Nokia :: 5800 Can Maps Rotate To Direction Of Travel
May 2, 2010Generally on Sat Nav devices, they can be set up so that north is always up, or so that the direction of travel is up.I only seem to be able to set up Nokia Maps so that north is up. How do i get it to rotate the map as I travel so that my direction of travel is up? For info, I am using Nokia Maps on a 5800.

Dec 25, 2012I've had my Lumia 920 for about a month now - it is a German Vodafone model. As of today while I was out at work I went to use it to send a text and they keyboard would no longer change orientation when I flipped the phone sideways. Nothing would rotate anymore, photos, web pages; its as if the rotation setting is not working. I looked to find one but I can't. I've heard a few issues on various forums like WPcentral about this and that it might be a software bug, and a search of this forum has another user whose rotation doesn't work, but I don't know why this would have just started, and I've tried hard resets and soft resets and nothing seems to fix it.I would really like some information about this or a possible fix, as this is really killing the useability of the phone - that along with the random restarts which happen several times a day on average.

Jan 23, 2010I was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. May 23, 2012since I updated the software I have the following issue. when I use maps I select the destination and then switch off the phone's display (lock key) and use spoken directions only. saves massively on batery power. but now after each direction it unlocks the phone (switches the display back on). previous version worked just fine. as a result on longer journeys it has become useless for me.
please let it keep switched off again. or make it optional. or a system option to not let any application unlock the phone.

I've tried in the browser and also opera.I've gone to Settings->Display and auto-rotate is ticked. I did a G-Sensor calibration and that didn't help either.Is it possible that the accelerometer is broken? How can I test it to see if it's working?I also tried to play Replica Island using the accelerometer and the robot won't move no matter which way I tilt the phone.
