Nokia :: ERROR IN SOFTWARE UPDATER 2.5.2(LATEST) For 5800
Jun 2, 2010I yesterday installed Nokia Software Updater 2.5.2 (LATEST) on my PC Running-
Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit build 7600
No ovi suite installed.
I had some problems in my new software V50 of Nokia 5800. I tried to reinstall the firmware but there is no option to reinstall as earlier versions of NSU had.
But in help file of that NSU(5.2.5) it is written that-:''After the phone has been detected and identified and the update information checked, Nokia Software Updater displays a summary on the PC screen. If you want to continue updating your phone software, click the Update button. It is also possible to reinstall the same software version that is already in the phone.Now what do I do as in my NSU there is no option to Reinstall?
Nokia :: 5800 XM - Error With Firmware Upgrade
Apr 30, 2010I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down.Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".

Feb 14, 2010Which is the latest available software version for Nokia 5800? The one which is in my phone is 30.0.011. However i tried to download OviMaps and it's saying that to install new maps the software version needs to be 31.0.008 or higher. I tried to update the firmware using software updater but it says that no new updates available. Which one to believe now? Product code is 0575590. Is there any new update available for this product code? If it is there how to update?

Jun 26, 2010I got the latest software (v50) for my phone and have had a few annoyances. Firstly my text when writing a text sometimes randomly starts deleting itself as though the delete has got a mind of its own and has locked or something, meaning I helplessly watch my text get deleted. Secondly, when browsing, occasionally if I bring up the back and option buttons (coming out of full screen mode) they just wont appear and I cannot do anything unless I close and reload the page. Thirdly when touching an icon, it may not realise for a while and I have to keep pressing it other times I accidently press something once and it opens it. The new features are great, but the problems are annoying and is it possible the sensitivity can still be increased as its almost perfect in terms of touch sensivity from a finger. I end up using my nail to help it along sometimes.

Jan 6, 2010Both PC Suite and Ovi were working perfectly until I updated my Ovi to the latest version early this week. Now, whenever I start Ovi, it will crash after 15-20sec if my 5800 is connected ( either bluetooth or USB ). If the phone is not connected, Ovi will stay without any issue. Btw, PC Suite is working fine. Here is the error message pop-up on the screen when Ovi crashed.
"Nokia Ovi Suite 2 has stopped working". A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". No solution is actually provided and the only option is to "Close program". Here is the windows error log :

This is what i did so far :
i) Uninstall Ovi , re-download from Nokia web, reinstall : Failed to fix
ii) Uninstall Ovi and all Nokia related software , clean Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite : Failed to fix
iii) Format and reinstall Windows 7 ( Yes, I did !!! ) , re-download and reinstall Ovi Suite : Failed to fix
I strongly believe this error is caused by the latest version of Ovi Suite, as i have another laptop which running with the older version of Ovi Suite works perfectly with my 5800. I have uninstall the Ovi Suite, I will only try it again when next release is available.

May 23, 2010Below is a relisting of a current problem I have not managed to fix.I have the latest firmware installed on my N97, but after the latest upgrade (clean install was done, mass mem refromatted, hard reset, etc') On checking over the phone I started getting messages that the Mass mem' was full (Not so) I eventually traced it to my 8 gig mem' card, (is coming up with the message that the memory card is corrupt, I have now tried 3 different mem' cards) cos after this was removed the phone worked perfectly again, I tried reformatting the card via the pc , same problem when the card was put back in, tried a brand new card , same problem, lastly tried a known working 4 gig mem' card, same problem?

May 21, 2010In general, I'm satisfied with my phone and I had no big problems except this one. The problem started a while ago. Sometimes, when someone is calling and I answer, there's no sound, I mean - they can hear me, but I can't hear them. If I try to call back, I still don't get any incoming sound. After I restart mobile phone or turn it offline and then back online, then everything is alright, at least for some time. The problem is definitely in my phone, not in others. This have occured when I have been called from different phones.This bug is unpredictable. I mean, it can happan like a several times a day or few times a month. Right now, it's happaning quite often .I have updated firmware and, I think, I have now latest firmware. What could be the problem? Can it be fix with some software or I have to take it back to the shop and ask them to change it?

I updated ovi suite to the latest version and went to the update page, this told me that the maps update was available. This I downloaded and installed, however when I ran maps booted up and then shut down again. After further investigation I found that the phone needed to be on v31. When I try to upgrade I`m told that I Have the latest version! I removed the Maps program thinking I would just reinstall Maps V2.0, but I can't find this anywhere. So now I`m stuck, I have no maps program, I can't find V2.0, and I`m wondering why I can't upgrade the phone software.

Mar 16, 2010Upgraded the phone software to V 40.0.005 (dated Dec 29, 2009) on my 5800xm, and now my maps are blank.When I click on the green compass I used to get a street level map, and after a while it would jump to my current position.I can still zoom etc, and it looks like it still gets a satellite fix (shows correct coordinates) but the maps seem to have gone.Just downloaded the Ovi maps anew from Nokia, and there is now a new menu structure, but still no maps.

Apr 9, 2010After 8 months it finally went I'm on Vodafone via a contract and I got this Nokia 5800 as an upgrade I love it great piece of kit Music Player is great. On thursday morning thou it went all pear shaped, as I was in a shop I could feel the phone pulsing via the vibration I recieved no call or text it was doing small pulses from the vibration feature.
I whiped it out and unlocked it but the screen stayed blank for about 1min then it finally came on and went back into key lock by its self???. I unlocked it again and the screen came on/off then finally on it had been doing it a few times in the past but not this bad.
I went to send a text and when I touched the screen to bring up the alpha keys it would not type anything it would show that I was hitting the keys but nothing was writing. I had to reboot the phone and it worked for 10mins, I took it into Vodafone and got it sent off to Nokia for repair I hope they repair it much better than what Sony Ericcson do last 2 phones from them have all failed to be fixed of there problems last 2yrs I had there mobiles. I went back to Nokia after 8yrs away because everyone now has a S.E, Samsung or iPhone.

Jun 10, 2010I upgraded my phone to V40.0.005 s/w recently. Now when I use the alarm on my phone I cannot use the "stop" or "snooze" buttons, I touch the options but nothing happens. If I click on the Red "end call" button then it seems to put it into Snooze and the alarm goes off again after ten minutes....

The only option I've got from now are "Shortcuts" (4 between applications and favourites) and "Contacts bar". I have tried with hard and soft resets, and it's equal. There is a little problem with the alarm too, but not important.

Apr 26, 2010My 5800 used to retain battery power for 3-4 days of normal usage until my upgrade to the latest firmware. Firstly the FOTA failed. After restart it popped a "System Error" after"installing..." The Music Player also screwed and used to continously show "Fixing Corrupted Library files..(something like that)". Then i used OVI suite to transfer music and it temporarily fixed the issue. But then i used the USB connection with Nokia Software Updater and reinstalled the firmware. all the problems were fixed. But i observed that the Battery life has now reduced to just about 18 hours!! I am not sure if its indeed the firmware but most likely so. I also did a soft reset without realising that i would lose all the smses and contact data Anway, main issue is batterypower consumption. The Nokia Energy Profiler shows a current consumption of about 170mA. It was same even before the soft reset.

If I try USB connection, the OS crashes while trying to install phone software (windows 7 pro, Dell Inspiron 6400). I have uninstalled and re-installed all nokia software on the PC and still got the same results. Even without PC suite, the phone does not connect through the PC bluetooth anymore.

Feb 20, 2010could someone please help me with this problem. I have just bought a nokia 5800 comes with music phone. When i run the disk everything installs untill i get to nokia music which fails due to this error :

I am hopeless with computers, but i know i have all the system requirements as iv had the full nokia package on this pc before when i had an n96, i then deleted it all when i changed phones.
