPhone 3G which is physically touching the 4S that won't work. Therefore I may be a little sceptical if anyone suggests I upgrade the router (which I can't because its a Virgin one and updates automatically).

Don't know if it's just me, but occasionally I'll get my Wi-Fi tab (in Action Center and Settings) reporting that networks are "available" but it can't connect to any. Even my own network to which I connect all the time.
I have discovered that after a Reboot everything is back to normal. Wi-Fi connects fine.
I seem to have isolated it to when you leave a premises still connected Wi-Fi and let it drop-off you get this behaviour.
But surely you shouldn't have to turn Wi-Fi off every time you leave a place!!!
My wife and I have identical ATRIX 2 phones just over a year old. Always has been some strange things happening staying connected to wifi network but that finally corrected itself on both phones
After ICS update in November i have to toggle Airplane mode on and off to get wifi connection back after a period of not useing it on my phone .
My wife was reluctant to update hers when I did as she doesn't like change. However over time her phone kept droping wifi network connection. I would have to power it down and remove battery and sim card to get it to stay on wif for a few days. Finaly that was no longer a fix. I went to a AT&T hotspot and downloaded the latest ICS update.on her phone No matter what I do it will connect to our network wifi and bring in mail etc for about ten seconds then the singal bars change from white to blue, The settings menue shows wifi still on blue connected but the signal bars shows blue. Her data use would indicate it is indee using cingular data.
Is there a known issues with the 950XL (or Win 10 in general) regarding wifi stability. My 950XL refuses to stay connected to the 5.0GHz wifi network. After reboot it will find and connect to the network fine, but after about 10 to 15 minutes the connection drops. When I go to the available wifi list, all the 5.0 GHz networks are missing and only the 2.4 GHz ones are offered. The only way I have found to get the phone to find the 5.0 GHz ones was forcing a reboot.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have any recommendations to improve the reception (and thus prevent excessively frequent dropped calls) while using my Atrix 4G in a fringe reception area outside of San Diego?Some background info:I had an AT&T Nokia 6030 for almost five (5) years before upgrading my service to the Atrix.I live and work from the same location, which has not changed during those five years.I did not encounter the problems of dropping calls on the Nokia 6030. I routinely call the very same people at aproxmately the very same times and days of the week with the very same phone numbers from the very same locations in my home and shop... sitting in my office desk chair, standing at my shop workbench, seated at my kitchen table, lying on my bed... and as far as I can telI, nothing on my end or on the other person's end has changed... phone numbers, land or mobile, calling patterns... but ever since I upgraded to the Atrix, I've had this problem consistently from the very first day.
I contacted AT&T many times, and they sent a warranty replacement phone; same resulting performance.The signal strength meter on the phone typically reads 2-3 bars in this area, which AT&T says should be sufficient.)It is so touchy and position/orientation sensitive that I can often drop the call from simply turning my head, or if lying in bed at night, switching the phAT&T went through the entire customer service/tech support gamut with me:Power down recycle, remove & reinstall the battery, replace the original SIM card that came with the Nokia (which still works flawlessly under identical circumstances if I put the SIM card back into it!), run network diagnostics on the tower equipment... they even sent out a crew of field engineers to the property to assess the signal characteristics.
After months of evaluation by the engineering department, they finally determined that the San Diego area is very high in signal strength, and the problem is due to the immediate area where I am located... hills, valleys, canyons, etc. There was nothing more that they could do. That was simply the level of performance I had to accept from this phone in this location. (Sorry.)I still don't know why the primitive technology in that old Nokia doesn't miss a beat. I find it hard to accept that the flagship product with advanced technology can't perform anywhere near as well as this dated Nokia.But I like the Atrix so much in every other way, I would even pay for a stationary antenna and/or signal conditioning/amplification equipment at my location to be able to use it here.
I have not found any such equipment offered for sale by either Motorola or AT&T listed on their websites. I know that there are aftermarket companies that sell such items, but I would really like to know if anyone has any specific experience with those items, particularly when used with the Atrix, or at least any reason to advise in one way or another toward a solution.
What do these Icons represent or mean, and the meaning when they change Colors from White to Blue (Status Icons). There was a GB 2.3.4 User Manual Posted on Moto's site, Unfortunately no information was included about these Items. What does it mean when all three are blue, Including the H+ icon having arrows beneath it at the same time? Is it also Possible to have the Intro Video Posted or embedded to this thread as well please.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo just in the last few days my phone has started having some issues. I got a Powerbot wireless charger(PB1020) about the same time I got my phone at release. It's worked fine , and still does as far as I know. But know, after my phone is fully charged, when I remove it from the charger it's pretty warm(this is a new development, not really had it get very warn on the wireless charger before) and then it begins to connect and disconnect from the wifi repeatedly. I'm talking like every second it switches. I keep seeing people saying to turn off Smart Network Switch, but I did that the second day I had my phone, and it's still off, so obviously its something else.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had been using my N900 for 2 weeks without any issues. I never updated the software. Last night I was trying to take a picture and opened the camera lens cover. Accidentally I pressed the power button instead of the camera capture key while trying to take the picture. The display went off. I also found the phone felt warmer than usual. I took the battery out, put it in and tried again. No success. This time the phone did seem to be getting hot. I took the battery out and tried several hours later. No effect - the phone wasn't feeling warm either. I tried both the USB and wall charger - the LED was glowing green, but the phone wouldn't turn on.
Now even with the charger connected, the LED doesn't glow. Being a Sunday, I can't contact Nokia Care till tomorrow. Breaks my heart to think the hardware could get messed up so easily. We've had several Nokias in the family but not a high end one like N900. I've tried everything suggested in other forurms (including Maemo). I tried to update software with NSU. The NSU can't even detect the N900 when I connect it to the USB port. Probably suggests the battery is flat. I don't have a 5800 to try and recharge the battery externally - its shocking to know the phone can't charge if the battery is flat. If a laptop can why can't a "smart" phone? Anything else I can try?
We have 4 droid 3 phones here. The one I updated to 5.7.906 will now stop showing blue bars of wifi strength at the top of the screen after some time ( happens during inactivity but also during downloads ). The ones not updated ( 5.6.890 ) still continue to work flawlessly on wifi.In settings the updated phone still shows as connected to our network with bars of signal strength even though no bars highlighted are at the top of the screen.If I stop wifi on the phone and restart it it connects properly and gets the blue bars back at the top of screen and I can access the network. After some time though the blue bars will disapear and the phone will not be able to access the network ( even though in settings it will still show as connected with signal strength)I have checked battery saver options, gone through the process of forgetting settings on the phone and rebooting the router, removed all security from the router and done a factory reset of the phone ( which did not revert back to the old system version ). As the unupdated phones still work properly I am happy that the issues lies with the new update and as it still occurrs after a factory reset it suggests that the issue is not caused by a 3rd party app resident on the phone.Is there anyway I can undo the update on this phone so it will work properly again? Or is there any other way to get wifi working consistently again?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo at first I thought that the Razr had a weak WiFi reception. So I decided to install a WiFi access point in my office, basically on my desk. I connected the Razr to it but yet, it still occasionally shows a low signal or drops the connection completely then reconnects, works for a bit then drops it again. I'm at a point where I had to turn WiFi off on my phone because it was draining my battery so fast from flipping between the Cellular network and WiFi network way to often. I also have a Glaxy Tab 7.0 Plus connected to the same access point and it never drops a connection and it shows 100% strong on the signal.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had my BB 9700 for just over a month now, without having any issues whatsoever with the handset, and recently my 9700 refuses to connect to my wireless network at home, it finds the network, acquires an IP address, and connection speed even displays the signal strength, but looking at the Wi-Fi diagnostics on the BB there seems to be a problem with the Infrastructure, it attempts to connect and continuously fails.
I have tried restarting the BB, and the router, this doesn't seem to solve the problem though.
Has anyone else had or heard of this issue before? And are there any solutions?
I am on T-Mobile and the BB is not unlocked or anything of that nature.
The first indication of something wrong was the issue where my Droid 3 began connecting to my network extender only with 1x. But, the problem was worse than that, because it would then connect to a distant, weak tower for 3G. It would lose signal, then switch back to the network extender, where it would lose 3G once again and fall back to 1x. (How do I know it was swapping to a distant tower?the network extender team diagnosed it while I was on a phone call with them and told me they were seeing it do it live on their screens).
They "did something" (I don't know know what that something was), and it seemed to clear up for a while.Then, it came back. Another call to their network extender group, and they "upped the power" of the extender and the problem went away... for two weeks.Today, it started again. Only this time, it was doing the same behavior between two *actual* cell towers at work! The network extender wasn't in the mix, this time.My original Droid, Droid 2 Global, my son's Droid X and my wife's iPhone 4 all have NO problem with the extender (nor any other aspect of the service). This Droid 3 has failed in this manner three times, now.What's up, Moto? Can anything else fail with this phone? Camera blows, keys repeat, social networking is flaky, and apparently it has issues maintaining 3G in some situations. What a miserable experience.
I have multiple emails. However, when I am in the email app, I cannot find an easy way to switch between accounts other than settings and changing the default account. Am I missing something, or was this phone really setup with only 1 email in mind?

Network continously drops without any reason. Checked with my service, full strengh areas.Time without connection reaches 25%.I have read it's a 4.0.4 version bug on some phones.
For the last several weeks neither the WiFi nor the Bluetooth will turn on. When selecting to turn on WiFi is starts to turn on then stops and displays Error. About 75% of the time after attempting to turn on the WiFi the phone will reboot. I have factory reset the phone and the WiFi and Bluetooth will work once after the reset but once the phone sleeps neither WiFi nor Bluetooth will operate. This is even after a power down. I have checked my settings and can't find anything that would cause this.

When wifi is turned off or is unavailable after leaving the house, the phone will not automatically switch to 4G LTE data. To switch to 4G, the phone has to be rebooted. Mobile networks is set to CDMA/LTE. Enable data access over Mobile network is set to ON. Enable background data is set to ON. Data Saver is NOT enabled. Is the phone supposed to automatically switch between wifi and mobile data? If so, how can I make it work.

Problem is in accessing the internet, tried with Vodafone different APN configurations but was unsuccessful and still cannot access my email's and browser.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T GoPhone account. When the phone boots up with an AT&T SIM card installed, it goes to the "SIM Network Unlock Pin" request screen. I have worked with both Motorola and AT&T tech support personnel for many, many hours to get my Atrix to accept the unlock code I have been given from AT&T (22314992). The Atrix response is always "Network unlock pin unsuccessful". The phone otherwise works beautifully after a fastboot coldboot (wi-fi, program installs & usage, etc). But one simple problem...I can not make phone calls.
View 3 Replies View Related recently purchased a Motorola Atrix 2 from the Mot Corporate store here in the US. It works well with AT&T SIM but I wanted to unlock it for using an international SIM when traveling outside. I got the unlock code from AT&T but the phone didn't accept the code. I tried the code twice and both times, I got this message "Network Unlock Request Unsuccessful". I have confirmed the IMEI by using *#06# and matching it with the number on the back sticker. I checked with AT&T again and they said that Mot said that the original code provided is the right one for my phone.
So, I am stuck now. I don't know what I can do about this phone. I would really love to be able to use it outside the US and that was one of the reasons I paid an unsubsized price for it.Anyone else facing similar problems with the Atrix 2? Is there a software update that can fix this issue? I don't want to try the same code more times because I am afraid that it will hard lock.
I miss being able to easily send and receive images via text message.
This was a major way that I communicated with my farflung family. With the Atrix, I can't seem to get this to work without going to settings and enabling the data network for everything that might want to use it ( and that seems to be a considerable number of things despite my efforts to choose wireless only options.) I realize I can turn it on briefly to send (though that's a multi-step process) but there's no way to anticipate when an MMS message is coming in.
I want to have an app that displays every server the atrix is connected to,omething like netstat but better.I have seen lots of options on the market, like network monitor for example.

I upgraded the firmware to version 2.0 and now want to upgrade to ver 2.1..The update seems to work OK, but when the phone is rebooted, even after a hard reset, it still shows version 2.0..Also it will not allow any additional application such as Ovi mpas or google maps to install.
