Nokia :: 5230 - Using Bluetooth To Tether Via Ovi Suite
Jun 15, 2010
I have no problems with using the 5230 as a tethered device when connected with USB using Ovi Suite. However, when trying the same when the 5230 is connected via bluetooth Ovi Suite tells me that the "device is not connected" (or similar). It is connected - I can transfer photos, read SMS, send SMS, install apps etc etc under bluetooth. It just won't allow me to use it as a modem. I appreciate that using bluetooth to tether is not ideal, but there are sometimes when I am out and about with my netbook where I might not have the USB cable around.
I have recently bought a 5230 and cannot connect it with PC suite. I am using the cable connection as my p does not have a Bluetooth, but it has infra red which the phone does not.
Ovi Suite displays the album art straight from the Music folder created by Windows Media Player when the CD is ripped. The album art is a hidden jpg file (well 4 actually) and a desktop.ini file that says what to do with them. There are NO properties on the mp3 files that say what the album art is.I manually copied my mp3 files to the phone (as I resampled them at a lower bitrate) and copied the album art across manually but it does not show up.Does anyone know if you use Ovi suite to sync the music does it copy the album art across as well?
My new nokia 5230 will not pair with ovi-suite. Ovie suite finds it in its search for devices, but when it asks me to put the random code into my phone, nothing comes up on my phone and within a second or two ovi-suite tells me pairing has failed. My bluetooth is definately on and visible to all and the ovi suite is the latest version (and my phone is definately on the list as compatible) All software is updated on my phone as well.
I'm new and I have troubles with my new nokia. I haven't found a solution yet. I have a micro usb-cable with the label "AC 108" "CA 101" from a local handy-dealer. When I connect the phone via "PC Suite Mode" to my pc (windows xp sp2) neither OVI suite nor pc suite recognize the phone correctly. After a few minutes both applications fail and ask me to repeat the steps. I get the error message: pc suite does not recognize the connected phone. The connection between the pc and the phone failed, error code 0x80044403. I switch off phone, switch it on, and try again.
However the phone is recognized by windows correctly. I get a popup with choices to open the phone from "windows portable device". The phone is in the hardwaremanager under "portable devices", "modems" and "wireless communication devices". I have tried to deinstal the software, i tried the nokia pc suite cleaner and i tried the different usb-modes of the phone. when i choose "mediatransfer" the phone is recognized by ovi suite but it says to use the pc-suite mode instead.
I had been using Ovi Suite to sync my PC and 5230 and was having no trouble. But I tried connecting today (almost afetr a month's gap) and now the Ovi suite doesn't recognize my mobile. My PC is able to recognize the device but Ovi doesn't. And I've updated the Ovi suite too. Please help...
I have a Nokia 5230 with software version 20.0.005 and I am running Nokia Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 on Vista 64 bit.I connect either by bluetooth or USB. With this it is possible to synchronize messages, music and pictures. However, when synchronizing the calender or contacts with bluetooth Ovi Suite simply crashes. When synchronizing with the USB cable it gives either the message: "Sync Canceled Could not sync contacts. Reconnect the USB cable to your device or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again. Error code: 80043c93" When synchronizing the calender it gives the message: "Sync Canceled Could not sync calender items and tasks. Reconnect the USB cable to your device or connect via Bluetooth. Then sync again."I have configered Ovi Suite to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook.Do you have any solution to this problem.
I just upgraded my 5230 phone software and can no longer connect to the maps in ovi suite on my pc. I just get the error message that my internet isn't working, which isn't the case.I've rebooted my pc, and restarted the phone, same problem. I can access ovi maps on the phone but just can't get it to connect with my pc.can anyone help?
When I plug the cable in my phone and notebook, the phone asks me to select the connection type. I select PC Suite. I have downloaded the latest version, but PC Suite does not connect with my phone. I use Windows XP Home Edition SP2I don't have a clue about the cable type, but it fits. There is no SD card in it
I am unable to use Ovi suite as my nokia 5230 won't be recognised.I have deleted the Ovi suite twice and have even tried it on my other computer and it is still not being recognised.I have a new nokia data cable CA-101, but as soon as I connect it I get USB device not recognised.
I have a T-mobile Nokia 5230 (Nuron) and i'm having a hard time getting the music player to play while the phone is connected to PC Suite. *If not with original applications/software, is there a different music player that plays while connected to PC Suite? I do not want to hack my phone & I will just have to suffer if Ovi Suite is my only option.
I TRIED updating my nokia 5230 by using OVI suite and during update my nokia 5230 suddenly turned off and updating stopped. I disconnected usb cable and tried to turn on the set but it wont turn on. I tried to recharge it and restart it but it also didnt work. Now its still off and I don`t know what to do anymore.
Has anyone had difficulties or successes with Bluetooth tethering their RAZR or MAXX to a Xoom or other Android tablet? I have been unable to get mine to connect with each other. They recognize each other immediately, pair without issue but just won't connect.
If you've been successful in connecting them, how have you made it happen? Any difficulties or tricks you used to get them to connect?
I use to be able to use bluetooth to access the internet over the cell network on the xoom with my old Droid X.I am also able to do this with my wife's Droid 2.On the Bionic I am not able to get it to work.Is this being blocked?I have wifi off on the xoom and Bionic like I have to do with the other phones, but I never get the bluetooth internet connection.I am connect to the Bionic via bluetooth but it never establishes the internet connection.
I installed ovi-suite on my windows XP laptop and tried to connect my X6 using bluetooth. I was able to punch in passcode on my X6. Then ovi suite simply won't continue recognizing my x6. I do see my laptop been paired in my X6, but ovi-suite simply won't continue to next step. After a while of "searching" ovi suite simply shows an error and the process continues. So how do I connect x6 to my PC with bluetooth?
I use the phone with a MAC via Bluetooth and on my work with a Windows XP and PC Suite connected to Outlook 2007. It synchronizes wel,l everything comes in via the XP. But only once a day? A second sync says phone is not idle. Even if I force it. Strange enough the phone is always connected via Bluetooth and if I get a call I can see it on my XP. So bluetooth connection works well. But whatever I try I can only sync once.On the MAC it always works so it's not the phone I think. For the rest I have no issues with the E72 at all. Only GPS without data connection doesn't work. I have seen other remarks on this so I guess can't use it without a data subscription.
My wife has just got a new 5230, and we have come across a couple of issues which I wondered if anyone had answers to.First, when opening the "dialer" option during a call (so you can respond to "press 1 for....." questions), the "keypad" does not display the letters associated with each number (i.e. "ABC" on key 2, etc.). Is there any way of modifying settings to show the letters as well?Second, when using the phone in our new Fiesta, the phone book is displayed in the car as "last name, first name". The phone displays as "first name, last name" which is what we want. Using my phone in the same car (Nokia 3109), the car displays "first name, last name". I've got round the problem by putting each of the phone book entries into the Last name field only, but this obviously isn't ideal. Again, any ideas? I asked this question to the Nokia help desk, and got a generic "this is how you connect to the car using blue tooth" answer, which was no help at all!
Since the update, the bluetooth tether connection seems to stagnate after inactivity and will no longer be usable. I have atempted to repair, disconnect, etc. in other words I have tried everything to reconnect after the connection to my phone stops working.
I bought a bluetooth connector and PC Suite works for everything on my 5230 except the music player doesn't see my phone as it says I need a cable. Can you only use a cable to transfer music and not bluetooth?
Since I've had success on my last query I have another now. I have a Vodafone VBH-600, aka 6xx plantronics bluetooth headset and I cannot get it to pair with the 5230-"device not found" is all I get. Is it not compatible or like last problem is there just a simple solution?
I am unable to connect my laptop and my phone (5800 XpressMusic) through Bluetooth. When I run 'Nokia PC suite', it detects the phone, it also asks for the pairing code and then I get a message (on my laptop) - "Cannot authenticate the phone".
I want to connect my Nokia 3710 fold to the Nokia Ovi Suite. But when I try I get this. Is there a driver I need to download. If there is where can I get it from?
I'm trying to use my phone using a car-kit CK3100. Devices are recognizing each other but the problem is that cannot stay connected more than 5-6 seconds. After connection they are disconnecting and so on. What can be the problem? Did somebody else experience a similar problem?
I am having problems syncing a Nokia E71 with a PC running Vista. The two sync just fine via USB cable. And I appear to have successfully paired them via Bluetooth. However, when I try to sync over Bluetooth, I get - two requests on the E71 to accept a connection from the PC - both of which I accept - a long wait - around 2-3 minutes - another request on the E71 to accept a connection from the PC, which I also accept - another 1-2 minute wait - a message appearing on the PC saying "The connection between the PC and the phone failed, error code 0x80044403.I can get both the PC and the E71 to transfer files with other devices over Bluetooth. And I can see the E71 as a Bluetooth device from Windows Explorer on the PC. Though when I double-click on it, I can't browse the content. The PC is running Vista Service Pack 1.The Bluetooth hardware is an HP integrated modeul with Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless, manufactured by Broadcom. The Driver date is 19/06/2007 and the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. The E71 is running the -400 firmware, freshly updated.
When updating my E63 contacts, calendar etc. uUsing PC-Suite via Bluetooth, every update asks the phone "Accept connection request from PC?" This doesn't occur when using a cable connection but is a real nuisance when using Bluetooth. Any way of automatically accepting the connection request?
I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)
Can i tranfer data from PC suite to OVI Suite - I need transfer all data from Nokia 6230i to new Nokia 6303 classic, or how to do it?. N 6230i is not connectable to OVI suite!
