My iPhone 4s has been non-functional for 5 hours now... It is stalled during the new software update at about 20% complete . I cannot do the typical hard reboot due to a broken lock button. I have tried plugging it into a power source with no luck. I have no way of turning it on/off and cannot currently use it.

The on-off switch/ lock button of iPhone 4s has become inactive over the past week. Whenever I press down on it, there is no satisfying click, it is simply idol. It wobbles loosely but however hard I do click on it it will not move! I only got it for Christmas 2011 so its not even old, and within the 6 months of my possesion it has not once been dropped or misused!

Doesnt show anything but siri works, and makes noise. There has been a similar thread and the solution was to restart the phone by holding down the lock and home button at the same time but my lock button doesnt work !!

Last night my iPhone 4 was updating for iOS 7.1.2 and it was working perfectly fine until it froze 3/4 of the way.
It has been stuck on the Apple logo and progress bar for over 13 hours, I tried draining out the battery hoping it would turn off then restart but even when it was on 0% it would not turn off. I also cant do the hard reboot with the home and sleep/wake/lock button due to my lock button being broken (it has been broken for awhile now) I can't get it fixed at the moment but I really want to be able to use my phone, I also don't want to restore my phone because im scared im going to lose everything on it.Â
So recently my iPhone 4 lock button is getting really hard to use. It's not stuck but i have to use all my force to press it. I want to go to the apple store but I already have had my phone replaced once for free under the 1 year warranty. What will the apple store do? Will I be charged?

i bought my iphone 4 in june 2011. n currently my country of residence(india) is not the country of purchase(ksa) n plus i've lost my warranty card. reciepts are not with me coz it was a gift to me. Not sure if It was dropped and something happened but I remember being able to tap the top of the phone with ease, just like the mute button on the right side, now there is a very noticeable difference.Anybody having this issue? View 3 Replies View Relatedmy storm fell out of my holster a week ago and scratched it around where the lock button and mute button are and the lock button is hard to press down to get it to lock i used to be able to hold it in one hand and lock it with just my finger. now i have to use my other hand and press real hard on it to get it to lock and sometimes it takes a few seconds to unlock and then sometimes it will unlock and then re lock right away and vise versa. im gonna get a new cover for the scratched area but has anyone fixed this before.

Is there an application or way to lock an Iphone to edge and then switch to 3g as needed? On my Windows Mobile phones I can run an application called Bandswitch which lets me select whether I want a 2g or 3g connection. Just noticed in the last two-three days that an app automatically loads when rebooted called Startup2. I see it when I press and hold the menu button along with the normal icons for web, email, phone, home etc. If I select the Startup2 icon then the BB hangs/freezes. It does not open any new screen. My only way of regaining control is to press and hold the menu button again. where it came from and how I can get rid of it?
