View 4 RepliesDoes anyone have any recommendations to improve the reception (and thus prevent excessively frequent dropped calls) while using my Atrix 4G in a fringe reception area outside of San Diego?Some background info:I had an AT&T Nokia 6030 for almost five (5) years before upgrading my service to the Atrix.I live and work from the same location, which has not changed during those five years.I did not encounter the problems of dropping calls on the Nokia 6030. I routinely call the very same people at aproxmately the very same times and days of the week with the very same phone numbers from the very same locations in my home and shop... sitting in my office desk chair, standing at my shop workbench, seated at my kitchen table, lying on my bed... and as far as I can telI, nothing on my end or on the other person's end has changed... phone numbers, land or mobile, calling patterns... but ever since I upgraded to the Atrix, I've had this problem consistently from the very first day.
I contacted AT&T many times, and they sent a warranty replacement phone; same resulting performance.The signal strength meter on the phone typically reads 2-3 bars in this area, which AT&T says should be sufficient.)It is so touchy and position/orientation sensitive that I can often drop the call from simply turning my head, or if lying in bed at night, switching the phAT&T went through the entire customer service/tech support gamut with me:Power down recycle, remove & reinstall the battery, replace the original SIM card that came with the Nokia (which still works flawlessly under identical circumstances if I put the SIM card back into it!), run network diagnostics on the tower equipment... they even sent out a crew of field engineers to the property to assess the signal characteristics.
After months of evaluation by the engineering department, they finally determined that the San Diego area is very high in signal strength, and the problem is due to the immediate area where I am located... hills, valleys, canyons, etc. There was nothing more that they could do. That was simply the level of performance I had to accept from this phone in this location. (Sorry.)I still don't know why the primitive technology in that old Nokia doesn't miss a beat. I find it hard to accept that the flagship product with advanced technology can't perform anywhere near as well as this dated Nokia.But I like the Atrix so much in every other way, I would even pay for a stationary antenna and/or signal conditioning/amplification equipment at my location to be able to use it here.
I have not found any such equipment offered for sale by either Motorola or AT&T listed on their websites. I know that there are aftermarket companies that sell such items, but I would really like to know if anyone has any specific experience with those items, particularly when used with the Atrix, or at least any reason to advise in one way or another toward a solution.
If Wifi drops or I turn it off, the remaining icons go white, and then if you go to settings, about phone, status, the phone states UMTS and then switches to HSPA, and it states on network "Connecting, or Disconnected" A power Cycle will sometimes help. If I turn wifi back on, I have a Blue wifi, white H+, and a Blue Network Signal strength.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter the most recent update my phone during calls the voice completely drops off. Sometimes it is 3 minutes in and sometimes it is less or more. The call will not drop but I cannot hear the other person and the other person cant hear me. Its like it is muting on its own. Has anyone else had this issue? What do you suppose I should do?

I have serious connectivity issues with my Nexus 5. Most of the time I am only picking up 2G signal, sometimes the connection drops completely. However, I had a very unstable 3G/H/LTE connection for a few minutes sometimes in the last days.This started after changing the battery and upgrading from Cyanogenmod 12 to 12.1. Unfortunately I did both changes at the same time, so I am not sure what caused this problem.
The following things I could rule out/test:
- Another phone (Nexus 4) picks up H+ with my sim
- My phone doesn't pick up 3G/H/LTE with another (working) sim
- I have checked the connections of the both cables running alongside the battery, I also checked the cables itself.
- I fiddled with the apn settings, also I never touched them before and everything worked fine.
- I have updated the radio image.
The one thing I couldn't try is flashing an older cyanogenmod 12, because I have no backup and couldn't find one online.
fetch schedule set to manualunder accounts and my google account, i have data and sync unchecked for everythingwhy am i still getting email pushed or pulled to the phone?the notification is always the messaging icon, so i don't think it's gmail doing it.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have had my Atrix since Nov. havent had any issues with it, until last week when suddenly the radio would stop working. it says i have signal, but i recieve nothing nor am i am able to send anything (text, email, calls, etc) but i have signal. i havent downloaded any bad apps. i also have Norton to "protect" me against bad apps. is there anything that i can do? i have no warranty anymore so will rooting my phone help? also im patiently waiting for ICS but growing more impatient by the day. wish they would give us a little update.

When she is using her every (and I mean every) 45 minutes her phone shuts of the radio. I don't have any problems with mine. I tried going to both phone screen by screen and we both have everything set the same.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is my second Atrix. It is failing to turn on its' Bluetooth radio. I go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth (and Bluetooth Settings) and try to turn Bluetooth on. It indicates that it's turning on Bluetooth and then it fails, returning to the "Turn on bluetooth" message. I've rebooted, done a battery pull, tried to turn it on from Airplane mode...everything short of a factory reset (because I really really really don't want to set this thing up from scratch again!).

There doesn't seem to be a problem using WiFi. Could this be a bit rate problem? I have a totally stable 3.5G connection.

my device is 3 weks old ; working fine until today
running with gps and it just stops and restarts a new run or randomly exits the run; this happens multiple times so I have useles tracking of the run wrist band; never wet or humid or heavily perspired on; up to date firmware
Intermittenly the display screen timeout resets to NEVER. Nothing that I do (or at least so I think) causes this. I don't know it until I notice that the battery is dangereously low. Don't have any apps that may cause this that I know of.
Used to have a similiar situation with the Original Droid where it would reset to 30 seconds.
Does this happen to anyone else and if so how did you get around it? Or is it yet another bug in the operating system? Happened pre-GB also. Doesn't seem to be more or less frequent with GB.
I know this is a Droid X issue as well. Whenever I un-mount my Droid 3 from my Mac Powerbook G4 all preset ringtones & notifications are reset to random ringtones/songs/notifications. I have to manually reset all my ringtones and notifications back to the sounds I want. It seems when the SD-cards are mounted in Mass Storage Mode, the info on the SD-cards is no longer available to the phone so it reassigns the ringtones and notifications. Once the SD-cards are re-mounted on phone the pre-set ringtones and notifications are no longer set. Unless there is a fix, I am looking to maybe root the phone and copy all my ringtones and notification tones to the system's media folder so they are permanently available to the phone.

This only seems to be an issue for the "non blur" launcher. I have never encountered this using a third party launcher.

Next I initiated an MP4 movie (using the latest Quicktime); the movie plays fine but with no sound. I stop the movie go back to the sound setting and it has reset itself to zero. The same result with an MP3 music file. Is this a software compatibility issue?

The one I updated to 5.7.906 will now stop showing blue bars of wifi strength at the top of the screen after some time ( happens during inactivity but also during downloads ). The ones not updated ( 5.6.890 ) still continue to work flawlessly on wifi.In settings the updated phone still shows as connected to our network with bars of signal strength even though no bars highlighted are at the top of the screen.If I stop wifi on the phone and restart it it connects properly and gets the blue bars back at the top of screen and I can access the network. After some time though the blue bars will disapear and the phone will not be able to access the network ( even though in settings it will still show as connected with signal strength)I have checked battery saver options, gone through the process of forgetting settings on the phone and rebooting the router, removed all security from the router and done a factory reset of the phone ( which did not revert back to the old system version ). As the unupdated phones still work properly I am happy that the issues lies with the new update and as it still occurrs after a factory reset it suggests that the issue is not caused by a 3rd party app resident on the phone.Is there anyway I can undo the update on this phone so it will work properly again? Or is there any other way to get wifi working consistently again?

Problem being, I thought the pedometer was supposed to take over at that point so that the pace and distance don't get all screwed up. That didn't seem to happen here. I was running an approximately 9 minute pace the whole time, but had it dip down to 17 mins and it would not come back up... I could see this happening for a few seconds, but for minutes at a time? I will attach CSV files for your review.ow could this possibly happen at this point? This is such basic stuff for this watch to be able to do, why cant it hack it? With a pedometer and GPS it should NEVER be this far off. So disappointing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had the phone since Monday and have not had a pleasant experience in terms of signal. I manage a little over 300 lines for my company so I know what our signal is and isn't in places. All of our phones typically get great 4G signal and 3G signal around here and especially inside the building. Since I've had the Bionic though it's been really flaky as a lot of others have mentioned. 4G just seems to drop a lot. I've done a lot of speed tests (both on the phone and also tethered to a laptop) and the biggest inconsistency is the upload speed. I am getting 0.05mbps on my upload, but closer to 5-6 on download. The phone itself has been fine, all apps work, speeds are good when browsing actually works and the network doesn't drop. I called Verizon today and he had me check the box for data roaming which was not on by default. So far the signal has been pretty solid where it doesn't drop but it didn't make any changes to my speeds.
I have a Thunderbolt here that gets 20 megabit plus on both uploads and downloads so I know speeds in this area are fine. The Verizon tech pointed me to an update in November that *should* address something with 4G but he wasn't clear on what exactly that was. One other issue I've been having is Wifi. It takes a long time to detect that I am close to my access point. Are others seeing the same issues with uploads that I am or do I possibly had a device with a bad radio?
My battery lasts good most of the day but when it gets to 50% it will drop to 20% in about 2 minutes. Do I have a bad battery or is it just out of calibration. It has did this twice in the last week. I have not run it til it shuts off so I don't know how long it would last from 20% to being out of juice.
