I like that the home button quickly turns the S5's screen on to the lock screen to check the time or for notifications, but unfortunately hitting the home button again doesn't turn the screen back off and I have to reach for the power button. Is there a way to change that?
View 21 RepliesEvery the lock button is pressed the screen turns back on by itself after a few seconds. The same thing happens when the phone is left to timeout. This started occurring after I left my phone to charge overnight and it hasn't stopped since. I've tried running it in safe mode, but the problem still occurs. I have also tried factory resetting, clearing cache, and a simple restart.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 month old Galaxy S5 on Verizon, and in the past month I've had a problem where I will press the home button to turn the screen on and there will be a delay of up to 4 seconds before the screen lights up and I can unlock. Oftentimes, the delay is so long that the phone turns the screen back off from inactivity a split second after it finally comes on.
If I am actively using the phone, and then turn the screen off and right back on, there is no delay. It's only after turning back on after several minutes of inactivity (which is most of the time). It's almost as if the phone has put itself to sleep and is taking a long time to wake.I am on Android 4.4.4. If it matters, I also get the camera-daemon battery suck issue from time to time.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. Its not rooted. But I am running Nova Launcher as my default launcher. It causes my lock screen to kinda glitch out. The letters and numbers on the pin lock screen are turning into solid white blocks. I know if I restart my phone, it fixes it. But I'm just curious as to what causes it.

When I lock my SGS II i would expect all the buttons to lock! However the power button function remain active and its far too easy to accidently power off my phone or set it into flight mode.Does anyone know how to disable this "feature" ??

A couple of days ago it started to turn the screen on by itself every time it timed out or I pressed the lock button... Unless it's plugged into a charger. I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling any recent apps I'd installed but to no avail. Is is firmware problem or hardware problem. I can't believe this is happening as i always keep my phone under good condition and its just 4 months old. Dissapointing purchase.
p.s. The screen can be turned on if u keep trying to press the home button. Usually 8-15 minutes after the phone screen is locked. Face palm much.Is there any temporary solution because i urgently need to use my phone!
Just discovered my home screen is blank, so I thought I had accidentally changed/moved it when I turned on "Easy Mode" to check that out. Switched back to "Standard Mode", but found my home screen gone, with a blank page in it's place. I found some directions on how to move pages around, making one a home screen. I selected the page I wanted as home screen and moved it to the page where the white house icon is highlighted. I was done but noticed nothing had changed. Home page still blank, so I did it again. I find that whenever I try creating my home screen page by moving it to the highlighted white house icon, the white house icon shifts to the left, remaining blank.

Look in device/system/usr/keylayout for generic.kl
Make a backup of this file before editing.
Open it in a text editor and look for lines "Key 158 BACK" and "Key 172 HOME"
Swap BACK and HOME then save and reboot.
Then open All in One Gestures and under hardware keys tab, swap function of home and back again.
Somewhere along the line the wake function is dropped. Everything else works as normal.
After updating to 4.3 my lockscreen wallpaper changed to the same as my home screen wallpaper. Okay, no bigge, I'll just change it back - or so I thought. There has to be a simple solution that doesn't involve changing the launcher or something similar, right?

Currently when I press the Power Button, the screen goes black. But it does not lock the screen.
I have the screen lock set to 30 seconds. But even so, there are lots of times when I have put the phone in my pocket and it accidentally it the home button before the 30 seconds is up and random apps get launched as my phone bounces around in my pocket.
So I would like to be able to press the power button and immediately have the screen lock. I was able to do this on my original Galaxy Nexus. But I cannot figure out how to do this on my Samsung.
I did some google searches and I found many many posts that said "go into settings, select lock screen, scroll to the very bottom and click the option to enable lock on power button."
The problem is, when I go into the Lock Screen settings and scroll down to the very bottom, I don't see any such option. So, how to enable the Power Button to immediately lock my phone?
Is it possible to deactivate the On/Off Button while the device is screen locked?
A User have a problem that he puts his Blackberry in his pockets and it could be that the on/off Button gets accidentally pushed for some seconds and the Blackberry turns itself off.
Now he wants to disable the button while in screen lock.
The screen lock button is VERY sensitive. I unlocks in my pocket and pocket dials or even turns off all connections.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy iPhone 4 has a blank screen and cannot be powered off using the normal (top) button. Pressing the home button has no effect, and the screen remains black. The phone is charged and can make calls normally using a bluetooth hands free kit in my car. Photos can be downloaded using Image Capture, and music and apps are visible in iTunes. iTunes tells me that the phone can't be restored until Find my iPhone is switched off in iOS iCloud settings - which can't be done as the screen is inaccessible!
