LG G4 :: GPS - Compass Not Pointing In Right Direction Using Google Maps
Jul 13, 2015
Have issues with the compass not pointing in the right direction using Google Maps and any compass app? I went to the AT&T store and tried the LG G4 here in NYC and it was off by 90deg. I tried using the iPhone 6 which was pointing correctly. I am a LG G2 owner and its been frustrating having a compass that doesn't work properly.
i have a problem with my gps the arrow is pointing to a other direction not the direction i'm pointing my phone to in google mape i dont know if its a hardware issue or what
Swing the "8" with the phone but nothing has changed. The compass circle is red.I tried it outdoors, away from any electrical appliances or or any large metal objects. When I bought e52, it was working but now it isn't working. Does it may from mechanic problem. What does the digital compass depend for right direction. Do I must any nokia service. please help me.
I noticed that the compass on google map (blue little arrow) is a bit crazy. it will not point north. It may point west but when I tilt the phone up or down even just a bit (still pointing north), it will flip to pointing east. If I drive with the Map app open, the arrow (using GPS I guess) point to the direction of driving. but a few seconds after stopping the around will flip between 90 and 100 degrees, until I start moving again. I found that google sky also goes totally crazy and jumps all around when I use it. I downloaded a compass app and it also shows the compass moving erratically when I move the phone even a few degrees. Although this phone is brand new (4 days) it is not my first Android nor my first Moto. I remember that my other phone had a compass calibration utility and I can't seem to find it on the Razr..
I was very disappointed with the new version of ovi maps (with free voice guided navigation) due to the fact than the new version did not turn the map in the direction of travel. It turns while a route search is made, but not otherwise. Its was a cool feature which was available in ovi maps 3.0. In 3D mode this was really cool. I wonder why nokia scrapped this useful feature. Anyone had similar issues ?I own Nokia 5800XM, v40.0.005.
Generally on Sat Nav devices, they can be set up so that north is always up, or so that the direction of travel is up.I only seem to be able to set up Nokia Maps so that north is up. How do i get it to rotate the map as I travel so that my direction of travel is up? For info, I am using Nokia Maps on a 5800.
if i already saved my previous road direction in drive mode , but i cannot delete it , no delete function found, it is annoying...how u guys to remove it ? for landmark ,i know i can delete inside location icon..but this road direction no...really Nokia not aware of this ?
When I get maps to find me the arrow shows me facing west when I'm facing east. When I put it in landscape the east west is correct but the north south then messes up.
Yesterday I installed the new free Ovi Maps and managed to download some maps and voice guidance files onto it as well. Yay for the free new gadget. But somehow my compass doesn't seem to work anymore. Or rather, it stays white and I don't see the map tilt. With the previous version I would just move the phone along all axis for a few seconds and it would turn from white to yellow to green (as described in the manual). Here, nothing happens, no matter how long or how often I turn and twist the thing. Is there a different way to do it in the new Ovi Maps? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug? If so, am I the only one with it?
I made the mistake of *upgrading* on the 6710 Bug 1. IT makes a horrible beeping noise after a while, sounds distorted.Bug 2. Maybe not a bug, but how do you put in an address to someones house? Still wondering probably awkwardly Compass Support on Ovi Maps 3.3 where has it gone? 6210, 6710, N97, and all the other Navigator Editions with compass support, it's gone vanished, now i have issues tracking down the old version to install.btw. i spent 25 minutes on the phone to nokia care, and it took me 12 calls to get through after the first 3 telephone numbers i got given has been disconnected.been a lousy day for me dealing with Nokia.
After using newly updated Nokia Maps 3.8 in N8 for sometime the Compass has been greyed out all the time.Unable to enable it or atleast don't know how to.Also tried to reinstall maps but failed.Compass is working fine with Compass Lite .Having Symbian Anna with all the latest updates in my Mobile.
The compass in my E6, just upgraded to Belle, doesn't work at all in Maps 3.08 (not that it did in Anna, either), but does so just fine in Augmentra's excellent ViewRanger. At least it worked occasionally on the E72.Does the compass need to be deliberately switched on in Maps 3.08 in Belle?
I read somewhere that Google is rolling out the new feature, so I guess my G4 just hasn't received it yet. Why why there can be a difference when the Google Maps have identical version numbers.
My VZW Galaxy Note 5 and VZW LG G4 have identical Google Maps version: 9.17.1 (#917101224)
However, the Note 5 was able to start using true offline maps/navigation/search while in airplane mode since yesterday.(provided that I downloaded the offline for the city first)
I don't know what happened but Google maps and Google now think I am on the other side of the country. I am in Ohio and it is showing my location as in a neighborhood in Salt Lake city, Utah. I have turned location, WiFi and GPS on and off. Also I have turned the phone on and off. I am on T-Mobile and my other phones location is correct.
Ever since my update with wifi calling (Sprint), I haven't been able to use the Google maps navigator. My device has problems locating my exact location and the direction traveling.
I'm seriously contemplating upgrading my LG G3 to an iPhone 5S. The reason is, I use my phone a lot for navigation, and unfortunately it seems that Androids just aren't up to the task, although, it could just be this particular model. Ironically, my old iPhone 4 would never overheat, even when I used Google Maps for several hours. However, every time I use Google Maps for just a couple of minutes on the LG G3, my phone overheats and then shuts down. I took it to the Verizon Store, where they told me it was a software issue, and they told me that they fixed the problem, but right afterward, I tried using it to navigate again, and it still continued to overheat. What should I do?
I have not had occasion to seek directions for travel using my Nexus 5 before. Today I needed directions and used Google Maps for no more than 5 minutes. The device became very hot. After I shut down the directions I looked at the battery information on the app battery notifier BT free. It said discharging, temp/health 118F/overheat. I was taken by surprise. Should I have expected that much heat from using Google Maps directions for such a short time?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 SMARTPHONE. How do I print maps and directions. I don't have access to a desktop computer. My printer is a standalone printer connected to the smartphone via WIFI.
