I just upgraded my 5230 phone software and can no longer connect to the maps in ovi suite on my pc. I just get the error message that my internet isn't working, which isn't the case.I've rebooted my pc, and restarted the phone, same problem. I can access ovi maps on the phone but just can't get it to connect with my pc.can anyone help?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new and I have troubles with my new nokia. I haven't found a solution yet. I have a micro usb-cable with the label "AC 108" "CA 101" from a local handy-dealer. When I connect the phone via "PC Suite Mode" to my pc (windows xp sp2) neither OVI suite nor pc suite recognize the phone correctly. After a few minutes both applications fail and ask me to repeat the steps. I get the error message: pc suite does not recognize the connected phone. The connection between the pc and the phone failed, error code 0x80044403. I switch off phone, switch it on, and try again.
However the phone is recognized by windows correctly. I get a popup with choices to open the phone from "windows portable device". The phone is in the hardwaremanager under "portable devices", "modems" and "wireless communication devices". I have tried to deinstal the software, i tried the nokia pc suite cleaner and i tried the different usb-modes of the phone. when i choose "mediatransfer" the phone is recognized by ovi suite but it says to use the pc-suite mode instead.
When I plug the cable in my phone and notebook, the phone asks me to select the connection type. I select PC Suite. I have downloaded the latest version, but PC Suite does not connect with my phone. I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2I don't have a clue about the cable type, but it fits. There is no SD card in it

However when I go to Ovi maps on my phone it always says connection failed, if I try to go to my location I get the red dot flashing searching for position then will go solid for a short while and start to flash again, it gives my location about 1 mile from where I am. Also from the OVI maps screen if I try to sign into my Nokia accost,(To get A-GPS I think) I get the message saying this requires you to go online, 'yes' brings up the connection failed message. I can browse the internet and go to face book etc.

If I launch Ovi Suite (v3.1.1.90) and go to Maps section, screen "Connecting to the map service..." is displayed, but after while: "Couldn't connect to the service - There seems to be a problem with connecting to the online map service. If the problem doesn't go away, please try again later.".
I'm connected over WiFi and all is working normally. I tried connection over USB cable and bluetooth as well, restart computer and phone, reinstall Ovi Suite, format memory card, reinstall device software, reset to factory settings, full reset to initial state (*#7370#) but it wasn't worked.

If I launch maps in my phone and go to Update, there is option "Add new maps", after select appropriate map and click on Download is progress bar "Installing, please wait!" displayed, but process ends with error message "Map download failed!".

In order to get this free car navigation I followed the Nokia instructions on the internetpage and installed Ovi maps (Version 3.03 (246)) which is now in "D Telephone memory" using 7 MB there.(That is the information shown when I look into the details of my installed programms.I then loaded the necessary maps and the voice file with Nokia Map Loader from my computer into my micro SD card (E) . Navigation is working extremely well! But: What is "D Telephone Memory"? According to the filemanager of my phone no D exists! More important: May I safely deinstall the preinstalled Nokia maps now that I have Ovi maps installed? phone is set to german and the designations above are translations into english and may not correspond exactly to the english designations of Nokia phones set to english.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOvi Suite displays the album art straight from the Music folder created by Windows Media Player when the CD is ripped. The album art is a hidden jpg file (well 4 actually) and a desktop.ini file that says what to do with them. There are NO properties on the mp3 files that say what the album art is.I manually copied my mp3 files to the phone (as I resampled them at a lower bitrate) and copied the album art across manually but it does not show up.Does anyone know if you use Ovi suite to sync the music does it copy the album art across as well?

Ovie suite finds it in its search for devices, but when it asks me to put the random code into my phone, nothing comes up on my phone and within a second or two ovi-suite tells me pairing has failed. My bluetooth is definately on and visible to all and the ovi suite is the latest version (and my phone is definately on the list as compatible) All software is updated on my phone as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Maps Updater you can or could select all the countries & provinces you wanted then start the download and come back later when it had finished. Using Maps in OVI Suite, you have to select and download each item one-by-one. I download a couple of entire countries plus about 8 individual French provinces. It's a real pain to have to keep coming back to see if one item has finished so you can select the next, especially since after each French province finishes the selection always jumps back to 'Albania' and I have to navigate back to France again. Sorry, even if you are on commission from the Albanian tourist authority, I have no plans to visit Albania for the time being!
Seriously though, is it so hard to retain the tick boxes to select all the maps and voices you want before you kick of the downloads, so you don't have to spend an hour watching progress bar and can do something more useful with your time? I just find the functional redesign baffling. Next time I'll go back to using Maps Updater, and hope this isn't going to be entirely superseded by OVI Suite, at least until it has the multiple-choice tick-boxes!
I have no problems with using the 5230 as a tethered device when connected with USB using Ovi Suite. However, when trying the same when the 5230 is connected via bluetooth Ovi Suite tells me that the "device is not connected" (or similar). It is connected - I can transfer photos, read SMS, send SMS, install apps etc etc under bluetooth. It just won't allow me to use it as a modem. I appreciate that using bluetooth to tether is not ideal, but there are sometimes when I am out and about with my netbook where I might not have the USB cable around.

With this it is possible to synchronize messages, music and pictures. a) is there a way to turn off or, better, totally eliminate the idiotic T-Mobile jingle when the phone is turned on, and off? At the very least, can I somehow kill the sound of this horrible commercial?
b) in the OVI maps manual it says the following on how to save a place:
Save a place
1 In the map view, go to the location. To search for an address or place, select Search.
2 Press the scroll key.
My N5230 does not have a scroll key. What can I do?
c) still in Ovi Maps; I noticed that when I search for a place, it is a good idea to repeat the exact same search at least three times. Ovi Maps often finds nothing on the first or second try, but does find it on the third. Why is that?
d) again in Ovi Maps: when I am in the 'drive' mode and I have entered to point to drive to, I noticed that when a swipe my finger from right to left I get a 4 different kind of map views. Where can I find details about these views? (they are not documented in the manual I have)
e) last Ovi question: what is the best way to create a route and then look at it in a way similar to what GoogleMaps offers: a map covering start and finish, with the basic data (time, distance, etc.). I have not found a good way to create a route.
Why the maps available through Nokia Ovi suite are outdated? I have downloaded map for Finland and it's very old. You have fresh version, why that version ain't available for download.

i recently got a nokia 5230, and i have to give my colpliments to nokia. its an amazing device for the money
but, i have a problem. i used the vodafone sim card i have for the maps, and after some help from the store, i hav managed to get them working. they are fantastic.but here lies the problem: if i use my o2 sim, the maps application refuses to connect, stating a connection failure. however, the web browser works fine.are there any particular setting that i need to make to make the maps app connect when i am using the o2 sim?
I have a Nokia 5230 which I have made sure has the latest firmware, downloaded Ovi Suite, installed the latest free version of Ovi maps. Now I connect to my PC and go to maps on Ovi suite and it won't let me doownload any maps, what am I doing wrong? I have tried deleting the cities folder and the other file on the handset first and then retrying etc but nothing seems to work.
