Motorola Droid 3 :: Lose Signal, Then Switch Back To The Network Extender?
Aug 11, 2011
The first indication of something wrong was the issue where my Droid 3 began connecting to my network extender only with 1x. But, the problem was worse than that, because it would then connect to a distant, weak tower for 3G. It would lose signal, then switch back to the network extender, where it would lose 3G once again and fall back to 1x. (How do I know it was swapping to a distant tower?the network extender team diagnosed it while I was on a phone call with them and told me they were seeing it do it live on their screens).
They "did something" (I don't know know what that something was), and it seemed to clear up for a while. Then, it came back. Another call to their network extender group, and they "upped the power" of the extender and the problem went away... for two weeks.Today, it started again. Only this time, it was doing the same behavior between two *actual* cell towers at work! The network extender wasn't in the mix, this time.My original Droid, Droid 2 Global, my son's Droid X and my wife's iPhone 4 all have NO problem with the extender (nor any other aspect of the service). This Droid 3 has failed in this manner three times, now. What's up, Moto? Can anything else fail with this phone? Camera blows, keys repeat, social networking is flaky, and apparently it has issues maintaining 3G in some situations. What a miserable experience.
Every so often I get a notification in a computer voice that says "Network Extender" - has anyone else had this, what does it mean and how do I shut it off?
So in my home I have an network extender set up to boost my WiFi on the side of my house where it is a little weaker. Speed tests show blasting upload/download speeds (50+ Down and 20+ Up) but I notice issues with notifications not coming over in real time or images within Instagram or Facebook taking forever to load. With the notification issue all of a sudden I will get a ton that flood in that are sometimes hours past when they were initially pushed. If I am connected to my main SSID (off the extender) things seem to come over fine. I checked the settings within the extender, but cannot seem to find anything that would either work or hinder things.
What do these Icons represent or mean, and the meaning when they change Colors from White to Blue (Status Icons). There was a GB 2.3.4 User Manual Posted on Moto's site, Unfortunately no information was included about these Items. What does it mean when all three are blue, Including the H+ icon having arrows beneath it at the same time? Is it also Possible to have the Intro Video Posted or embedded to this thread as well please.
I've had this twice now where I couldn't get a GPS signal. This never happened on my Droid 1, but has happened twice in less than 30 days (two different phones - since I replaced the first one when this happened). This has been in 2 completely different locations.
I notice that if I put a little bit of pressure on my iPhone 4S switch, I can move it a bit which shows the 'orange' strip but the phone wont actually go into vibrate mode.
Since I updated my iOS from 5.0.1 to 5.1, my iPhone:
1) Takes a lot more time finding the network when I turn it on.
2) Frequently loses reception and searches for network for 10-30 seconds before going back on the network full strength. The weird thing is that when this happens, I'm usually at the same place, so it does not make sense that I go from five bars of signal to nothing.
3) Also, when I lose signal, there is a prompt telling me that I lost signal. This prompt is annoying, is there a way to make it not appear?
Get great battery life on wifi and horrible on 3g. Lose 1percent battery every 1-2 min. Have 82dBm which is good. What might be the issue.Have heard so many different opinions.
When Bluetooth is turned on, my data connection will disappear (i.e. the 3G or 4G icon on my screen will go away) sometime between 30 min to 2 hours after turning phone on (different length each time). I can still make calls, but the data connection is gone until I restart the phone.WiFi will still be able to connect. If bluetooth is not turned on, the data connection is fine, both 3G and 4G and wifi.
I have a 3way car adapter that should let me hear music, telephone calls and gps voice through my car radio and charge the phone. It works for music and gps but not for the phone as the cell signal drops off as soon as the assessory powers up. it has a built intransmitter 88 to 107 freq.my phone is an iphone 4.
after updating to ios 5.1.1 i constantly lose the signal on my phone. as well as not being able to browse on the 3g signal for more than ten minutes before it locks up and has to be rebooted..... anyone else finding issues with signal and 3G connectivity??
Every time I reboot my phone I lose notification sound for the first incoming text message. After the first it returns as normal. It always vibrates normally. Any ideas? I checked sound settings and they are all maxed out after a reboot, but still no sound until the second text message.
I live in a poor reception area on the Rogers network. I've noticed that when I go into the basement the phone drops a signal pretty quickly. I am okay with this and is expected. My issue is when I get back on to the main floor, the phone does not pick up a signal again for a long time. Sometimes even toggling airplane mode doesn't work. My wife's iPhone does the same thing.
If Wifi drops or I turn it off, the remaining icons go white, and then if you go to settings, about phone, status, the phone states UMTS and then switches to HSPA, and it states on network "Connecting, or Disconnected" A power Cycle will sometimes help. If I turn wifi back on, I have a Blue wifi, white H+, and a Blue Network Signal strength.
I've got an Iphone 3G updated to 4.0.1 and I did jailbreak it and unlock the network, but now when I open the Itunes I found a mandatory update for the carrier setting. My question is if i update it will I lose the jailbreak and the network will lock again?
I noticed when I update my profile on my n5 I will lose network data until I switch network data off and back on. It only happens after I update the profile the prl is fine.
I have noticed that I cannot switch calls if someone "clicks in." (Is that what it's called anymore?) When I hear the tone that someone is calling I look at the phone and there is a box for "switch calls." But it's grayed out and pushing it does nothing. Anyone else having this issue? Really wish this update would hurry it's butt up so I can see if stuff like this and especially the spacebar keyboard issue is just cause I got a bad phone.
In the last month or so I have noticed less bars of 4G when I am at my office.I know Verizon has been tinkering with their network. So what would be a good dBm signal strength within a fairly close proximity to one of their towers?
Phone was sitting on my desk plugged in to power cord with 4G turned off.I have a very strong 3G signal at my office, I can see the tower out my window. The phone dropped the data connection and it took about 5 minutes for the 3G data connection to come back.I was getting used to this happening with 4G but now 3G too?
Has anyone notice that 4g has a weak signal sometimes. When I'm on 4g my dbm will be -42 to -89 and it will only show 2 or3 bars of signal and if I switch to 3g it stays full bars it wont drop a bar with the same dbm. Like right now I have -75dbm of 4g and it fluctuates from 2 bars to full signal but it wont stay full long but if I switch to 3g with the same dbm sitting in the same spot it shows full 3g all the time and don't drop a bar. Is 4g just a weaker signal than 3g. I believe I'm on the same tower cause the dbm stays the same. It does this everywhere.
While using the DROID Razr Maxx at home, wifi is turned on and works great. When wifi is turned off or is unavailable after leaving the house, the phone will not automatically switch to 4G LTE data. To switch to 4G, the phone has to be rebooted. Mobile networks is set to CDMA/LTE. Enable data access over Mobile network is set to ON. Enable background data is set to ON. Data Saver is NOT enabled. Is the phone supposed to automatically switch between wifi and mobile data? If so, how can I make it work.
I was using the navigation on the maxx last night but the screen stayed in "day mode" so the screen was very bright and distracting. How can I switch it to make it go darker at night so there isn't as much glare. My old Incredible did this without any input from me.I have the Navigation dock and was using that I also had the screen settings set for auto detect day or night.
I got a RAZR a couple of weeks ago for my wife, and I made a mistake setting it up. I setup the email app instead of the gmail app. Now all the emails are going only to the phone, so unless the laptop is left on all the time (we use google apps sync to outlook), it never gets any emails.
How do I get these emails back to gmail? Can I mass forward these emails back out somehow? I can forward one at a time, and I can save to the sd messaging folder one at a time.
When I got my phone and set it up at Verizon, they had to enter a gmail account to get the phone to work. I gave them a gmail account, but did not realize that my wife was using this account for her Droid phone, so now I have all of her contacts. How do I switch to another gmail account. When I try to delete this account, it says that I have to reset the phone to factory defaults and I don't want to lose Touchdown which I have already paid for.
By changing the Singal strength indicator from stock android: When connected to Google services: Bright green for signal, grey for not to When connected to Google services:
Somewhat brighter blue for signal, Somehwat darker blue for no signal
it is impossible to tell if I have a zero bar signal or full bar signal (all in between are kind of visible)....
Ironically the indicator for not connected to Google services is very easy to read - but in most cases only lasts a few seconds...
Suggestion for the next patch: Turn up the level of blue for signal and go to grey for no signal to make the indicator visible.
almost since day one, i have not really had the pleasure of enjoying what 4g signal is really like. i'm in chicago, and when ever i'm either downloading music or streaming video (netflix, Internet) or downloading anything that requires data, the phone completely loses the 4g connection and takes at times up to 5 minutes for the signal to come back. if i keep the phone on 3g only it does not happen, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a 4g device. the "data saver" in settings is off.
