On occasion, when I hold my Xoom so that it is tilted backwards (i.e. I'm lying down and the Xoom is held in front of me slightly tiled back) the screen becomes totally unresponsive to taps. If I tilt the screen forward and retap it seems to work fine or if I press the standby/power button on and off it seems to reset and work fine. This happens about 25% of the time and once it starts it continues until I reboot.
Why do I always look forward to getting the latest and greatest update to my phone? When I had my MyTouch 2.1, Eclair trashed it. My wifes MyTouch Slide was trash with 2.2. Now the Defy. Ever since getting 2.2, it has been slow, unresponsive, random turn offs.
I bought the device few days ago and on very same day updated to Android ver. 3.2. I use internet over my home Wifi and have a Netgear - WGR614 router. The browsing speed is very very slow and most sites dont open. The signal strength shown in xoom is - (-105 dBm 3 asu).Is this a issue with Android 3.2 update or my home wifi is weak? Would i be able to reset the tab to the original version?
So I am a total noob here, I purchased my XOOM 3 days ago and already I am totally frustrated and annoyed with Motorola and there customer service, or the lack there of. It's beyond me how a 6Sigma company who holds their suppliers to such strict standards can have so little regard for their customers and their level of satisfaction. With that off my chest, I wonder if any of you bright individuals can help me out. As I said I purchased my Xoom 3 days ago and after unpacking it I wanted to put my SD card in to retrieve some pictures and other files from my old tablet. I found the slot and removed the plastic piece and saw there was something written in it. It said "Replace with Micro SD only after Android system update". I thought that was odd but went ahead and started the update to 3.1. Well it has been downloading ever since and is now at a whopping 3%.
My Wi-Fi connection appears good and fast, I can download apps from the market in seconds and the web is quick.I started a service call regarding this; you can probably guess how that is going, even though they say, once you jump through all the hoops, that you will receive a reply within one business day. Apparently I am unfamiliar with what constitutes a 'business day'.
I have just updated to 3.1 and my tablet has now slowed right down. It now takes time for the tablet to realise I am trying to switch screen if I try and swipe between home screens, but the graphics are faster than previously which is odd. The major problem for me is that typing has slowed down and become less responsive. I just tried to buy an app from the Android market, and it couldn't keep up with me putting my card number in. I then tried to type in other applications to see if it was just typing generally that was causing the problem which it is. Restart did not fix it either. This effectively makes the tablet unusable for me as the typing speed is unreasonably slow.
I have the Motorola Bluetooth keyboard and there seen to be a delay in the typing showing on the screen. mainly while in the browser. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a simple fix? Am I missing something? I do not remember this with 3.0.1 but I am not sure.
My iPhone 3gs has become slow and sometimes unresponsive. There are boxes around the areas I press and when the phone turns on there's a box around the time at the top of the screen. When I press on the "slide to unlock" area a box appears around the banner holding the slide bar, the bar will slide along slowly and then once the keys for entering the password comes up boxes appear around the keys I press but the numbers won't enter into the password so I am unable to lock my phone. I am not quite sure what to do, I have seeked answers online but cannot find any.
I have this weird thing going on with my Atrix. I've had it for about six months and it was fine until now. What happens is that the touchscreen stops responding after it is turned off (pressing the power button) and back on. I can't unlock the phone, but the volume buttons are still responsive and I can still turn off the screen. If i reboot it (by removing the battery), it boots up just fine, with the screen working perfectly. It'll sometimes stop working when ending a call. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen everytime I turn off the screen, and when it happens, if I turn it off and back on it sometimes starts working again. It also seems to happen more frequently when the battery is low.
Can apple do anything to fix my home button? Am not expecting a new phone or anything as mine is out of warranty but I need some aid in knowing what to do to help fix the home button on my current iPhone 4 16gb
My screen becomes unresponsive at times even when I am not running anything, then I have to press the screen lock switch to get it back running. I tried factory reset and do not run any task killer apps, I have faced this issue with both Eclair and Froyo.
Since upgrading to the latest firmware version, I have experienced a number of issues. Before I begin, I will say that the phone has never been tampered with, and I have only used stock ROMS. A portion of the screen is unresponsive to touch while in portrait mode. The unusable portion covers about 20% of the screen, and begins about 20% of the way down from the top. Basically, this means that the third row of shortcuts (from the bottom) are unusable, cannot be moved, etc. Turning the phone into landscape mode renders the previously unusable portion (now a vertical stripe along the left side of the phone, if the buttons are on the right) responsive to touch again. Certain keys in the multi touch keyboard do not respond while in landscape mode. The "C", "X", and "D" keys no longer work in landscape mode. For approximately a month, the "R" key did not work in either orientation, though it has inexplicably begun working in both orientations.I have also experienced general stability issues. The phone has turned off a few times, on its own, as well as shutting down facebook when toggling between messaging and chat.
A couple times Ive pulled my phone out of my pocket and go to unlock it, and it wont accept any touch inputs. Only way to get it to work is to reset the phone.
When I try playing a game, particularly racing games where you have to hold down a button on the screen, the screen will become unresponsive in the one spot. Then after a second or two it will become responsive again, then unresponsive again. The process repeats the entire game. You can test this by downloading a racing game and then holding down the gas button. I experience the car slowing down or coming to a stop from holding down that one area for long periods of time (usually 30 seconds). After about 2 seconds, the screen will become responsive in that area again and the car will speed back up, but then it will become unresponsive again in just a few seconds..
This problem I have noticed will multiple racing games from different developers. Here are two games I notice it the most in: RacingMoto and Top Truck Free.I also posted over at XDA and someone said it has to do with preventing the screen from coming on in your pocket.I was wondering if Motorola is planning on fixing this because Sprint is marketing this phone as the "Gaming Guru's Weapon of Choice". It's a little hard to become a gamer on this phone if the screen becomes unresponsive.
I came home last night and discovered my Droid 2 was completely dead. Removing the battery and putting it back in had no effect. I placed it on the Motorola docking station and tried to boot up - nothing. However, at 2:00 in the morning I noticed the DROID was displaying a bright solid white screen. It would not respond to any action, so I removed the battery again. The battey was warm to the touch. Puting the battery back in this time dis allow meto boot back with the home page looking fine, so I'm guessing the first time the battery was dead. I placed it back in the docking station, shut down the display. When I woke up the next morning the Droid would not respond to the power n button. Once again I removed the battery to force a hard reboot. After putting the battery back in it wouldn't boot, but I noticed the screen was not black, but instead it was a dull lighted blueish gray. I removed the battery again and let the DROID sit for a couple hours. After this I put the battery back in and the DROID did boot up and everything seemed to be working. While in the docking station, charging, and after several hours the DROID was once again a dull lighted blueish gray. It would not respond to any action. I pulled the battery again which was warm to the touch. I let the DROID sit overnight with the battery removed. Today, it has been functioning correctly for at least 8 hours, 4 of those hours in the docxking station displaying time and date as usual.
What am I dealing with (software, hardware, battery)? The battery seems to be OK and charged. I'm using the SystemPannel APP to monitor CPU history and do not see anything unusual for the day. Regretablly, SystemPannel looses it history after one of these lock ups, so I can't see what happened just before the lock up. Can someone suggest another analysis tool that would catch the last moments before the lock up on the SD card? In its current state, I have no faith the phone will be working when I really need it.
The following has been happening since before the latest update, and continued after. My phone will randomly reboot itself (there doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing) and then hang at the rotating red logo.If I push the power button the display will turn off, but after that no buttons have any effects. If I plug the phone in the display comes back on to the unlock screen, but the touch screen is also unresponsive. The phone is definitely still running though, as my bluetooth headset will reconnect and time-based notifications will still happen (I have the phone set to beep every half hour). If I leave the phone sitting for a significant length of time I will notice it getting warm, and it will eventually reboot again and behave normally.Battery pull does nothing.Wiping the cache partition does nothing.I've done a factory reset before, and this makes the problem go away for a while, but it comes back.
This has happened to me about three times. I always manually press the power key to turn off the display and lock the phone before placing it in my pocket. Three times now, I have removed the phone from my pocket and found the soft keys lit up but the screen is black. The only key that responds is the power button... nothing else works. Every press of the power button toggles the soft key backlight, but nothing else. The only remedy I have found is to pull the battery.
I have a daughther that is 16 months old and sometimes while traveling we will start a movie on the Xoom for her to watch. But being that she is young, she loves to touch the screen which usually causes the movie to stop.
I have searched the Google Play for an app that would allow the screen and buttons to lock for a toddler and still show what is on the screen, but I have not found one yet. The screen could still be unlocked, but it would be like the lid to a medicine bottle, only a grown-up could unlock it.
After playing a game, or using Gmail app, or using the stock texting s/w, etc. when I go back to the home screen there is this bothersome latency with repopulating the screen with my icons and the "basic icons" (such as phone, texting, apps, etc.) at the bottom. Is there something I can try with the app manager, or some other utility that will tell me what's causing this latency?
I've been having issues with my phone taking up to 5 seconds for my phone to load my widgets and applications on my home screen when I press the home key. I'm constantly killing apps and it seems that when I "fast reboot" my phone and restart the core processes the phone is back to normal again.
my iPhone 5c screen became unresponsive it's on home screen and won't let me slide to open so I can't restart it, I tried restarting it and didn't work and just restored it and still not working,
I just replaced a glass screen on my father's Motorola Xoom with the 4G LTE upgrade. Total cost was $101 and about two hours of time. The Xoom was dropped on a tile floor and had multiple cracks in the glass, but was still functional. Just want all you fellow Xoom owners to know it can be done yourself if you have at least a bit of skills (and a hair dryer).
My Xoom WiFi is encrypted. When I turn on the tablet I get a password screen with the Android logo and a clock that never seems to display the correct time. Is it a glitch?
with all of the complaints about the Xoom being a Fingerprint magnet I thought I would share this info.
The cloth from the Monster Ultimate Performance TV Cleaning Kit works like a charm. I use the cloth dry and it removes all the fingerprints from my Xoom screen.
My biggest complaint about the Xoom is the fact I am not able to take screen shotsinstalled ICS tell me if the new OS has that functionality built into it?
I have a 3G Verizon Xoom on 3.1. I've noticed an issue since I got the tablet a few months ago; every once in a while, when opening a URL from outside the browser, the screen will flicker, like the connection to the LCD has gone bad. It is corrected by tilting the tablet to change the orientation from landscape to portrait, and then everything is fine. The issue only happens when opening the browser from inside another app - by clicking on a link in the gmail app, for instance.
Since the 3.2 update my screen dims and hangs in many programs such as choosing a picture to upload to facebook. Screen just dims and doesn't do anything. Not happy with this update.
My Xoom screen observed "Dotted Line"eed to send my Xoom to hospital again I had replace the LCD on 8 Oct 11 due to "Oil SLick/Newton Rings"Now LCD issue aga
So to make long story short woke up this morning after update yesterday and for my luck i find out that my screen dont turn on. Already called moto and they told me to send it in.
I'm running Android 4.1.1 on my Xoom.I'm trying to consolidate my game shortcuts to a single panel, but the customize icon, '+' does not appear on the upper righthand corner of the home screen. What happened to it and how do I get it back?
