When I listen to livestreaming radio with RealPlayer the screen it is not going back to operational working after the display timeout. You neet to exit RealPlayer and open it again to continue. Firmwareversion 31.0.101. This must be a bug.
View 5 RepliesI want to set up my 5800 to work in the car as a music/navigation/handsfree device. I created a Car profile with ring volumes and other stuff set up just the way I want it. However, I cannot make the screen not to timeout and turn off. Basically, the automatic screen lock is deactivated and shouldn't get into way. When I plug the aux cable into the phone I select the Music Stand accessory which is the only one that has a Screen control setting. It is set to On, from the default Automatic. However, the screen goes black anyway, but the buttons stay lit.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy new S5 keeps getting its display time out value reset to a value of "()", there is no numeric value between the parenthesis. I switch it back to 15 or 30 and seemingly randomly it gets changed. It happened just now after plugging it in to a charger.
Is there some way to see what changes it? Its getting super annoying, happens 2-3 times a day. I run very few apps... and most of those I ran on my old thunderbolt with no issues. Several I also run on my wifes new S5 but she has no problem with hers.
I got this phone for a relative and it arrived today. After setting it up, transferring contacts over and making it easy for her I'm stuck on this simple option. I've looked for over 30 minutes and searched all over using various keywords but I can't find a single answer. Where do you find the display timeout setting on this phone?! It defaults to something stupidly short like 10 seconds when it should be around 30 seconds at least. How fast do they think people read text messages? If I can't change this setting I don't think they'll want to keep the phone which is a shame as it looks quite nice in general.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIntermittenly the display screen timeout resets to NEVER. Nothing that I do (or at least so I think) causes this. I don't know it until I notice that the battery is dangereously low. Don't have any apps that may cause this that I know of.
Used to have a similiar situation with the Original Droid where it would reset to 30 seconds.
Does this happen to anyone else and if so how did you get around it? Or is it yet another bug in the operating system? Happened pre-GB also. Doesn't seem to be more or less frequent with GB.
I was wondering how this audio message in nokia 5800 xm works, is it based on MMS? or is there any way by which we can send by wifi?

A couple of days ago it started to turn the screen on by itself every time it timed out or I pressed the lock button... Unless it's plugged into a charger. I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling any recent apps I'd installed but to no avail. Annoyingly, by the time I got myself to carphone warehouse to get it sorted I was just outside my 28 days.

everything was fine until these few days and i don't know what the problem is or what i have to do.
I have 5800 with version 40. When I go to establish a Bluetooth connection between the phone and my car stereo with BT, the phone finds the car audio receiver but fails to pair .
In the phone help section , it say I need to first assign a pin code to the phone and then enter the same number on the radio receiver and then start pairing .
I have looked all over and can not find any menu on my phone that let me input any pin number . I have tried numbers like 12345 and 1234 on the radio receiver but failed .
Does any one knows how to input the pin number . This apparently is not the Sim number .
This is a number we are supposed to come up with and input in both devices
I'm using my phone more than 5 months. Yesterday come back after work and saw that half of the display is in black and white stripes. I try restart it didn't help, in forums read that here may be soft problems, I have updated software, but it didn't help too. Maybe someone had the same problem. And I would like to know if I'll change lcd screen, it will solve this problem or not?

I work nights, and until last year was able to convert BBC Listen Again radio programmer to RealPlayer and listen to them again in the evening when at work with headphones on my N5800XM I used to convert (using iplayer converter) the files, but for some reason the BBC stopped the RealPlayer format and since then I have been unable to listen again to any local programmes (think they are in windows media format now).
I say Listen Again, but I can listen to the main National BBC radio programmes, such as, BBC Radio 1, 2, 3, etc., but I desperately want to listen to Local BBC Radio.
Am I doing something wrong? I can access Iplayer through my mobile, and find the required programme. When I press yes, it takes me straight back to the "Do you want to download Iplayer" and wont let me go any further. I already have Iplayer on my mobile and can watch TV progrmmes and as said before National Radio Programmes.
Getting desperate now, and thought it a bit too trivial to mention it on the forums, but it is sooooo frustrating. Someone else must have come across this problem. Or maybe, it is something you can't do and then I can stop fretting.

Well I have this phone for over 2 years and now I have a big problem with it that won't go away. The screen goes completely into stripes and is unreadable. It just showed up like that and it's always when I use the screen-lock button (slide button on the side) that this happends and then stays.Once I got rid of it by rebooting the phone almost 10 times or turning it of a whole day but as soon as I use the screen-lock button (slide button on the side) it comes back.

In the call log of earlier generation (nonSymbian) Nokia phones one could select a recent number (dialed, received or missed) and scroll through all recent calls for that number. For dialed or received numbers it also showed the duration of each call. On the 5800 all I can see is the number and time of the latest call for each number.

I noticed my phone going really slow, when I went into the c: folder on the included file manager of the phone it said I had only 3mb free space. After getting rid of bluetooth sis files in the messages folder and clearing the internet cahe I now have showing on drive c: free space of 23.2MB - good I suppose but I want to see if I can free up more space as the phone I believe does have around 80mb total (I know i should expect that system files of the phone will take up space but this much?) so anyway I suppose what I am is asking how I can free up more space as I cant see any more files I can delete on C: going through the inbuilt file manager and using windows file manager. I suppose I could use an app like y-browser or active file manager or whatever the app is called but its quite time consuming doing it through the phone, i would rather if anyone knows of an windows xp application where I can link up my Nokia 5800 by USB cable and run an XP app which will hunt out all files on C: including hidden/system and other files. i know I am going into dangerous terrotory of seeing system files and deleting them and bricking the phone but if I could see some hidden pictures and sound that I dont use and they are not tied to system files then I could delete them and get some more files back on C: - or has anyone know what else I could clear on the phone to give me back more than 23mb?
View 4 Replies View Relatedsince I updated the software I have the following issue. when I use maps I select the destination and then switch off the phone's display (lock key) and use spoken directions only. saves massively on batery power. but now after each direction it unlocks the phone (switches the display back on). previous version worked just fine. as a result on longer journeys it has become useless for me.
please let it keep switched off again. or make it optional. or a system option to not let any application unlock the phone.
For some unknown reason the right button was changed from 'Back' to 'Done. I find myself making up alarms I didn't intend to do. Also, the right-side buttons are usually 'Back' or 'Cancel' and this is very confusing.
These are tiny things that should've been caught by the Nokia employees but either they're not doing their job or think nobody would care. The tiniest things can either make or BREAK.
My camera has stopped working on my nokia 5800 press camera button and it just goes back to menu screen. Tried camera through apps does same thing and it does not show it open also. It will not play any videos just sound. I watch bbciplayer a lot on my phone and all I get is sound it just comes up and says unable to play video or sound but I can hear the sound. Just not see the video and also vidoes what I have took on my phone done soft and hard reset firmware update.
