Nokia Navigation :: Display Keeps Switching Back On After Each Direction?
May 23, 2012
since I updated the software I have the following issue. when I use maps I select the destination and then switch off the phone's display (lock key) and use spoken directions only. saves massively on batery power. but now after each direction it unlocks the phone (switches the display back on). previous version worked just fine. as a result on longer journeys it has become useless for me.
please let it keep switched off again. or make it optional. or a system option to not let any application unlock the phone.
Are others experiencing clipping of the first couple of words of each Navigation turn direction when sending the audio to a bluetooth headset? I don't experience this problem when using the DX's speaker.
I recently bought a used N8 to replace my old one that got stolen, although it works perfectly, I've had a couple of occasions where it has switched itself off overnight, & I cannot switch back on until putting on charge, despite the phone being well charged the day before. Is it possible that an app I've downloaded could be causing the battery to discharge overnight?
I have a C5-00 5MP and I downloaded maps for walking ("with street names"). But Ovi Maps seems unable to get aware of it : the menu allowing to select the walking guidance voice in settings remains empty. The voices for driving guidance are displayed OK though.
When I listen to livestreaming radio with RealPlayer the screen it is not going back to operational working after the display timeout. You neet to exit RealPlayer and open it again to continue. Firmwareversion 31.0.101. This must be a bug.
Swing the "8" with the phone but nothing has changed. The compass circle is red.I tried it outdoors, away from any electrical appliances or or any large metal objects. When I bought e52, it was working but now it isn't working. Does it may from mechanic problem. What does the digital compass depend for right direction. Do I must any nokia service. please help me.
I was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. Anyone had similar issues ?I own Nokia 5800XM, v40.0.005.
I went for a stroll around town today with my iPhone 4, and used it as I normally would. The result was upsetting. In places that my 3GS shined, the iPhone 4 was unable to load a webpage. The overall speed of making phone calls and sending texts was noticeably slower on my iPhone 4. I don't care what the reason is behind this, all I want is my phone to work like it's supposed to! I love the screen and cameras on the 4, but it's just not worth the hassle. I'll wait a few days for Apple to respond, but if they don't I'm switching my 3GS back on and selling my 4 on ebay. Anybody considering the same thing? The 3GS was such a reliable phone for me.
Generally on Sat Nav devices, they can be set up so that north is always up, or so that the direction of travel is up.I only seem to be able to set up Nokia Maps so that north is up. How do i get it to rotate the map as I travel so that my direction of travel is up? For info, I am using Nokia Maps on a 5800.
if i already saved my previous road direction in drive mode , but i cannot delete it , no delete function found, it is annoying...how u guys to remove it ? for landmark ,i know i can delete inside location icon..but this road direction no...really Nokia not aware of this ?
I have and LG V10 (just got it a week ago). My WiFi does not automatically connect to my saved connections (mainly home/work). When I open WiFi, the connection I am attempting to connect to shows Disabled. It connects right away when I hit connect. I have tried multiple times to forget/reconnect and nothing is working. I have Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. I have been reading forums and so for nothing is working.
I keep having to manually turn it off (by unchecking 'Data enabled'), which is annoying. What might be triggering it back on all the time? I want to use wifi when available and only (expensive) 3G data when no wifi is available. what I should check? I've read that 'apndroid' can assist, however I don't want to use this if it's not necessary.
I can't switch back to my "WAP 2.0 Browser(CSL)" anymore. I did a battery pull, and after that when it switched but when I tried to load a page it said "This is a wifi service".I have the service books:
I'm not sure that i'm the only one with this issue, but I have a custom ringtone set for both my calls and my notifications. Now what happens is when i plug my phone into my pc and use it as a mass storage drive (at least I think its whats causing the problem) my ringtones automatically switch from my custom ones to the default ones. This gets to be really aggravating to have to change them both back everytime, especially since I have an additional silent ringtone for all the oter notification sounds that you cant turn off (facebook, e-mail, and plugging the device in to the PC) which may I add, is an issue within an issue but I can live with it. My files are in the internal memory, not on the SD card and in the default media/audio/notifications or ringtones.
A Couple of days ago when I had my headphones in and was listening to music on pandora I switched to youtube to listen to something and when I do that pandora automatically stopped playing, like it's supposed to. I then closed the pandora app and was watching a youtube video. In the middle of the video my music from pandora started playing, when the app was closed. I pressed no buttons or anything to make it play that music. The app was closed. Since then it's been happening more often. Sometimes itll be my itunes music that will randomly started playing when I'm watching a youtube video, and the itunes app is closed. And I'll try to make it stop by opening and closing it again but then when I go to youtube it'll start playing again and I can't make it stop. Does this sound like some sort of water damage to my headphone jack or maybe a problem with my headphones?
Tried out my first face time call. Everything worked great except when I pushed the toggle to utilize the back camera, the person I was talking to said their image of me simply froze. They were not able to see through my back camera. When they switched to their back camera I saw everything fine.
I am currently traveling and I would like to chose the strongest company in this region. The problem is that when I chose: Menu - Settings - Device - Operator selection - manual, the phone switches back to the home screen. It means my Asha is not looking for any other operator. It remains at the end on automatically.Since I have the phone it is like this, latest update is installed and no change.
I installed Nokia Navigation 2.0 with some maps on my Lumia phone. But how can I find out the version of the installed maps? And how can I check the actual existing version of the maps on the Nokia server?
If instructions upon page 77 of N9 UG (Eng) not clear enough you do need to download appropriate voice file with street names as none installed by default. After you have chosen "Walking person" icon > Get directions > Navigate you need to tap upon grey tool bar at base of screen After selecting Voice Guidance > tap on select voice to reveal choices available.
I have downloaded the "Own Voice" guidance for navigation but seem to have lost my setting it up. how to set up my own voice? By that I mean, to record my own voice? All I can do as of now is choose "Own Voice" in the Settings -> Walk/Drive -> Voice Guidance. But where to RECORD my own voice?
is it possible to use the satellite view during navigation? Is saw this with the Google Maps navigation app and I'm wondering now, if it's possible with Nokia Maps, too.
Maps 3.08 does not let me calibrate my compass (at least not by ticking once or twice at the compass). By consequence, while navigating it does not orientate the display with the top in the forward direction. I found a workaround by using a separate compass application, calibrate the compass there, and then Maps works perfect. There must be a easier way to calibrate the compass from within the Maps application.
I got a used bold 9700 with a display which doesn`t work anymore. I opened the bold and it looks like that the display had been changed already once. But on the replaced one is no number written on. How is it possible to get the right number? Is there a possbility to trace back by the model number and whom should I contact?
Navigation used to work fine on my X6, but since having to do a hard reset of the phone (due to other problems!) I cannot use the Navigation.
Everytime I get the error 'navigation cannot start at this location' and it doesn't seem like the phone can ever pick up my location.I have tried un-installing and re-installing the application but to no-avail!I haven't even wasted my time calling Nokia Support, as they are totally useless!
getting very frustrated with this now. I have given my dad my N95 to help him get around but just cant get the map navigation to work. I downloaded the Nokia Map Loader (I had to go to a third party website as the Nokia links were all broken) and have the map/voices but when my dad tries to use the navigation it tells him he has to pay.Obviously, I know that Nokia have now made these services free to complete with other company's devices, I'm just being stupid and not going to the right place to download them. When i go to www.nokia.com/maps on the phone it doesnt do anything. I've been trying for over a day now and the phone has almost made contact with the wall a few time
