Motorola Xoom :: Corrupt Display - Screen Started Turning Blue
Apr 17, 2011
I have a XOOM WiFi I bought from Staples on launch day. A couple of days ago the screen started turning blue. If the device sits unused (such as overnight) the next morning it is fine for about a minute or two. Then it turns blue again. The blue corruption moves. If I try to scroll up on a list that is already scrolled as far as it can go a blue "halo" appears at the bottom of the screen for as long as I hold my finger on the screen. It disappears after a few seconds. I've already tried a soft reset. I haven't tried a factory wipe yet as I was hoping to avoid that.
With honeycomb, when you removed the tablet from the dock (and it was in standby) the screen turned on, but now with ICS I only get to hear the 'sound' but the screen doesn't turn on, I have to use the on button to turn the screen on..
in addition to using the built in reader, I downloaded the free adobe viewer from the marketplace. neither of them will open up some pdf files- other pdf files open fine- I searched the database for pdf corrupt and pdf won't open, but did not find anything?
I've had my Incredible since it came out, and within the last couple of days the screen has started turning on randomly and not shutting off. It is killing my battery unless I notice it right away and turn it off.
I have music and photo files stored on an SD card. I could play the music and view photos OK before ICS update. After ICS, the music files on the SD card didn't play. If I copied them to the internal memory, they worked. Gallery photos on SD card had multiple copies and would not swipe from one to the next. When viewed with XOOM attached to PC, there were multiple copies of everything. but only one copy of each if viewed in file manager, or by plugging SD card directly into PC. I found on other forums that I can clear the media storage and the files will play properly. However, after I restart once or twice the files are corrupted again. Is there a permanent fix for this problem? Is Google/Motorola aware of this? Is a permanent fix planned for a future update?
I always noticed a very subtle shading about a half-inch wide around the screen of my Xoom. In the last few days, I've noticed that it's much more pronounced, particularly on a blue background. It's very distracting when watching videos. I've tried various players, formats, etc...but I even see it on the home screen if I have a blue background set. Is my screen defective?
I recently purchased the xoom 32 wifi and got it up and running. It is using the 3.2 system and immediately when I turned it on I noticed that the boot up screen (blue honeycomb screen) was very blurry. Once it booted up I went on the browser and noticed that some of the ad boxes on the browser, dolphin and default were fuzzy and grainy. I also noticed that videos that opened and played from web pages were a little blurry. This is not the case with my friends aseus. We did a side by side. Is this normal for the xoom? Especially the blurry boot up screen?
My iPhone 4 has recently started to display a black screen. Has happened while using multiple apps, on a call, etc. I hold the power button down and it shows a depleted battery and suggests I plug in the charger. After a few seconds it comes back to life (apple logo, general start up process) and displays there is more than enough battery. Why?
My screen started playing up today it rang and the screen started to scroll like an old tv that wasn't tuned in... now the display is like a photo negative.
today and yesterday my browser has started to act wierd. i did clear my data and cache, but just seeing if there is anything else that anyone would recommend.
I have a BB Bold 9780 which I have purchased in Oct 2011. The display screen has been turning white for some strange reasons all by itself and some times it is ok. I have not purchased it from the service providers
This has only happened twice in the past 6 months, most recently today. I try to unlock my phone and the backlight will come on but the screen is black. Waited about 5 minutes and still the same. Power button will not shut it down. Pulled the battery and waited a few minutes and started it. Boots fine but I get a message that the SD card is corrupt and everything is gone. Had to mount and reformat. No new app's and I don't use any other launchers or lock screens so it is completely stock.
My Droid 2 Global started doing that today. I would press the button on top that turns ON the display, and the login screen appeared, as usual. Then, when I attempted to insert my password, the display would suddenly turn off before I could go any further, and when I pressed the top button again, it had returned to the initial login screen. I couldn't get past the password entry! I typed faster, got my password in, then went to settings to confirm the display time: it was set for 2 minutes to display shutoff. I then removed my password, just in case I couldn't get back on! Periodically, again, the display turned off very quickly for no reason, during the next hour or so. During that time, I turned my Droid off, then on, but it still didn't cooperate. Next, I removed the battery, and replaced it. Still no luck. The phone wasn't overly warm (that's ANOTHER question--why does it get so hot!), as it has been on other occasions.!
Has anyone noticed their hotspot turning itself off? It has happened to me a few times in the past 24 hours.Once when I was right in the middle of a skype conversation on my laptop (using the hotspot).
I have a Motorola Xoom wifi edition that will not power up. When on a charger, it goes from white to green as normal. I've tried power and volume down, power and volume up, and power and both volume, all to no avail. It was working just fine until my dad got it, then it refused to power up.
I ordered my Xoom from amazon.com, and exactly one day after their 30 day return period my tablet awakened showing only vertical lines. I am able to do a forced power-up (Volume up, power) but all you can see is the tablet going through the appropriately-colored start sequence, complete with the pulsating blue and purple honeycomb sequence - but with only somewhat compressed vertical lines. You can't really see where anything is on the screen, which has made it impossible to really acheive a factory reset start sequence. I've tried searching for this problem and haven't found it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else had seen this.
Motorola suggested checking with place of purchase for return/exchange policy and/or returning the tablet to them. Mainly I'm curious if any others have experienced this and to let anyone who is know that they aren't the only one.
I love my Xoom, and after only 36hrs without it I am already missing it. Not looking forward to another couple of weeks.
Wondering if anyone else has experienced 5-10 thin blue lines/streaks in their display (red on a black background). I first noticed the issue when using my Kindle app a few months ago. Eventually they disappeared but now they've returned. It has been several days and like last time, don't go away with a device reboot or reset.
The temperature display in my notification bar updates only sporadically. I noticed some discussion of this in the past, but no answers. I'd like to know either how to make it update more frequently or turn it off!
For the first time, I took my Xoom outdoors to see if it could log on to my neighbor's WiFi. The display was so washed out in the sunshine as to be unreadable. It looks so great indoors that I was somewhat shocked.
So a week or two after getting my Blackberry Bold 9900 it started turning off for no reason. The screen goes black and then I cannot turn the phone back on without removing the battery, waiting 30 seconds and the replacing it.I have tested a new battery and this has not helped. I have tried cleaning the contacts on the phone this has not helped. I have updated the software numerous times and this has not helped. The only way I can get my phone to stay on is by having it constantly on charge.I want to return it for a replacement as it is only a few months old.
Xoom - LTE (ICS). I have HD docking station and would like to know if there is an option to keep the display on. My Android 4 phone/docking station has options to show time/date. Does the Zoom (ICS) have options as well? If so, where can they be found?
My iphone5 started turning itself off and on again and now its flashing the apple logo when connected to the charger but not powering on, i have restored it works for 10 mins then back to the flashing logo?
I receive lots of email from friends and family that contain pictures that have been inserted between lines of text. They show up fine in outlook and webmail, but on the Xoom they show up with tiny placeholders (boxes with green question marksressing on "show pictures" does not help. Emails with regular attacements can be viewed by clicking on attachements, and advertising pics are shown after clicking "show pictures" Only embedded or inserted pictures are not displayedI have seen posts about this on the android forum, but could not find any answers.Hopefully there is a solution, especially since the Xoom has the latest
Having serious issues with my Curve lately. It started freezing occasionally so I would do as the forums said and take out the battery which would solve it for a while. Now, however, even when I do that and turn it back on the phone instantly freezes with messages coming through but the little timer is just constantly turning in the center of the screen.
I have a question about my Atrix. The other day I noticed the blue notifications LED was staying on solid when the screen is off. When I turn the screen on it goes off. The only way I've been able to get it to go off is to do a battery pull. Once I do that, it will go for 1-2 days and then the LED starts coming on again.
