I just replaced a glass screen on my father's Motorola Xoom with the 4G LTE upgrade. Total cost was $101 and about two hours of time. The Xoom was dropped on a tile floor and had multiple cracks in the glass, but was still functional. Just want all you fellow Xoom owners to know it can be done yourself if you have at least a bit of skills (and a hair dryer).
View 2 RepliesI dropped my newly bought Samsung Moment and the screen glass cracked . The phone is still working perfectly fine. I searched through the whole web but cannot find any instructions on how to replace the glass. There are many for iphones though. I bought one digitizer from ebay and plan to do it myself. I sent questions to the seller on ebay and ask him to ask his other buyers for me. But he directed me to this forum.
(1)Do you know where I can find some instructions? I searched on the web but only found those for iphones.
(2)If there are no instructions, can you tell me what you think important to me?
(3)How to start? I am not seeing any screws anywhere!
(4)How to remove the keyboard from the screen? Do I need to remove it?
(5) Can I just remove the screen from the front, or do I need to start from the back, and get to the screen layer by layer?
Been a Blackberry user since March last year, although I seem to have struck lucky with the particular blackberry I've got - my Storm2 9520 has been a catalogue of problems since the start.Anyway, last night I dropped the phone in my room, and the screen broke. Now, all that can be seen is a bizarre, inky pattern onscreen, obscuring everything bar the very bottom of the view. However, the glass screen itself is undamaged. Whenever I've looked on the internet for fixes, nearly all of them seem to deal with cracked glass screens, but my screen is undamaged - the display and what's showing up onscreen is the problem. Now, I'm not very tech-savvy, so here's my questions for you all:
1) what is the nature of this problem, i.e.. what is actually broken?
2) does my Vodafone warranty likely cover this? I've already sent the phone off once to be fixed, when the screen was not working properly and wouldn't respond properly to my button presses.
3) If no to 2), how easy would it be to affect a fix myself? Would it simply be a case of buying a new screen part and fitting it?

I unboxed my first Woot! purchase 30 mintues ago (a Xoom Wifi refurb), which unfortunately has a 3/4" crack in the internal screen (picture attached below). The crack is internal and the box it was shipped in looks pristine, it must have happened before/while it was getting refurbed maybe? Or just missed?
What are my options? I put out my feeler to Woot to see if I can exchange it, but I'm guessing they will just point me to Moto for it to be fixed. [URL]
I'd purchased a Motorola Xoom FE in BestBuy last november but it comes with a little black spot. At first I'd tried to clean it wiping the surface with a smooth cloth but then I'd realized that the dirt is located under the glass. I mean: between the glass and the surface of the LCD screen. It's not a big spot but it surely could be a little annoying, once that my eyes can't avoid to notice it.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen i was using the Motorola SF600 headphones (nothing the break the fall when i dropped the unit) and the screen cracked. Ok no problem, cracked screen still works i can live with it. Now today my screen is blanking in and out basically i cant see anything on the screen. This sucks, the SF600 headphones failed me twice i should have never even tried them.Let me note I still have my 32gb 1g ipod touch which has been smashed and dropped on cement so many times guess what screen never cracked, not once the thing still works for crying out loud! Sad thing is i might buy another unit but motorola really has some suspect issues. I am thankfull i bought this unit from amazon warehouse deals and was issued a credit due to an incompelte box so out of pocket was maybe $150. But jeezus Motorola lets make some stufff that can last and survive an accidental drop.

Ok I've seen the other horror stories on the forum about support. My device works fine, but I don't want it to get wet now with the screen crack.
I opened a call, and since I am from Canada, I was given a repair location that is right in my home city. Perfect! However they refused to even look at the device, claiming they repair Motorola phones but not the motoactv. I provided the Motorola ticket number and explained that Motorola referred me to them. They couldn't care less and refused to accept the device. I regulary use a US address, and so opened up a new case; and shipped my device to the US. The *very* day within hours of receiving notification that I would have to pay to have the motoactv fixed, (This is not a problem for me.) I phoned in and requested that the repair be made, and provided payment by credit card.I have a Gran Fondo event in Mid July, and will *definitely* be using my Garmin. Looks like I have perhaps totally wasted my money on this device, although for now I can use it as an mp3 player when I go to the gym......
Got home from work today sat down, checked some emails on my phone, then plugged it in to charge on the table beside me. I took a shower and when I came out to check for messages on the device the glass had a single crack from the top to the about half way down the right side. What the hell? I had this phone for about 7 days and havnt so much as fumbled it in my hands. Since the Rogers store didnt open until 12pm, I decided to do some research about this and see if this problem has affected anyone else. To my surprise this is a well noted issue with these phones, yet I see nowhere that Motorola has stepped up to issue a notice or recall reguarding this. So I took my phone in to the store and the employee was amazed as well, since the phone is in mint shape and definatly doest apear to be abused.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo - one of my dumb animals knocked my phone off a table (which they weren't supposed to be on in the first place) and it landed on the table foot (brass) face down and cracked the screen. The crack is down near the bottom (not on main viewing screen). Although the phone still works great, the crack is driving me crazy, and would anticipate it getting bigger at some point. I have the Verizon full replacement warranty, but don't really want a refurb as my BIONIC works perfect and don't want to get one someone returned that wasn't.
Just don't think Verizon will do anything except give me a refurb, and I don't have an upgrade coming for sometime.

Honestly I've never been so disappointed about a product. When I go to crop a picture, the screen goes black, gets really hot, and then shuts off.
So tonight I go to crop a picture, keeping in mind only some pictures don't crop, and the phone does its thing, shuts off, and.. Cracks.

I have a daughther that is 16 months old and sometimes while traveling we will start a movie on the Xoom for her to watch. But being that she is young, she loves to touch the screen which usually causes the movie to stop.
I have searched the Google Play for an app that would allow the screen and buttons to lock for a toddler and still show what is on the screen, but I have not found one yet. The screen could still be unlocked, but it would be like the lid to a medicine bottle, only a grown-up could unlock it.
I recently just peeled off the sheet that covers my screen so I could apply a screen protector. After several tries, I removed the screen protector to notice that there air bubbles underneath the glass screen. Is there a way I can get rid of it?
