Nokia :: Phone Dead After Software Update / Phone Got Disconnected
Apr 21, 2010My phone told me i had to update it to new software.So I connected it to my computer (running win7).I started the nokia phone update software, which correctly identified my phone etc. It told me it was normal it could say the phone got disconnected.After a few minutes, it told me my phone was disconnected and I had to unplug it, unplug battery, put everything back in and press power for 1 second to resume updating. That doesn't workHard resetting with shift + space + backspace also doesn't work. The phone vibrates for a second and does nothing. I do see a little red light inside the navi-pad.

Mar 8, 2010Hi Since upgrading to the V21 firmware on my N97, if the phone powers off for any reason, my RSS feeds default to not automatically updating. I have to go to each feed and reset the update schedule each time I run out of battery or change to my backup battery. Im using the built in RSS reader that you configure through the "Web" browser application. I am using this to display 3 feeds as widgets on the home screen. has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions.

Apr 1, 2010I have a few questions about how to update maps and voice guidance data on my phone. I have US maps installed on my phone. Let's say they come out with an updated version of the US maps. How will Maps Loader (s/w installed on my PC) know of the update? Does the Maps Loader software on my computer automatically check for updates? I don't see any option for this. Ok, let's say somehow I get the updated maps on my computer. I understand that I need to use Maps Loader application on my PC to load the latest map data on my phone.
When I try to do that, why doesn't Maps Loader application show that I have a version installed already? When I open the Maps Loader app, it just shows what you decide to add on in the 'Selection' pane. Is there no good way of knowing what version of the country map you are loading or the version that is installed? Also, is there a way to specify a name of a contact in your contact book instead of having to type out the whole address for the contact? I have tried typing the name of the contact, but it doesn't like it.

Feb 23, 2010Orange replaced my 5800 Music phone because it developed a fault. I stuck in the MicroSD card from my old phone which had all my music on it but the new phone won't play any tracks because the license is wrong.Do I need to redownload to my PC all the music I already have?Or can I delete all the tracks from my new 5800 and just copy from my PC to it and it will recognise the old tracks I downloaded for my old 5800? I can't just try it out because I'm away from home right now, I just want to know what I will need to do when I get back at the weekend.I really don't want to download all my music againg from Nokia because that site is so painful it's like sticking needles in your eyes.

Jul 24, 2010Got the phone in trade, so no warranty...Phone works perfectly fine before any of this happens. Basically got the nokia software, updated ect. Go to update the firmware and do what the instructions says. It downloads the firmware and starts to install...halfway through says cable disconnected. Clearly it is not, but i do what the instructions says to reconnect it. It tells me to disconnect, take out batter, reinsert usb then battery and then hit retry. Works, but same problem, halfway thought it "disconnects". After trying this about 5 times i give up. I hit cancel. Now the phone is dead, nothing, can't hard reset, can't turn on. NOTHING.Currently have the phone without battery as someone online (googled) had similar situation and he left the phone for 6hours and it magically worked again...i don't think it will work but i have to try...

Despite the update, Ovi maps just crashes the phone when I try to use it. The screen goes blank and I get all coloured lines flashing down one side and the phone reluctantly restarts.

After the update, the phone will not send/receive phone calls/text messages after it has been sitting in locked mode (the screen displays the default clock) after about 30 minutes. Once I have restarted the phone it works properly until it returns to the locked mode. I have performed a factory reset on the device with out any luck.

Now my Nokia phone working slowly whenever I play the music and headset sound increasing if I attend the call through headset and hearing music simultaneously. What's the problem? The Nokia headset sound is too low when attending calls through headset? I can't hear voice while driving. My headset warranty period also finished. Is this headset problem or Nokia problem?
