Swing the "8" with the phone but nothing has changed.The compass circle is red.I tried it outdoors, away from any electrical appliances or or any large metal objects. When I bought e52, it was working but now it isn't working. Does it may from mechanic problem. What does the digital compass depend for right direction. Do I must any nokia service. please help me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. Anyone had similar issues ?I own Nokia 5800XM, v40.0.005.
View 12 Replies View Relatedfew days back i bought my first BB ( Curve 8520) & activated BSNL (India) BIS LITE Plan (unlimited e-mail access only, no browser, no social networks etc. ) which is perfect for my needs.My problem is i can't get BIS data services over wifi - white dash indication instead of green check in front of wifi connection option, no e-mail over wifi, only browsing is possible. As my office is basement where GSM Signal aren't available, I am badly in need of BIS over Wifi.
I tried very thing given in the various forms from device wipe, wifi diagnostics, bb ip pinging, telneting, HRT WIFI 60 registration to hard reset etc. many times & also did talked to Customer Care a lot but couldn't get my problem solved.
After all communications BSNL Customer Care finally told me that I can access BIS Services Over Wifi only if I take BIS Unlimited Plan (which is 3 times costlier than my current one & quite unnecessary for my needs) & with my current Plan I can't access BIS over Wi-Fi.This makes no sense, basically I don't believe this, never read or heard anywhere. BB document mentioned below regarding accessing blackberry data services through wifi doesn't mention any caveat like this
Generally on Sat Nav devices, they can be set up so that north is always up, or so that the direction of travel is up.I only seem to be able to set up Nokia Maps so that north is up. How do i get it to rotate the map as I travel so that my direction of travel is up? For info, I am using Nokia Maps on a 5800.

View 3 Replies View Relatedsince I updated the software I have the following issue. when I use maps I select the destination and then switch off the phone's display (lock key) and use spoken directions only. saves massively on batery power. but now after each direction it unlocks the phone (switches the display back on). previous version worked just fine. as a result on longer journeys it has become useless for me.
please let it keep switched off again. or make it optional. or a system option to not let any application unlock the phone.
How can we use the zoom while clicking pictures ?

I didn't find any trace of such digital mic, be it analogue or digital... the in-built mic is of course not stereo, and the mic in the remote isn't also, leave apart being 'digital'

View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday I installed the new free Ovi Maps and managed to download some maps and voice guidance files onto it as well. Yay for the free new gadget. But somehow my compass doesn't seem to work anymore. Or rather, it stays white and I don't see the map tilt. With the previous version I would just move the phone along all axis for a few seconds and it would turn from white to yellow to green (as described in the manual). Here, nothing happens, no matter how long or how often I turn and twist the thing.Is there a different way to do it in the new Ovi Maps? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug? If so, am I the only one with it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe inbuilt magnetometer on my phone seems to have developed issues. It does not work in maps. It is always greyed . In fact it should be aligned in The direction of The travel. It is always stuck at north at top. Is this a hardware issue or can it be sorted out by software reinstall?EVEN THE OTHER COMPASS APPS DONT WORK. I have downloaded compass touch from Nokia store. Anyone else with same issue? And yes, I had performed a hard reset (*#7370#) after belle refresh. Not sure whether this issue came up after this or it was there before.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe compass is not working on my Nokia C6-01.I cant calibrate it. Even other compass apps dont work. Nokia care staff reinstalled firmware, but the issue was not solved. They said it is a sensor issue and they will check whether this is in touch panel or the board itself. I just want to know whether sensor has any role to play in a compass. The Nokia care staff has no idea of what a compass is and how it works. He didnt understand the exact problem even after I showed it. I had to grab another similar phone and showed him how it works or should work. I am fed up with the failure of Nokia phones within a year or so. This is my 3rd handset in row to have developed issues. Seems better to move on to other phones.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have loaded Ovi Maps 3.03 on my N86 and all seems to be working with the exception that there is no Align Map to Route selection, only default operation of Align Map North. I always used Align Map to Route in the older versions when not navigating and prefer this to always having maps align to north. I found that the compass always starts off and to turn the compass on I need to press the 5 key (the Align map north key) to turn Align to North off and enabe the compass, but this doesn't help when in a car as the compass does not function correctly in a car.Is anyone else seeing the same issues on other phones or is this just an issue with the N86 for which Maps 3.03 isn't released yet?I certainly hope future versions allow for a default selection of either Align Maps North or Align Maps to Route (when not navigating) as well as a seperate selection for defaulting (and selecting) Compass On or Compass Off.
