The on-off switch/ lock button of iPhone 4s has become inactive over the past week. Whenever I press down on it, there is no satisfying click, it is simply idol. It wobbles loosely but however hard I do click on it it will not move! I only got it for Christmas 2011 so its not even old, and within the 6 months of my possesion it has not once been dropped or misused!

Doesnt show anything but siri works, and makes noise. There has been a similar thread and the solution was to restart the phone by holding down the lock and home button at the same time but my lock button doesnt work !!

Last night my iPhone 4 was updating for iOS 7.1.2 and it was working perfectly fine until it froze 3/4 of the way.
It has been stuck on the Apple logo and progress bar for over 13 hours, I tried draining out the battery hoping it would turn off then restart but even when it was on 0% it would not turn off. I also cant do the hard reboot with the home and sleep/wake/lock button due to my lock button being broken (it has been broken for awhile now) I can't get it fixed at the moment but I really want to be able to use my phone, I also don't want to restore my phone because im scared im going to lose everything on it.Â

I dropped it and it turned off. When the lock button worked I could just press the home and lock button down and the apple icon would appear. What do I do now? I already tried plugging it into my computer.Â

My iPhone 4s has been non-functional for 5 hours now... It is stalled during the new software update at about 20% complete . I cannot do the typical hard reboot due to a broken lock button. I have tried plugging it into a power source with no luck. I have no way of turning it on/off and cannot currently use it.

Yesterday, 9-2-14, my iPhone 4 unexpectedly powered off when it still had 50% charge. The lock/power button has already been broken for about 5 or 6 months and the screen is cracked. It was working for months even after these things had been wrong with it. I don't know how to turn it back on.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAm working in China where I bought a N97 last year. When pulling the phone out of the wallet (supplied by Nokia) last week the slide lock split and fell off. When my secretary took it to the Care Centre to get it fixed (her Chinese is better than mine) they charged RMB200 (about 20 pounds) to repair it. Is this normal? They said that even though the lock was probably faulty I could not prove it.When I called Nokia Care all they could say was 'this is our policy in China'. I like the phone but cannot stand the Nokia customer service these days.

View 5 Replies View Relatedthere is a soft button or a way around to take video without the camera button. I figure I can still take picture by pressing the screen. However, in camcorder mode, pressing screen doesn't do anything at all. I know I can return to MS store, but there must be a way to take video without the physical button, right?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThree days ago the side lock key on my eight-month-old 701 broke in the course of normal use - I didn't drop it or anything like that - I was just trying to lock the screen in the normal way. There is plainly a mechanical fault as the slide doesn't spring back when you move it.
I took it into Nokia Care here in Taipei and, to my surprise, they told me a) that it can only be fixed by replacing the phone's motherboard and b) that I would have to call Nokia to see whether they were willing to cover it under the guarantee. (It seems that the few remaining Nokia care centres in Taiwan are contracted out and given little or no discretion.) Interestingly they showed me another 701 motherboard with the slide broken in the same way.
Yesterday, Nokia Taiwan called back saying that the limited guarantee specifically excludes damage to the exterior of the phone and that if I wanted it repaired I would have to pay for it.
I have now checked the terms of the guarantee (available in Chinese on Nokia Taiwan's web site) and this simply isn't true. There are exclusions for improper use or modification, acts of god, normal wear and tear, replacement of consumables (fuses are specifically mentioned) and damage to or breakage of aerials, but nothing about damage to switches or anything else of on the exterior of the phone.
Regardless of the details of the guarantee exclusions, I am appalled at Nokia Taiwan's attitude, and would be very grateful if other users could tell me if they have had similar problems with side locks, or with repairs that should be covered under guarantee.
