Am working in China where I bought a N97 last year. When pulling the phone out of the wallet (supplied by Nokia) last week the slide lock split and fell off. When my secretary took it to the Care Centre to get it fixed (her Chinese is better than mine) they charged RMB200 (about 20 pounds) to repair it. Is this normal? They said that even though the lock was probably faulty I could not prove it.When I called Nokia Care all they could say was 'this is our policy in China'. I like the phone but cannot stand the Nokia customer service these days.

I've mentioned this on another thread, but I thought I'd start a new one to see if anyone can help me with this specific problem. Briefly, the familiar tale. Phone well cared for and never dropped, keyguard slide broke off after six months, Carphone Warehouse said it was a 'cosmetic' fault and therefore not covered under the warranty and wanted £85 to repair it. nUnlock application downloaded, which resolves most issues other than answering calls. Many of us have been there. The big niggle that remains (other than the prospect of having to give in and fork out for a repair I shouldn't have to pay for) is answering calls. This is the current scenario: Phone rings. I can't answer it in the normal way due to the keyguard switch no longer being there. So I have to flip it open, at which point the screen goes blank for a couple of seconds before it comes back on in the 'sideways' configuration. In most cases, by the time the screen has come back on and I've hit the Answer key, it's gone to voicemail. It's fiddly and annoying. So. Have I missed something in the nUnlock app that disables the keyguard switch function altogether so I can answer calls properly? Is there something in the Phone Settings that I've missed that does the same thing? Or am I just going to have to go to a Nokia shop and be prepared to argue and/or fork out some cash?
My phone model is Nokia 2680s.I want to learn if there is a way to lock and unlock the keypad merely with the slide operation. for unlocking the keypad it is not a problem. The feature already exists. However for locking the phone I could not find a way. Evenif I slide off the phone, the phone keypad is still active.
Before I was using samsung and this feature is default in samsung models and is very efficient. You just receive a call, slide open your phone or you browse the menus and when you slide off the phone, the phones keypad is locked! that's it.is there a way to apply such a feature for Nokia 2680s as well?
Have just updated my 808 purview to FP2 how do you get slide lock screen to work. And I also fort we was getting back old style video editor like in n8 where you can join 2 clips together where is it.
On my 6760 slide, i tried to type my lock code which i was sure i knew but it didnt work. my lock code had an exclaimation mark in it but when i try to type the exclaimation mark, it doesn't register on the code screen. the button does work though as i tested it in the notes application.
Three days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.
I have had my X6 for just under 6 months and the keypad lock button has snapped off. I have a protective cover on the phone and screen cover and have to admit that when I got the phone, I though it was a bad design and would eventually happen. How do I get it repaired?
Yesterday when i was doing text chat suddenly my side keypad lock stopped responding, am not able to lock or unlock using that key. If i push it down its staying down only and if i push it up its staying up not able to even turn on the flash light on with long downward push.
know if the slide lock can be deactivated. Or if you can at least answer a call without using the slide lock. It would be nice if you could just press a button to answeran incoming call, especially when you are driving.
I use a pattern lock and the security lock timeout is set for 30 minutes. I have the screen timeout set to 30 seconds. I have disabled the power button to immediately lock the phone. Every time I open my phone I still have to take the extra step to slide to unlock even though the phone is technically not locked. This is just an extra annoying step. Is there any way to skip the slide to unlock step?
I'm having trouble with my lock screen, when I go to unlock it I have to slide it numerous times to unlock it.I don't know if it is a problem with the screen or a software issue.
I don't have security set for the lock and it is a nuisance. It serves no purpose whatsoever. I have gone through everything on the phone trying to find a defeat for it but can't find one. Can it be removed?
When my RAZR is locked, on the new Slide Lock Screen I can still pull down my notification curtain to see my notifications. I can then unlock my phone by selecting a Notification. As you can see in the picture I am able pull down the Notification Curtain while my phone is locked.
I put my phone in recovery mode because I wanted to try to free up space. It seems that Activation Lock is now broken?????????/ How? It does not prompt me to enter a previous persons apple id and password to activate. It just automatically activates itself. I have Find My Iphone turned on and signed in with my apple id but each time i "erase content and settings" it does not prompt me for my apple id and password to activate. What did I do?
why my phones slide unlock thing aint there anymore.when i have my phone in my pocket its not locked and i end up doing things without realising it.usually you push the button then slide the bar across to unlock it. im confused. also this phone is trippy as **** ie: restarting on its own, freezing and crashing etc.
I lost my slide lock capabilities with with I am guessing a bad app. I still can't get it to work and have come to the conclusion that I need to do a Factory Data Reset. My question is what happens when I do this? Do I lose contacts...pics and music? Sounds bad but I miss the slide lock feature...
The upgrade to Gingerbread has been seamless aside from one issue that has recently popped up. I prefer that the only screen lock on my phone is the slider, but suddenly this option has gone away. When I hit the lock button, I expect that my phone's screen will go off and in order to turn it back on, I need to hit the lock button again and slide to unlock it. I do not want to enter a pattern, a pin, or a password. In order to get the slide lock to consistently show up after hitting the lock button, I need to add a pattern, pin or password. The slide lock will show up, but I also have to enter the pattern, pin or password after unlocking with the slide lock if the security lock timer setting has elapsed.
The on-off switch/ lock button of iPhone 4s has become inactive over the past week. Whenever I press down on it, there is no satisfying click, it is simply idol. It wobbles loosely but however hard I do click on it it will not move! I only got it for Christmas 2011 so its not even old, and within the 6 months of my possesion it has not once been dropped or misused!
I just switched from a Motorola Droid to a Droid X2. However, the lock screen is giving me issues. If I turn on pattern lock, it still leaves the slide lock activated. On the old Droid, it turned OFF the scroll lock when pattern lock was activated. How can I disable the scroll lock while pattern lock is activated? It's rather annoying having two lock screens...
After my last thread which pointed out I was just simply lookin in the wrong place I bet there is a pretty easy solution for this too, I just can't seem to find it.Currently when unlocking my phone, I have to do the slide to unlock, and then input my pattern to unlock. I want my phone so that when I only have to do the pattern. The security options on the phone allow for "None", "Pattern", "Password", and "Pin". It says nothing of the slide to unlock feature and I can not figure out how to turn the thing off.
Doesnt show anything but siri works, and makes noise. There has been a similar thread and the solution was to restart the phone by holding down the lock and home button at the same time but my lock button doesnt work !!
Last night my iPhone 4 was updating for iOS 7.1.2 and it was working perfectly fine until it froze 3/4 of the way.
It has been stuck on the Apple logo and progress bar for over 13 hours, I tried draining out the battery hoping it would turn off then restart but even when it was on 0% it would not turn off. I also cant do the hard reboot with the home and sleep/wake/lock button due to my lock button being broken (it has been broken for awhile now) I can't get it fixed at the moment but I really want to be able to use my phone, I also don't want to restore my phone because im scared im going to lose everything on it.Â
My iphone stock on recovery mode and i have broken lock buttun.i tried all the program that takes you out of recovery mode but nothing helped..the only way that i can get my iphone back is to put it in dfu mode but as i said i don't have lock button so i can't. how can i put my iphone on dfu without lock button?
After the update to 2.2 I can no longer disable the screen lock "slider". Has any been able to get it to work like it did in previous versions? I do not want to have to use the slider everytime the phone sleeps.
I dropped it and it turned off. When the lock button worked I could just press the home and lock button down and the apple icon would appear. What do I do now? I already tried plugging it into my computer.Â
My iPhone 4s has been non-functional for 5 hours now... It is stalled during the new software update at about 20% complete . I cannot do the typical hard reboot due to a broken lock button. I have tried plugging it into a power source with no luck. I have no way of turning it on/off and cannot currently use it.
I recently got a Satio and I'm loving the phone. However, since I lock and unlock the phone so much using the side button Does anyone know if I can get that button replaced?
After upgrading my Xperia Pro to ICS, my right to left slide on the unlock screen has been changed from Slide to Silent Mode to Slide to Camera. How can I revert this?
