The compass in my E6, just upgraded to Belle, doesn't work at all in Maps 3.08 (not that it did in Anna, either), but does so just fine in Augmentra's excellent ViewRanger. At least it worked occasionally on the E72.Does the compass need to be deliberately switched on in Maps 3.08 in Belle?

1) The 5230 has a magnetic compass built in it? Where it is documented?
2) It is used in navigation using Ovi Maps? How and when?
3) How I can calibrate it, making the 360 turn, as suggested elsewhere? On what screen/menu is the function selected?
I currently own a Nokia C7 and recently upgraded to Belle (which is fantastic) and as such Nokia Maps 3.08 was also installed.The map upgrade did not come with any homescreen widgets, and I have seen videos/screenshots of phones with a 'my position' type map widget (which fills half a homescreen) and a 'weather' widget (a bar type widget which when clicked is cleary the nokia maps weather app).how to get hold of them as I cannot find them on the Nokia store?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter hard reset of my nokia e6 belle, when I try to download maps NSuite shows that maps are downloaded, but after I disconnect and reconnect phone, NSuite show that I don't have maps on phone and offer me to install them again. Maploader on phone doesn't recognise my wifi, even before. I tried to reinstall phone belle software, maps application are updated, tried different computers.. It seems like NSuite don't save maps on mass memory.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThe inbuilt magnetometer on my phone seems to have developed issues. It does not work in maps. It is always greyed . In fact it should be aligned in The direction of The travel. It is always stuck at north at top. Is this a hardware issue or can it be sorted out by software reinstall?EVEN THE OTHER COMPASS APPS DONT WORK. I have downloaded compass touch from Nokia store. Anyone else with same issue? And yes, I had performed a hard reset (*#7370#) after belle refresh. Not sure whether this issue came up after this or it was there before.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe compass is not working on my Nokia C6-01.I cant calibrate it. Even other compass apps dont work. Nokia care staff reinstalled firmware, but the issue was not solved. They said it is a sensor issue and they will check whether this is in touch panel or the board itself. I just want to know whether sensor has any role to play in a compass. The Nokia care staff has no idea of what a compass is and how it works. He didnt understand the exact problem even after I showed it. I had to grab another similar phone and showed him how it works or should work. I am fed up with the failure of Nokia phones within a year or so. This is my 3rd handset in row to have developed issues. Seems better to move on to other phones.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEast and west are completely reversed, no matter how much I try to calibrate the phone. For example, if I'm facing north (which the compass recognizes) and turn to the right to face east, the compass actually turns to the left to point west...and vice versa. No problems whatsoever with north and south....just a 180degree reversal of east and west.

View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday I installed the new free Ovi Maps and managed to download some maps and voice guidance files onto it as well. Yay for the free new gadget. But somehow my compass doesn't seem to work anymore. Or rather, it stays white and I don't see the map tilt. With the previous version I would just move the phone along all axis for a few seconds and it would turn from white to yellow to green (as described in the manual). Here, nothing happens, no matter how long or how often I turn and twist the thing.Is there a different way to do it in the new Ovi Maps? Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug? If so, am I the only one with it?

Maybe not a bug, but how do you put in an address to someones house? After this update when I open the Maps and select Settings and Navigation (to change i.e. voice), Maps closes automatically without any error messages. I can open all the other settings sub-menus. Any ideas why this is happening? Do I have the to re-install the application, maps and voices?

I updated my N8 to Belle using Nokia Suite few hours ago. Half hour ago my phone has switched itself off and can't start it. When I press the power button it shows Nokia and after that the loading screen (those 5 white points) for like 30 second with the menu button light turned on and after that it shuts down.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a nokia E7 (Blue) US Version but I am using it in Canada. I updated it to Symbian Anna and so on. Everytime I try to add new maps from the cell phone itself it says (downloading list, please wait) this takes FOREVER, then i try to do it by nokia ovi suite, well that is even worse, sometimes it says THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH CONNECTING THE ONLINE MAPS, sometimes it says some crazy errors (COULDNT CONNECT TO THE SERVICE, ETCC). I deleted the E:/cities folder + QF file, I opened the Ovi map apps and they got restored and so on but still nothing happens. Is there any other way to add some map I mean MANUALLY? I need the USA and Canada map, (voice guidande male us), I read some discussion from Ovikudy on how to do it manually but i need theses files.
BTW, I regret buying this Nokia E7 big time I should have listened to my friends and go to ANDROID. I know nokia is killing symbian but please fix those MAP serverS.
using Nokia C7 and Belle and tried to update maps. First error message said 'if you update you will lose all the other maps data'. OK, I need the latest maps. Using wi-fi I updated just my countries latest maps, so far so good. Then updated Europe OK. That was last night. Today, tried to update all the other maps and Nokia suite says they are already on the phone.The C7 hangs on 'Map Loader' for 10 mins and then quits, tried restarting the C7 and computer - no change. Nokia suite say all maps are on the phone, no idea how they got there or what version they are though.

The Nokia Maps app does pretty good nav but whereas e.g. TT will accept a postcode like CT16 2AB, Nokia Maps (or Drive as it is called; the Drive app shares the same database with the Maps app) accepts only CT162.
Today I tried to drive from Brighton (UK) to Biggin Hill Airport but Drive could not find Biggin Hill, which is weird. So I used an old Pocket/PC PDA with TT6 to get there. The Nokia apps did not show any roads/streets for a large area around the destination and on the way back it was about half an hour before I reached a map showing roads/streets. I deleted and reloaded the UK map (400MB) from Nokia and that fixed that bizzare issue, but having two ways to do the job is obviously desirable. And TT is a better app with a better database.
I've been trying to use the GPS navigation through NOKIA MAPS but it doesn't work, in my phone's screen appears "the license has expired" or something like that. I'd like to know what i've to do to make it work. Because Iv'e heard that tthe GPS navigation in other nokia models is free.
