Samsung :: Caliber RCH 860 Message Manager Not Working
Aug 2, 2010
I have an RCH-860 Samsung caliber. In PC Studio, The one app that I really need to work (Message Manager) does not work.Does anyone know a way to get the Message manager to work in PC Studio for the Caliber or is there another way to easily download text Messages from this phone to a text file or to a PC?
Less than a week ago I bought a Samsung Caliber. seemed nice enough.
Yesterday I start trying to use it to forward certain emails I receive on my home desktop computer (Thunderbird) to the Caliber phone.
I would say 95% never make it and a few bounce back out of those so I never get a clue as to what happened. On occasion, one gets through..I have no clue why as its the SAME test email every time. Sometimes the phone will go into downloading message mode eternally (until I remove the battery and re insert it). The files forwarded are small text files.
I have contacted MetroPCS and they were not very much help at all. They are supposedly "opening a support ticket" but I don't know what if any good that will do.
At this point I gather the phone or network behind it is still in development mode. I would strongly advice anyone contemplating this phone to hold off for a while. Seems there are bugs since it is so new.
Someone (maybe from metroPCS or Samsung) may come on and post a rebuttal, but you'll just have to decide for yourself. I am quite frustrated.
The phone seems to do ok on most other things, but messaging is very important to me and it simply fails on this phone so far.
Heres the error message I get like 95% of the time.....

I have a feeling my wife is messing around on me..Is there a way to track text messages remotely from my Caliber or computer? Ive seen software for smartphones, but this isnt a smartphone..
I just bought a Samsung Caliber through MetroPCS and I want to play a java based game on it. I think I need to install J2ME first because I get a "bad mime type - file not supported" message when I try to download and play it. Anyone know how to install J2ME on this phone?
I would like to know if there is a way to hook my caliber up to my laptop and get the internet. I have internet on my phone, but no internet in my home. Is it possible to get it through my phone? Is there a special cord? I have seen people doing this, just taking a cord and attaching the phone to the laptop.
Looking for any good hacks/tricks for this phone. In particular I would like to be able to rearrange the icons on the menus and have all the ones I want listed first or hide ones I done want.
I just bought this phone a few days ago. I am very excited and start playing with the camera. after a few shots and a few mode change, the phone freeze and restart. then i open the camera app again it shows only black screen and a camera failed message
i tried using other camera app but it's no use. the phone has no warranty in my country so i could not have a replacement.
been to the samsung service center also but still no luck.
When I use the back button to exit from messaging and check in task manager messaging always shows as still active and I can only exit it from task manager. This also happens if I exit messaging via the home key.Would any one know please if this is usual and if so is there a way of exiting messaging so that it does not remain active in the task manager, or is this a fault?
When I am trying to add/remove applications using Desktop Manager, I get the error message:Validation failed because a module marked for update (net_rim_bb_qm_api) is not available on local disk. How do I fix this? I am running a 9650 and have Desktop Manager for Mac.
I have 'networked' my SGS2 to my Windows XP PC using 'ASTRO file manager' and the 'ASTRO SMB module' (both downloaded free on Market and obviously you need to be rooted too). With it I can access the Shared Folder on my desktop PC and just drag and drop files over. (Obviously you can just use Kies Air or plug in the USB cable, but I was bored so I Googled and fiddled).
This link shows a screenshot where to find the 'Network' icon on 'ASTRO file manager'.[URL]
This link (posts #28 and #29 in the thread) show the basic settings in ASTRO SMB...[URL]
I've notice that I'm not able to write/paste on Super Manager or Astro now that I'm using ICS version LPS. I have rooted using Chainfires LPS kernel. is this something that will come with later versions of ICS or updates to the apps themselves?
I usually close all the active apps from the Task manager to save the battery of my s2, after doing that i checked the RAM and clear it but there's a message that says for example 8 application were closed, so where this apps came from???
Today while playing around with my 5233, i found that now when i try to open app. mgr. on my phone to uninstall my installed apps, its not working anymore. its was working till yesterday. Now whenerer it try to go to app. manager, either my phone restarts automatically or nothing happens at all.
My "Installed Applications" routine found in the Application Manager stopped working. When I try to run this routine it goes back to the original screen after a few settings. It was working before.Could be I deleted the routine? If this is the case, can I download this piece of useful software?
My Desktop Manager and Torch were working beautifully together until a week or two ago. Now it will connect and says it's synching, but nothing gets transfered. When I try to close out the Desktop Manager, it shows that it is disconnecting, then just hangs there, and I have to use CTRL ALT DEL to close the program. I NEED the data on my BB and I am worried that it hasn't updated or synched properly in over a week.
I have my preferred connections setup with my home WLAN as priority, then my cell phone provider (ATT) as the last priority. The connection manager switches from my WLAN to ATT everytime I go out of range of my WLAN fully automatically. So that part is working as designed. The problem is when I get back to my home WLAN the connection manager doesn't automatically drop the EDGE or 3G connection and connect to my WLAN.
To make things worse, even if I kill the EDGE or 3G connection manually, it may or may not pick up my WLAN and start using it. Then, if I can get the WLAN to connect, the connection manager will insist on connecting to the EDGE/3G connection and disconnecting the WLAN. This is crazy behavior. I've been pretty happy with the phone's stability over my old N78, but I hope to Zeus that a Firmware upgrade will be release that fixes this bug. It drives me nuts........................
I'm a smart phone user for a whole month now, so you may need to type slowly because I'm still pretty ignorant.'m trying to figure out the best way to get music onto my Atrix. The music right now would mostly come from CDs. I can never seem to make Windows Media Player do what I want it to do, and so syncing from that has not been much fun, although it has partially been successful.I just discovered Moto Phone Portal (MPP), and so I thought I might use that to transfer music by just moving files by WiFi, but I cannot get the File Manager in MPP to work. All other parts of the software appear to work just fine. When I click on the File Manager tab, and then choose either "Internal" or "External", nothing happens after that. I prefer the WiFi to USB since I'm too lazy to drag out the USB cable. This is on a Windows Vista computer, using either Firefox 4 or Internet Explorer 9 (same result either way).
Carrier: Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330 Recently I upgraded my Desktop Manager to Version 6.0.0.40 and now I can't transfer media files to my Curve 8330.One thing I tried was to update my device OS to 4.5.0.175, this did not work. The DM shows that Media Options are not available, that I have to trun on mass storage mode from the device.Under the options menu on my 8330, I open Media Card and sure enough Media Card Support is On, Mass Storage Support is On, and Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode is On (I've tried when I switch to Prompt, but that did not work either).I've removed the media card, reinserted it, reformatted it, made sure it was recognized by my device (it is), so obviously the problem is with the Desktop Manager. With previous versions, I had no problems with Media Sync, only with the new DM version. The DM will recognize my device when plugged in via USB and I can sync my Organizer with no issues. What else can I try to get my DM - Media Sync to work with my 8330?
I just bought a blackberry 9700 yesterday and i am having trouble with the device manager. After installation, i plug the blackberry using the usb into my laptop (windows 7) and it says Device Manager has stopped working and wants me to close the program. I have uninstalled it and re-downloaded it again and again but the same error keeps happening. I don't know what to do!

In an effort to "squeeze" as much life out of my battery as possible I decided to take a Moto Rep's video/recommendation and use the stock Task Manager to turn off selected apps 2 minutes after screen off. This strategy worked pretty good on my Pro, but it doesn't do so well on the Razr. After monitoring the stock Task Manager now for a week, it appears that it does not turn off selected apps after 2 minutes of screen off. We all realize the battery demand on the Razr and there is a lot of experimentation going on (that is a good thing) to develop settings (Smart Actions etc) that prolong time between charges. It would be nice if we could have an effective Task Manager (stock and Moto approved) that would be another "tool in the tool box".
I recently readded the newest version of Desktop Manager and am using the Blackberry Curve 3G. I have Windows Vista operating system and every time I try to use Intellisync to sync my Yahoo Address book with the device the program stops working. What am I doing wrong? I've tried to uninstall Desktop Manager and reinstall and it keeps happening.
I've been using my Bionic for about 24 hrs now (pretty heavy useage) and only 3 items show up in the "Battery and Data Manager":
Southwest Airlines App (96%)
Cell Standby (2%)
Phone Idle (2%)
That's it. I've used about 30 different apps and I've had WiFi on and off, I've been on LTE and switched to CDMA only for a bit. I've tried out the GPS, used Google Talk, the browser and a bunch of other stuff that I know takes up battery life and I want to know what is killing the battery? Is there a fix for the Battery and Data Manager or somewhere else on the phone I can look for this info?
I just noticed in my 3gs that once I am in the message thread and the same person replies to my message, the default message tone saved in my setings is not played, instead, it is only like a "balloon sound" / "bubble sound"
I am new to the community and would appreciate any assistance. I have two recent problems for which I am seeking troubleshooting advice. The priority problem is mentioned first below.I've just encountered this error message, "For help resolving this issue, refer to KB19454 in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Knowledge Base" when attempting to sync my Curve 8320. I use a Mac, and I haven't run into any difficulties syncing since downloading the newer version of the Desktop Manager for Mac in Dec/Jan. I haven't been able to download the latest update though. I did see an early post by someone with the same difficulty, but I was unclear of the question posed, and thus I am hopeful for potential suggestions for resolution. The additional problem I've recently experienced is that I can't compose an SMS/MMS message. I can only reply to someone's message. When I try to simply send one, the screen defaults back to the list of messages. Please Note: I do not have wireless on my phone. I utilize Blackberry Desktop Manager Version 1.0.1 .Please also note that I am not able to access electronic messages daily but will attempt to return any responses/inquires as quickly as possible.
I installed Companion Link because I had problems syncing with Outlook 2010 64x. Companion Link sync works okay, but each time I start the Desktop Manager I get that annoying message. Desktop Manager somhow thinks that it still has to do something with Outlook. Either there is no default mail client or!
