Nokia 5230 :: Download Into PC To Install On Phone?
Mar 31, 2010Recently got a 5230. Just wondering if there's another way of downloading Apps from http://store.ovi.com/ and installing it. From what I can see on the Ovi Store, you can download it by the "Send to mobile" button.Is there a way to download it into PC first and install from PC into the phone? Just wanted to avoid any data charges if I go and download directly from the phone.

Jun 15, 2011I've had the phone since January and I have had no problems. Recently I went to install some new apps. Everything appears normal except it does not ask me where I want to install the app. Instead it just stops the whole process and does nothing. I have plenty of memory. I did a Soft reset I believe going to settings>phone>phone management > factory settings... I used the code 12345. That did not solve the problem. I tried doing a hard reset using #7370# but the phone kept responding with "request not complete".

Jul 15, 2010Ever since I updated my Nokia 5230 software from version 10.xxx to 12.xxx to 20.xxx and yesterday to 21.xxx, I'm have not been able to install any sis/sisx theme onto my mobile and have also checked the application installation settings. Its goes through the entire installation and finally reads "No Access Unable to Install" finally when i remove the memory card and put it onto my frnd's Nokia E71 / 72 and install it to the memory it goes through and i'm able to use the theme. I've downloaded these themes from non-Nokia sources but expect support as both my frnd and me updated software yesterday to 21.xxxx for my 5230 and 31.xxx for his E72. He able to install themes but i'm not. Enclosed is the snap shot of the same. Couldn't get better than this Pls help expecting and early reply

Jun 13, 2010I just downloaded and started using Ovi Suite. My Nokia 5230 is running old software so I wanted to update it. My phone is completely working and a SIM card is inserted in it and I can call with it, but when I want to install the update then it says that there is no SIM card. I have tried ejecting the SIM card and inserting it again but it didn't work. Do you know anything that would help?And also somewhy I'm unable to install anything into the phone by USB cable.

May 20, 2010I'm having a problem when trying to update my Nokia 5230 using the Nokia Suite.Please note; my phone is plugged in, there is an update for my phone as the last time it was updated was when it made manufactured (nov 09). The USB mode is on 'PC suite'. I have downloaded all the latest versions of the Nokia Suite.
When I click 'Update Phone Software", it takes me to the updater. When it comes to the 'Searching for a connected device', it hands for about 1-2 minutes, then says "Unable to find device".

I wrote a small HelloWRT app (the one from Nokia Library) using Aptana, I copy it on the microSD card using the supplied data cable. They answered that the last version of Garmin Mobile is v5.00.60 and in theory it should almost certain work with S60v5 operating system (the version v5.00.50 should too), but the product is discontinued so they are not 100% sure. Tried countless times to open Nokia Ovi store however a "required update" is necessary. Clicked to update to 3.22.054, downloaded 4.54mb fine then installing, then "required update failed". Retry failed each time too. Tried to uninstall via application manager but it self cancelled before installing. Tried turning phone on and off to reset with 3 vibrations and still no joy.
Also Google maps app wont install so i suspect it may be install related rather than app related.
Got 72.3Mb free c memory and 4Gb's free mass memory.

But i have a problem with it ..... the problem that when i download any thing from nokia OVI Store from my mobile like: Games, apps and videos when download finished and starting to install the games or the apps it's say's: "installation failed" and when i redownload it again nothing change and keep saying "installation failed" ........ and i noted that when i install app ( themes, apps and games ) on my mobile by ovi suite or by file manager it also say's to me "Expired Certificat" even if i signed this apps but it alwyas say's "Expired Certificat"....... for this problem i did: hard reset - format my mobile - format my sd card - update my mobile to v40 - but the problem never stops to return in a few hours ..... then i find out that when i need to install any app on my mobile (by ovi suite or ovi store in my mobile or file manager) i have to switch off the mobile and turn it on again to install what ever i want ...... so Plz help me out

Jun 8, 2010I have a Nokia 5230 which I have made sure has the latest firmware, downloaded Ovi Suite, installed the latest free version of Ovi maps. Now I connect to my PC and go to maps on Ovi suite and it won't let me doownload any maps, what am I doing wrong? I have tried deleting the cities folder and the other file on the handset first and then retrying etc but nothing seems to work.
