Motorola Droid X2 :: Random Reboot / Touch Screen Is Unresponsive
Nov 18, 2011
The following has been happening since before the latest update, and continued after. My phone will randomly reboot itself (there doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing) and then hang at the rotating red logo.If I push the power button the display will turn off, but after that no buttons have any effects. If I plug the phone in the display comes back on to the unlock screen, but the touch screen is also unresponsive. The phone is definitely still running though, as my bluetooth headset will reconnect and time-based notifications will still happen (I have the phone set to beep every half hour). If I leave the phone sitting for a significant length of time I will notice it getting warm, and it will eventually reboot again and behave normally.Battery pull does nothing.Wiping the cache partition does nothing.I've done a factory reset before, and this makes the problem go away for a while, but it comes back.

I have this weird thing going on with my Atrix. I've had it for about six months and it was fine until now. What happens is that the touchscreen stops responding after it is turned off (pressing the power button) and back on. I can't unlock the phone, but the volume buttons are still responsive and I can still turn off the screen. If i reboot it (by removing the battery), it boots up just fine, with the screen working perfectly. It'll sometimes stop working when ending a call. The weird thing is that it doesn't happen everytime I turn off the screen, and when it happens, if I turn it off and back on it sometimes starts working again. It also seems to happen more frequently when the battery is low.

I have noticed when I talk to people, I hear a random 'touch tone' like sound very intermittently. This happens if I make or receive a call and is not just when I talk to other Verizon customers. My home phone used to do this (VoIP) at times. Same sound but now its on the Razr.I never heard this calling the same people when I was on Sprint.

I posted this in the wrong forum earlier like an idiot. If you see it please disregard. I didn't know how to get it deleted, I'm still a newbie as if you couldn't tell. My Sprint Touch Pro's touchscreen slowly died today. And I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I should do. I bought it on eBay and apparently the warranty is non-transferable so that's void. I have it on Boost so I'm guessing going to Sprint is out of the question also.

A couple times Ive pulled my phone out of my pocket and go to unlock it, and it wont accept any touch inputs. Only way to get it to work is to reset the phone.

I came home last night and discovered my Droid 2 was completely dead. Removing the battery and putting it back in had no effect. I placed it on the Motorola docking station and tried to boot up - nothing. However, at 2:00 in the morning I noticed the DROID was displaying a bright solid white screen. It would not respond to any action, so I removed the battery again. The battey was warm to the touch. Puting the battery back in this time dis allow meto boot back with the home page looking fine, so I'm guessing the first time the battery was dead. I placed it back in the docking station, shut down the display. When I woke up the next morning the Droid would not respond to the power n button. Once again I removed the battery to force a hard reboot. After putting the battery back in it wouldn't boot, but I noticed the screen was not black, but instead it was a dull lighted blueish gray. I removed the battery again and let the DROID sit for a couple hours. After this I put the battery back in and the DROID did boot up and everything seemed to be working. While in the docking station, charging, and after several hours the DROID was once again a dull lighted blueish gray. It would not respond to any action. I pulled the battery again which was warm to the touch. I let the DROID sit overnight with the battery removed. Today, it has been functioning correctly for at least 8 hours, 4 of those hours in the docxking station displaying time and date as usual.
What am I dealing with (software, hardware, battery)? The battery seems to be OK and charged. I'm using the SystemPannel APP to monitor CPU history and do not see anything unusual for the day. Regretablly, SystemPannel looses it history after one of these lock ups, so I can't see what happened just before the lock up. Can someone suggest another analysis tool that would catch the last moments before the lock up on the SD card? In its current state, I have no faith the phone will be working when I really need it.

This has happened to me about three times. I always manually press the power key to turn off the display and lock the phone before placing it in my pocket. Three times now, I have removed the phone from my pocket and found the soft keys lit up but the screen is black. The only key that responds is the power button... nothing else works. Every press of the power button toggles the soft key backlight, but nothing else. The only remedy I have found is to pull the battery.

I started noticing this problem on my phone (iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1) where my screen would kind of go haywire without me touching it. For example, if I'm browsing through Vine, it would automatically scroll all the way up as if I had pressed the info bar on top (the one that lets you scroll all the way up with one touch) and then would keep trying to pull down to refresh all by itself. The problem would temporarily go away when I locked the screen, but it would come back once in a while. At this point, I tried turning it on/off, doing a reset by holding the home and power buttons, and restoring it from a backup.Â
Now, the problem has escalated to where the entire screen is unresponsive to touch at first unlocking. It was a minor nuisance, until the entire screen would stop responding while the phone was unlocked and I had been using it. I tried turning it on/off and the reset with the home/power buttons, but the problem would still come up. At this point, I ended up doing a complete restoration of my phone and deleted everything I had on there. The problem seemed to go away last night, but this morning, after I unplugged it from its charger, the problem was back.Â
My current issue now is that the touch screen is unresponsive when I first try to unlock it, but I lock and re-unlock it and the screen works fine. But I have to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME I want to use my phone.
Info:
iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.1

Recently my Ray's touchscreen has stopped working completely; the screen its self works, as do the volume and power buttons, but it won't register any touch - I can't even unlock the slider. Tried all of the usual things, recharging, leaving the battery out etc. In the end I used the repair tool which installed ICS, and that actually worked for about two days, but the same problem just came back.

I bought my Z5 less than a month ago, it rarely fell. Today it slipped out of my pocket on a medium hard ground and the screen got cracked from the bottom left and the screen would not respond. I restarted it using the power+up volume button but it still is unresponsive.

I have had my Z2 for a while now. I'm very happy with my phone, but there are a few problems that i need fixed or deliver the phone back, because i cant use it like this.
Â
When i use the touch screen either calling a number, writing a text or anything, it aint always so responsive.
If i write a little word like: "Hi, my name is dave" then what i see written is: "H, Myname is dve"
Â
This is VERY hard for me to tolerate right now. I have always had samsung phones and i have never had any issues with the touch, but i wanted to test a Sony phone and i bought this one. My first impression was very good, but now its not that great.

My z3 screen recently cracked from top right corner to bottom left and the top two thirds of the screen is unresponsive to touch. So once I turned it on I cannot enter my PIN.
Can this issue be fixed with a simple screen replacement or is it a deeper issue?

While i was at school my Nexus 5 is still working properly. Our class will be staring soon so I turned on my Nexus 5's screen to put it to silent mode and close some apps, but white horizontal lines suddenly keeps appearing and disappearing and will appear again (like it was Fluctuating) then i turned the screen off and turned it on again and the white lines stopped but when i tried to unlock it, the touch screen won't work. I did not drop it nor did it got wet. What caused it to do that? (NOTE: I did a hard reset, Factory Data reset doesn't work, and other buttons is still working properly)

I don't know why, but my touchscreen no longer works. Buttons all work and the general function of the phone seems to be intact. I've been looking for a factory reset option using fastboot and I haven't found anything yet. Also tried to the "factory option in fastboot" in hopes it would completely reset my phone. I don't know if this is a software or hardware issue yet, but it's extremely aggravating.

Lately the touch screen of my storm has been doing something pretty weird. For the past few weeks, when I try to select something on one side of the screen,it won't respond. Like that side of the screen is dead or something. Then there are times when I try to select something that's on the right, the icon on the opposite side of the screen lights up.Same thing hapens when its in landscape view. And sometimes it doesn't even respond at all. It's most problematic when I try to use the keyboard function. Letters opposite of what I want light up. I've been turning the storm around so that the letter I want to sellect is on the responsive side of the screen, and sometimes I have to tap repeatedly just to get the button I want highlighted.Used to be that it would come and go, but more recently it's been coming more often than it is going.I've already tried a battery pull, but I don't think it worked. And it's been a while since I upgraded it, but only because I lost the software and cord to connect it to the computer. What do I need to do?

Update to 4.0 ICS two days back as it arrives in India, everthing is seems to me is pretty switching back to apps is far better now from previous version. But the main issue is with games when i started "Angry Birds" is starts off smoothly and all the hardare buttons are working just fine but the touch screen becomes completely unresponsive and even "Temple Run" slows down and touch is just horrible, sometimes it even plays its own moves, haaa..haa, funny.. Same issues a bit of a time for few seconds also goes for "Skater Boy" game too which mostly runs very fine.

Not sure if I have a hardware or software issue. I just updated my 1520 to Windows 10 (build 10586.29).
The touch screen will randomly stop working. I'll be trying to scroll, open an app, etc. Nothing. I have to reboot the entire phone. I also get random ghost touch issues.
None of this was happening on Windows 8.1. However, I have only had the phone for two days. Used 8.1 for one day and have been using 10 today. That is why I am unsure if this is an OS issue or a hardware defect.

So this morning I took my Xperia Play out of its charging dock, to find that the touch screen is now completely unresponsive.I have tried updating and repairing the software through the PC companion, but the screen is still completely unresponsive. The phone is still (technically) working, and can be navigated by using the PS controls, but the touch part of the screen is not working.

So I'm on my third Atrix. First was within 30 day window with occasional random reboot, it was exchanged. The second was perfect up until the new OTA where I had issues with 4.5.91 installing and it was replaced with an upgraded Atrix with 4.5.91 already installed.he current one is rebooting twice daily and it's getting a little old. My question is where to I go from here? I have to be able to be contacted 24/7 for work, and got my peepee stepped on last time. So I cannot wait for an exchange. Can I reinstall 4.5.91 somehow and start from scratch? I've tried the factory reset and every combination of installing and uninstalling various apps I have. Even went a few days with not restoring any apps! I'm really thinking this may be software related, but could be wrong!

It appears yet another Motorola phone is suffering from random rebooting. Has anyone else had trouble with this? I notice it more when there is low/no network coverage (Thanks Sprint). their battery full to only discover the battery is near dead moments later... "The attery is not really dead but rather the phone is just not recognizing it", etc.., etc...,...The hardware problem that I believe is the root cause of all or most of these issues is the battery connection to the phone... People have taken their phones back for another one only to have the same issues with the new one... They have factory reset them, deleted apps, downloaded the update thinking it would fix these issues... I bought my phone 09/03/11 and within an hour of purchase it random rebooted and later that evening completely shutdown requiring a battery pull to reboot... The next day it shutdown 3 times requiring a battery pull... Usually when I just sat the phone down face up.. I believe the battery is separating enough from the contacts when in certain positions to cause these disorders... My phone never did this while recharging because it had a steady power source... That along with those who were experiencing full charge to low charge moments later led me to this conclusion... Happy to report I have for my phone at least eliminated the problem.\
THE FIX: Simply snap in your battery with the phone face down making sure its snug... Simply apply a strip of electrical tape next to the kick stand where the contacts are located... The tape should extend about a 1/4 inch either side of the battery... This secures the battery from moving in the contact area... The Micro SD a Sim card slots are at the other end of the battery and are still accessible... This back cover is not really effected and in fact it only makes it more snug... This fix has completely eliminated reboot & shutdown problems on my phone... Until Motorola factory fixes this issue, this is the best next thing... My EVO had tape all over under the hood and if you do it right it looks factory

I have a DroidX2, and two times now it has rebooted on its own when doing the screen unlock swipe. Note that I have a passcode entry required to gain access to the device, but I cannot get to the point where I enter the passcode; rather, the phone reboots before passcode entry is permitted.

I am having an issue where the touch screen seems to be unresponsive for a short time after unlock. For instance, if I unlock the phone via fingerprint, pattern, or slide the first touch doesn't respond and I have to tap whatever app or item I am trying to use. I'm using Cataclysm ROM with the most recent ElementalX kernel. Maybe it's a ROM/Kernel thing and I should try stock but just wanted to ask here.
