I have a N97 and recently the main screen disappears and I cant get it back except switching the phone off and on again, anyone else seen this?
View 6 RepliesI have a N95 that has a weird screen issue. I've spent just over a week looking for an answer, searching Google and forums.The screen is very dull on the main menu, to the extent that to see any data on it you need to be in a very dark room. The screen saver however is just as bright as it has always been, brighter in fact.
I've turned the screen brightness up to full but this made no difference. It is almost as if the back light has been turned off.Does anyone know how to turn the back light on or even any resolution of this so I can use the phone during the day.
If you loose the Icons that are preprogramed on your I phone and they have disappeared how do I go about getting them back onto my main screen?

I am currently traveling and I would like to chose the strongest company in this region. The problem is that when I chose: Menu - Settings - Device - Operator selection - manual, the phone switches back to the home screen.It means my Asha is not looking for any other operator. It remains at the end on automatically.Since I have the phone it is like this, latest update is installed and no change.

View 6 Replies View RelatedCan anyone help? I am/was one of the lucky N97 owners my phone was relatively stable - well anything would be if comparing it to the N96!!! However, since I upgraded the software to latest version way back in November, 2009, I find my phone memory disappears daily. I have transferred everything possible to E Mass Memory and have also backed up and reinstalled the software, but after doing yet another scan of the C Phone Memory I see that I still have 39MB Other Files - which I have no idea what they are or indeed how to get rid of them. Each day this file gets larger, and eventually it will take up all the memory on the Phone again. A problem which happened with the previous version so that it just would not work at all. The last version of software has given me more memory to use, but if I don't resolve this problem I will run out of memory again before too long.
View 4 Replies View Relatedsince I updated the software I have the following issue. when I use maps I select the destination and then switch off the phone's display (lock key) and use spoken directions only. saves massively on batery power. but now after each direction it unlocks the phone (switches the display back on). previous version worked just fine. as a result on longer journeys it has become useless for me.
please let it keep switched off again. or make it optional. or a system option to not let any application unlock the phone.
I recently bought a used N8 to replace my old one that got stolen, although it works perfectly, I've had a couple of occasions where it has switched itself off overnight, & I cannot switch back on until putting on charge, despite the phone being well charged the day before.Is it possible that an app I've downloaded could be causing the battery to discharge overnight?

I have to refresh Mail twice to make messages stay in my inbox, else new messages disappear and do the same thing the next time the iPhone checks for e-mails (which is very annoying because if I leave it it'll vibrate over and over again because of just one e-mail).Restoring doesn't do it, and my iPod touch actually does the same thing too.

I did a safe boot and now since then, it no longer asks me to unlock it upon turning the phone on. It just asks me to unlock it after it boots to the main screen.
Which is the norm? And if its normal to ask to unlock when it first turns on, how can I get that to come back? I'm stock/not rooted.

Happened a good three or 4 times on a call yesterday. I was talking on the phone and made sure I locked the screen and then ever couple minutes the screen would switch back n forth between that and speaker and nope it wasn't my face hitting the button on the screen.

In the settings, I have the following options (all names translated from the Polish interface, so original English names can be different) - "Email notification 1", "Email notification 2" and "Nokia Messaging email". The first two seem to refer to the default email program (not Messaging) - I cannot set any mailboxes for them ("There is no mailbox" error). "Nokia Messaging email" shows the "Set up e-mail" link on the main screen. With previous firmware and messaging I had another option "Nokia Intellisync" which triggered email list on the main screen. No such option anymore.
2. Email notifications are "on" in Messaging but when emails arrive there is only a sound. No icon (@) anywhere, no blinking.
I just purchased a Nokia 5800 and I happened to notice that when i receive a text message, it does not show the name of the sender in the main screen. I have seen other Nokia phones and I am sure the phone must display the sender's name or number in the home screen as soon as the message arrives, but mine just says 1 New Message instead of 1 New Message from xyz. Are there any settings I need to change or is it this way itself in 5800?

However, I'ts happened again.My inbox had 3 messages, that I'd not heard a beep for, I had no little envelope icon and no "New Message" alert on the main screen.
As a test, we sent a message to my phone, the message hit the inbox, but there were no notificataions. I changed the profile and sent another text.. same again, no notifications.I rebooted the phone and sent another message.. this time everything worked OK.I'm using a standard message tone as the tone alert..
Just last week I got myself a new nokia e72, the first day itself- i started experiencing problems-the thing started to reset itself numerous times. I decided to do a firmware upgrade and still NO CHANGE! The next day it started to spontaneously switch off without no reason. I completely formated both my memory card and phone memory and still the same problem! I gota say, it's a piece of junk! The thing resets itself and likes to off itself! Anybody experiencing similar problems? What a waste of money!

since yesterday I'm owner of N85-1 phone, so I was very happy when I saw the device (it is a present), but today I've become very sad.
So, my main PROMLEM is very strange:
Last evening I used the phone for probably 30 min. conversation, than I set the alarm clock in order to wake up this morning and go to work. But I overslept and a thought that I did not hear the phone alarm.
My surprise was huge when I tried to switch on the phone, I entered the PIN code of the card and there was the alarm active whit the usual two options - snooze or switch it of. No matter what I choose the phone is blocking and I can't use it at all. The only way to do something is to remove the battery, so I've done it this morning for at least 20 times and the result is the same every time - the phone is blocked and I can't do anything to use the phone.
In the same time when I dial my number from other phone I'm hearing the "free" signal, but the N85 is not ringing at all.
