Fairly new to Android and coming from iPhone.
Just wondering if there's any way to have my incoming text messages preview on the lock and/or home screen (as done with the iPhone)?
I have a Htc one m8, I had too have a replacement phone sent to me my question is my missed calls and text messages preview does not show up on the lock the screen like my original one did I have all the settings checked the way they should be but still will not preview, what I may be missing or something else i need to do....
View 2 Replies View RelatedHTC ONE. With the Stock Messaging app on the phone, I like it and all but I have a small gripe about it. I don't get message previews on the lock screen when I get a message. Yes I know, maybe it's disabled to save on battery life, but battery life is not an issue for me on this phone. Anyways, the only way I can get a message preview on lock screen is if I use CHOMP SMS messaging app. I dont like it, I prefer the stock one, but I leave it on so that I can get previews on my lock screen. Any way to maybe Enable the feature so that I can see a preview of my text on the lock screen?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently made the switch back to android from an iPhone after quite a few years and I'm trying to re-familiarize myself with android's operating system and work out what I need to change and using this phone I noticed the notifications lacking, so I set up DashClock and DashNotifier and so far I love it. It does exactly what I want it to do for all the apps I have set up with it except for the notifications coming through the 'Messages' app on the phone for text messages.
When receiving a text message my lock screen ignores that I've set up DashClock as my default lock screen and pulls up the original lock screen with the quite ugly 'New Message' notification (as seen in the attached picture). If I scroll to the right DashClock is open and showing the message notification just fine. I've tried to disable the lock screen notifications for the 'Messages' app but haven't been successful in removing it. Is there a way to just have the 'Messages' app give lock screen notifications on the top bar and none like in the image below, or is there a work around within DashClock/DashNotifier or some other application that would fix this? My phone is running Android 4.4.2.
I want to be able to view my text messages in the lock screen, I do not have the option for preview message in the settings. Is it possible?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI see the option for locked messages on the drop down menu inside the messaging app, but for the life of me I do not understand how to actually LOCK a message. It's not really a big deal cause I wouldn't use that option much anyway, but it just irks me not knowing. I watched a tutorial on Youtube and the guy on the clip had different options than what my S5 has?

I like that the home button quickly turns the S5's screen on to the lock screen to check the time or for notifications, but unfortunately hitting the home button again doesn't turn the screen back off and I have to reach for the power button. Is there a way to change that?
View 21 Replies View Relatedmy phone is approx 2 years old and a few months ago developed a glitch in that it shows the number of the text messages I have, and the number is increasing despite the fact that I have deleted all texts from the phone. I noticed that when I switch the phone on after a period off, it adds new messages and shows them as "new" (with that sparkly sign at the corner of it). I wonder whether there is a way of deleting this misleading icon from the home-screen?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my iPhone, when I would receive a text message, my lock screen would show who the message was from but it wouldn't include a "preview" of what the message said. It just said Text Message and the persons name. Whenever I receive a text message on my Galaxy S6, is it not possible for the alert on my lock screen to just say "New Message" or just even the contact's name and no preview of the message?
Under Notifications settings --> Notifications on lock screen -- I have the option of Show Content or Do Not Show Notifications.
Shouldn't there be additional options of "turn preview off". Something to that effect? Same with my emails. I'd rather it just say who the email is from an not a snippit of the email contents. Is this possible for email and text messages?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I get a new text or email if I unlock my phone and touch the email or message app and read or delete it, it still shows the notification in the upper left. If I then lock my phone and unlock it again it still shows the notification on the lock screen. I have gone and cleared the cache and data from the message app and restarted. The only way it goes away is if I swipe it away on the lock screen or select it from the lock screen and view/delete after it opens.

I get the status "notification bar" (see attached screenshot), but I want the "card" (like the "New voice mail" card in the screenshot) to appear on my lock screen - I don't want to have to tap the "notification bar" for the rest of my notifications. Hopefully I'm just missing a setting, and this is not the expected behavior....
Here's what I've tried (and what my settings are):
1) Lock Screen/Screen Lock is set to swipe.
2) Sounds and Notification/While Locked is set to "Show All Content".
3) Applications/Messages/Notifications/Preview Message is checked.
4) Applications/ApplicationManager/Messages -> Show notifications is checked.
5) I have cleared the cache for Messages Application.
6) I have done a cache partition wipe.
I want to be able to leave my Wildfire S lying around the house without worrying about someone picking it up and reading my texts. I have set it up so I have to enter a password before doing anything. This is great except for one thing. When I get a text, the first few words are shown even before inputting the password. How can I stop this? I've tried all the settings in 'text settings' .

I can't find it anywhere! Also, when a text does come, the actual message quickly scrolls across the black bar at the top of the home screen..can I remove this? I would normally have the screen locked anyway but if i'd just used it and left it on the table for instance.

my old nokia n8, I could choose to receive notification that only showed the contacts name and let me know I had a message from them. Is this possible on the s6? I do not want the message preview on my screen so that everyone can see the message. I just want the contacts name only.
