LG G4 :: Screen Turning Itself Back On After Timeout / Lock
Jun 29, 2015
I've had the G4 since it was launched and until now been very pleased. A couple of days ago it started to turn the screen on by itself every time it timed out or I pressed the lock button... Unless it's plugged into a charger. I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling any recent apps I'd installed but to no avail. Annoyingly, by the time I got myself to carphone warehouse to get it sorted I was just outside my 28 days.
I want to set up my 5800 to work in the car as a music/navigation/handsfree device. I created a Car profile with ring volumes and other stuff set up just the way I want it. However, I cannot make the screen not to timeout and turn off. Basically, the automatic screen lock is deactivated and shouldn't get into way. When I plug the aux cable into the phone I select the Music Stand accessory which is the only one that has a Screen control setting. It is set to On, from the default Automatic. However, the screen goes black anyway, but the buttons stay lit.
When I bought my Icon, I noticed how there is no 'Never' option for when your screen times out. That option was on my 920 and it's a nice feature to have. Does 8.1 have the 'Never' time out option, or is it just the way it is on Icons, regardless of software version?
Settings > Display and wallpaper > Screen timeout: doesn't seem to have any affect on lock screen.Settings > Lock screen and security: can't find any settings relating to timeout."Smart Stay":
How do you increase the timeout on the lock screen? My girlfriend got a new S6 and I also have one and we are using a pin number but screen goes dark very fast, before we can put the pin number in.
Upgraded from S3 to S5. I am very happy with S5 overall and have everything customized as I want except one issue. I cannot figure out how to get the lock screen to stop from turning off after 1 or 1..5 seconds. I hardly have time to use the fingerprint scanner because the screen turns off so quickly. I have tried turning off all power settings and have changed the timeouts everywhere else to 6 seconds to 1 minute but I cannot figure out how to extend the lockscreen timeout.
Any way to decouple the display timeout from the screen lock? In other words, when the display times out after 30 secs., I would like to just touch the display to wake it up rather than going through the 2 step process of unlocking the screen.
I updated my x10 mini pro a few days ago to android 2.1 The problem is that after the update the menu, home and back keys don't work after screen timeout so I have to press the key on the top of the phone to activate the screen and then unlock it.The point is why the hardware keys on the front don't work after screen timeout? Pressing the key on the top and then unlocking the phone can be really annoying...
My Ray's screen can't be turned on after every screen lock event. Any solution for this? I have reinstall my entire phone through SEUS and the same error is still occuring. Is is firmware problem or hardware problem. I can't believe this is happening as i always keep my phone under good condition and its just 4 months old. Dissapointing purchase.
p.s. The screen can be turned on if u keep trying to press the home button. Usually 8-15 minutes after the phone screen is locked. Face palm much.Is there any temporary solution because i urgently need to use my phone!
I like that the home button quickly turns the S5's screen on to the lock screen to check the time or for notifications, but unfortunately hitting the home button again doesn't turn the screen back off and I have to reach for the power button. Is there a way to change that?
Every the lock button is pressed the screen turns back on by itself after a few seconds. The same thing happens when the phone is left to timeout. This started occurring after I left my phone to charge overnight and it hasn't stopped since. I've tried running it in safe mode, but the problem still occurs. I have also tried factory resetting, clearing cache, and a simple restart.
My xperia mini pro touchscreen became unresponsive after turning it back on. In order to make it work again, I would need to remove the battery and put it back again.
So as things are perfect and smiley in the world, the way to make your day complete is to drop your brand new samsung galaxy s2 from a pathetically small height and watch as the whole screen shatters to bits. Enough to put anyone in a great mood.Fixing the screen isn't the problem though. 02 have agreed to fix it for me, for a small fee, but they have confirmed that the whole phone will be flashed before hand. This is not good. I have a lot of memories on the phone that i would like back.I have connected the phone to samsung keis, however, since the screen locked, the dam thing won't let me in to my own data. Understandably this is to ensure absolutle security to your sh** but I can't help wondering why samsung didn't install an option that allows you to unlock the phone from your computer. really need some help figuring out how I can get my sh** back. If anyone knows how to bypass the screen lock or just refresh it. Any advice would be greatly appriciated. I'm not in a great rush since my mum refuses to pay for the fix. and it'll take me a few weeks to save up.i can't unlock the phone because i can't see the screen and i think the touch pad is bust as well.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. Its not rooted. But I am running Nova Launcher as my default launcher. It causes my lock screen to kinda glitch out. The letters and numbers on the pin lock screen are turning into solid white blocks. I know if I restart my phone, it fixes it. But I'm just curious as to what causes it.
When I listen to livestreaming radio with RealPlayer the screen it is not going back to operational working after the display timeout. You neet to exit RealPlayer and open it again to continue. Firmwareversion 31.0.101. This must be a bug.
I can not get the "swipe" option back on my Galaxy S5. I had used the WiFi at work one day but decided that I really did not need it so I had turned it off. It did ask me to reset my security option to pin, pattern, etc etc so I set a pin number, but now I can't get it back to swipe - the "Swipe" section is grayed out in the "Select screen lock" section and it says "Turned off by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage." I already tried to clear credentials and I also looked for the certificate it asked me to install and i removed that as well. None of that has solved my issue. What I need to do to get swipe access back?
My fiance wants a copy of the photo on her lock screen as it is very precious to us, she went to the settings and it disappeared when looking through settings now only the standard samsung pictures are available. I do hope there is a way of getting it back!
I had a contract with Vodafone over 2 years ago and decided on the BlackBerry Storm 9500 handset . After 6 Months of receiving the phone it developed a fault, i have returned it for repairs on a number of occasions and the reoccurring problem has never been solved & fixed . After eighteen months the phone will still not turn on and when it does work it turns off within one hour of it working, i have been to the Vodafone shop in Torquay South Devon and they supplied me with a new battery to try but it still switches itself off . I ave talked to Vodafone and i was told a fault has been found on this particular model of handset. After 24 months of having this contract phone i have now upgraded to a BlackBerry Torch . I would like to return the 9500 handset to get a free full repair or a replacement as i now need to use both phones. This phone has also had problems with freezing and locking up
Just started happening today. When I turn my phone on, instead of getting the lock screen I get a white screen that just has the emergency call box at the bottom. I can get no further than this. When I touch emergency call, I can see the bar at the top with pending notifications, but no way to get there. I can hear the incoming text notification. I can receive a call. On the white screen, I can see the faint images of home and back at the bottom. I have rebooted, removed the battery. when I start in safe mode, I see the same white screen, but it does say safe mode at the bottom, but still can't do anything or get any further.
This morning the screen of my Z5 Compact starting coming back on after I press the Power Button to turn it off. It seems to be triggered by movement: If I'm holding the phone after pressing the PB, the screen comes back on immediately when my hand moves. If I place the phone flat on a table and press the PB, without additional movement, the screen stays off.
The screen stays off if allowed to Sleep past the set duration.
The past couple of days I've also been getting notifications that certain Apps are preventing Stamina mode from operating. This morning it was Facebook. Yesterday, it was another one I can't remember. Can these issues be related?
The camera app on my Z3 times out, and the camera app closes and returns me to the main screen, after 30 seconds. Sometimes that isn't long enough -- I'm waiting for a specific thing to happen that I want to photograph, like the start of a sporting event, and reopening the camera app is a pain.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and when ever I make a call my screen doesn't automatically timeout when I put it up next to my face. It used to do it before and now it doesn't work. I looked at the settings in the phone and there is nothing...
Phone is doing great, except the screen time out does not work. It did when I first had it but not any more, so the problem is the screen stays on until I push the power button to put it into sleep mode.
i want to set the screen timeout like the way i had it on the original droid. while plugged in, the screen stays on, while unplugged, it only stays on for however long i have it set to. yes, i know how to set it, but i cant seem to find the option for plugged in and unplugged.also, another question. is there an app or widget i can download for free that is alot like the clock/alarm on the original droid, where is shows the weather and auto dims. the clock on the d4 is garbage.
Samsung Galaxy S6 im trying to change the settings in the phone and i need the idle time a little longer. so i went to the settings > Display > Screen timeout i can change the screen timeout from 15 seconds to 30 seconds just fine but if i try to select the 1 mins, 3, mins, 5 mins, and 10 mins a dialog box will appear
Screen timeout
Screen will be turned off when screen is locked. Secured lock is currently set to 30 seconds. I need the phone idle time longer.
I installed the OTA 2.3.6 update last night and now my phone never shuts the screen off automatically. I've tried resetting the timeout period, but no luck. Something is keep it awake after the update.
From the way it appears the option to set the screen timeout to "never" on the AT&T version of the Lumia 920 is missing. Reports are that the option does exist in the Windows Phone 8.Why would this not be a user choice on the AT&T version of the 920?
