Apr 2, 2010Very latest software installed and since then no calender on home screen, unable to stop/snooze calender reminders unless I press the 'call hang up' button.

Mar 1, 2010Probably a silly question Anybody know how to set up this particular phone to show to do list / memo / meetings etc on the home screen? I forget to check my calender so if my to do list is on my home screen and in my face every time I pick up my phone, I think it might help me to remember things.

Jul 21, 2010If the day selected has entries when in calendar view, we have a list of them on the bottom of the screen. If you point at the entry sometimes a shortcut menu is opened sometimes we are directed to the entry view.

it's quite stupid NOKIA had separated between the two. there should be one business-like homescreen (with emails, tasks, search-bar and apps), and another more friendly with favourite contacts and apps.Cannot understand why nokia shoot it's own leg with these stupid desicions... hope it will be fixed in the next firmware update.

Apr 9, 2010After 8 months it finally went I'm on Vodafone via a contract and I got this Nokia 5800 as an upgrade I love it great piece of kit Music Player is great. On thursday morning thou it went all pear shaped, as I was in a shop I could feel the phone pulsing via the vibration I recieved no call or text it was doing small pulses from the vibration feature.
I whiped it out and unlocked it but the screen stayed blank for about 1min then it finally came on and went back into key lock by its self???. I unlocked it again and the screen came on/off then finally on it had been doing it a few times in the past but not this bad.
I went to send a text and when I touched the screen to bring up the alpha keys it would not type anything it would show that I was hitting the keys but nothing was writing. I had to reboot the phone and it worked for 10mins, I took it into Vodafone and got it sent off to Nokia for repair I hope they repair it much better than what Sony Ericcson do last 2 phones from them have all failed to be fixed of there problems last 2yrs I had there mobiles. I went back to Nokia after 8yrs away because everyone now has a S.E, Samsung or iPhone.

May 19, 2010I have an nokia 5800 and lately i have been very dissapointed with the lack of social integration on the home screen. I have seen many phones with facebook, twitter and so on that updates automaticlly on the home screen. I think that this phone would be alot better with it, and i am sure im not alone that thinks so.

May 23, 2012I have a problem with text boxes at the home-screen bottom about new messages and missed calls. Those notifications are not showing any more. I guess it happened since I installed BestBlacklist free applications from ovi site. Then I uninstalled that application and even restored factory settings, but notifications didn't come back. At the same time notification lights and logs working OK. How can I make those home screen notifications back?

Nokia :: 5800 Camera Doesn't Work / Key Dialer / Contacts Icon On Home Screen Don't Work
Mar 22, 2010Problem 1:
The camera doesn't work. I open the camera application with both methods (button on side and icon in apps) but it does the red dot thing in the corner for about 4-6 seconds then disappears and applications tells me the app is running. I try to go to the app but it wont go on it.
Problem 2:
The green key, dialler and contacts icon on the home screen do not work at all. I have no way of opening my dialler as there is no option for it.
I updated my firmware to v40.0.005 last week. Please be aware the problems were both there BEFORE i made the update and are still here after the update.Is there any way of doing this without soft/hard resetting. Also, does soft/hard reset mean you lose the data in an app (eg your high scores in a game like bagatelle)?

I updated ovi suite to the latest version and went to the update page, this told me that the maps update was available. This I downloaded and installed, however when I ran maps booted up and then shut down again. After further investigation I found that the phone needed to be on v31. When I try to upgrade I`m told that I Have the latest version! I removed the Maps program thinking I would just reinstall Maps V2.0, but I can't find this anywhere. So now I`m stuck, I have no maps program, I can't find V2.0, and I`m wondering why I can't upgrade the phone software.

Mar 16, 2010Upgraded the phone software to V 40.0.005 (dated Dec 29, 2009) on my 5800xm, and now my maps are blank.When I click on the green compass I used to get a street level map, and after a while it would jump to my current position.I can still zoom etc, and it looks like it still gets a satellite fix (shows correct coordinates) but the maps seem to have gone.Just downloaded the Ovi maps anew from Nokia, and there is now a new menu structure, but still no maps.

Radio plays fine. but when I keep switching the different saved stations, at one point it just HANGS. Apr 30, 2010I upgraded my firmware to V 50.0.005, cause that's what Ovi store told me to do in order to download ovi maps. However, now, when I open my internet browser it automatically opens full screen which is really not my preference. But when I click "options" it just shuts down.Also when I enter Ovi store now, at first it seems fine but after loading an app page it crashes saying no more than "Something went wrong".
