this is prakash i have been using nokia The phone is working is well as basic phone but the follwing is worrying me they are
1. Absence of Screen saver option
2. Absence of group image in contact group
3.Absence of document viewer (even though we are installed third party apps it is not working as inbuilt apps)
* 4. Unable to add more shortcut on the home screen.Shall i hope that the nokia will release its firmware update for 5230
I have just started to see this problem, it has worked ok since I had the phone. Basically I am unable to add any shortcut to the Orange homescreen, I understand you can only have 4 and have removed all existing shortcuts to make sure, I can drag applications onto the homescreen but when i tap on the 'add shortcut' icon nothing happens, I have tried a soft reset & this did not work either, I am reluctant to do a hard reset because I don't want to have to re-install/configure everything again.

It has proved impossible to access the maps and despite e.mails and phone calls to Nokia, Carphone Warehouse, and Talk Mobile, no one is able to resolve this problem, or reply to e.mails.I have also spent nearly four hours, in two visits to a branch of Carphone Warehouse, and despite the best efforts of the staff, no one can come up with a solution. Every time I try to connect, I receive " connection failed, please try later," no maps, nothing but empty screens.It would appear that it is impossible for this phone to achieve "what it says on the box."

I encoded several shorter music videos with exactly the same settings, and they play perfectly on the phone. I did the encoding using Handbrake. My phone plays only the sound, after giving this error message:"Unable to play either sound or video clip. Ever since I updated my Nokia 5230 software from version 10.xxx to 12.xxx to 20.xxx and yesterday to 21.xxx, I'm have not been able to install any sis/sisx theme onto my mobile and have also checked the application installation settings. Its goes through the entire installation and finally reads "No Access Unable to Install" finally when i remove the memory card and put it onto my frnd's Nokia E71 / 72 and install it to the memory it goes through and i'm able to use the theme. I've downloaded these themes from non-Nokia sources but expect support as both my frnd and me updated software yesterday to 21.xxxx for my 5230 and 31.xxx for his E72. He able to install themes but i'm not. Enclosed is the snap shot of the same. Couldn't get better than this Pls help expecting and early reply
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem when trying to update my Nokia 5230 using the Nokia Suite.Please note; my phone is plugged in, there is an update for my phone as the last time it was updated was when it made manufactured (nov 09). The USB mode is on 'PC suite'. I have downloaded all the latest versions of the Nokia Suite.
When I click 'Update Phone Software", it takes me to the updater. When it comes to the 'Searching for a connected device', it hands for about 1-2 minutes, then says "Unable to find device".
I am unable to use Ovi suite as my nokia 5230 won't be recognised.I have deleted the Ovi suite twice and have even tried it on my other computer and it is still not being recognised.I have a new nokia data cable CA-101, but as soon as I connect it I get USB device not recognised.

My phone is completely working and a SIM card is inserted in it and I can call with it, but when I want to install the update then it says that there is no SIM card. I have tried ejecting the SIM card and inserting it again but it didn't work. Do you know anything that would help?And also somewhy I'm unable to install anything into the phone by USB cable.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI had pictures on my motorola phone and transferred them by blue tooth to my nokia 5230, as i don't have USB cable for the motorola phone to move them to my computer while i do have it for the nokia (my computer has no blue tooth capabilities). And strange the pictures get always put by default in the inbox of my nokia and when i connect the nokia 5230 to my computer through the USB cable, the wizard that opens to move files between the phone and computer, doesn't move or synchronize those pictures, it moves all the files in my inbox except those pictures and when i try to explore the files content of the nokia phone on my computer by exploring my mobile phone drive which shows 2 drives, one for the phone memory card and one for the phone SIM card, I can see all files on my phone SIM or memory card except those pictures. I can never email or text those pictures direct from the phone as the phone doesn't at all provide any option to do that and doesn't allow to move the pictures to any other folder on my phone except to My Folders which acts the same like inbox of not allowing any option to move them out of there through USB or email or text. The only way to do it is to move them one by one to my gallery which allows all files stored in it to get synchronized with my computer, the only problem with this method is I have 1000 pictures and moving them individually would take days. Any help how to move those pictures to my computer in one shot?

The performance is better than before, but I encountered a problem that really annoying me.I love listening to music. It's everything for me. But now the music player can't detect new music files, even it's imported from a blue tooth connection. After I save it from the inbox, sometimes it said "General : System Error". The files is inside the memory card, but can't be detected by the music player although I refresh the music library. The same thing happened when I import some music files from the computer using Nokia PC Suite. In the library, there is the artist's name or the album's name, but after I clicked it, there isn't any music files inside. What happened actually with the music player?About the memory card, I got it from the phone package. It's 2 GB, and still has approx. 130 MB free. Is it the memory card or the update?

If at all, one doesn't assign a shortcut to it, still there's an icon that is shown as default when nothing is assigned.Here's what you do...1. Download the app called vacuum.sis from the web. Try this link...www.mediafire.com/?a01dw4w4azasjmn2. Install the app anywhere in your phone, phone memory, mass memory or memory card.3. Now go to homescreen and press and hold to go into edit mode.4. Tap the desired location for adding the shortcut bar and select it from the list of widgets available.5. Now if you want to add only one app in the shortcut bar, select the desired location from one to four and add the app. In the rest of the locations, add the vacuum app.7.

I am facing 2 problems in 5230 1. not able to create new profile, when clicking the "create new" option it is showing the existing profiles only. 2. E-mail notification option not showing under settings > personal > homescreen this all happend after I have restore my phone to factory settings.

The problem is whenever I select option Refresh Library, the device is unable to load new music files which I have transferred to memory card using PC suite. Music player is unable to load music files which are stored in memory card. I even updated the phone software but unable to solve this problem, but other files such as videos and images. I am able to see in gallery. Only problem is with the music files.....

I have a problem in setting ring tone and message tone.When i trying to set ringing tone or message alert tone in the Profiles(General) it showing an error message as "Not enough memory to show all ringing tones. only tones in read only memory will be displayed". View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my new Nokia E72, happy with it overall, just a couple of niggles (apart from the build quality), which I'd like to check with more owners of this phone. When I press the EMail shortcut key, on the top right side of the keypad, this shortcut doesn't open the general EMail "folder" where I can see my GMail, Yahoo!, and Hotmail email accounts, instead it opens my Yahoo! email account directly, and I have to go back to the general "folder" to see my other email accounts.
I've tried playing with all the different options, but so far cannot make it work as I think it should be, which would be to go to the main EMail "folder", so I can choose which EMail account I want to open/synchronise, and not just opening the first EMail account I set up. Also, is not downloading the "Sent Items" folder, even though I chose "All" in What to download.
Is there any link on help for bottom short cut bar for xterm? What is the first key that is pointer arrow mark? I also tried set -o vi and tried to use j, k to move up and down and it did not work. I never worked with this shell though.

Currently I have one for the messaging application, but that requires me to click "down" (to select Inbox) and then "open".I've searched around a bit and it doesn't seem possible - you can only define shortcuts for applications. But wouldn't it be possible to make an app that opens the inbox and point a shortcut to it? If such an application for S60 exists, I would appreciate if someone could link to it.Yeah, I know it's just two extra clicks the current way, but it's these kind of small things I find annoying with my new Nokia phone (a 6730 classic) - "with so many options, why can't I configure something this basic?". View 5 Replies View RelatedI have am x6, and in the main am happy with it. However as previous owner of 3 diff n series, there are a couple of usability issues that drive me up the wall! For instance, i came to rely on the 'menu plus c' shortcut to quickly close apps. But no matter where i look, i haven't found a similar shortcut on the x6. Which means closing apps can only be done by going back in and doing it manually from within the app. Annoying and slow Is it me, or has that kind of shortcut been removed? Can anyone help? This may sound petty but virgin has hijacked my right shortcut key so in the phone settings under shortcuts only the left shortcut key is displayed and not the right shortcut key. and on the display just above the right shortcut key is virgin. pressing the right shortcut key takes me to a virgin media site . how can i free up the key to put a preferred shortcut in or is it hardwired at the factory??
