It has occurred to me a couple of times, that my soft keys turn on and off randomly. This mostly happens when the battery keeps around 30% of the charge. I'm not sure if it is an ambient light sensor problem or simply a bug.
View 6 RepliesI noticed immediately that the haptic feedback out of the box was really weak. Oddly, once I installed SwiftKey and adjusted its haptic KB feedback that now the keys are old giving a much stronger feedback.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got a RAZR less than 10 days ago, and sometime over the past few days, I noticed that the soft keys no longer illuminate and the proximity sensor on the top of the phone isn't working. They both seemed to stop working at the same time, and I can't figure why and how to fix it. The soft key issue is not the biggest deal, since I know which ones are which anyway. But the more annoying issue is the sensor not working, so that when I'm on calls and have the phone up to my ear, the screen won't shut off automatically, and turn back on again once removed from my face. It gets quite annoying having to hit the power button every time to shut the screen on and off during calls. Has this happened to anyone else?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis has happened to me about three times. I always manually press the power key to turn off the display and lock the phone before placing it in my pocket. Three times now, I have removed the phone from my pocket and found the soft keys lit up but the screen is black. The only key that responds is the power button... nothing else works. Every press of the power button toggles the soft key backlight, but nothing else. The only remedy I have found is to pull the battery.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWithout warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)
I got the Atrix 2 today, The Back lighting on the 4 soft keys on the bottom, settings, home, return and search, the backlighting doesnt always come on.. usually when you touch them or the display screen, they light up bright white.

Yes you lose a small amount of real estate but it's cool not the less.

Then next morning I connected the phone to my car's charger and when I turned it on, I figured that the soft keys are not working anymore.
I have tried multiple methods like clearing cache, factory reset (through Settings and Recovery), but none of that worked.
I am running the latest stock firmware (5.1.1 U2COH2).
Is there an app that allows me to reconfigure the keys? Could this be a hardware issue?
Just traded in my Bionic for a RAZR MAXX HD - I am trying to use HDMI mirror mode with the Motorola Smart Controller (RZ100) and BT keyboard to get me as close to a Lapdock as possible. I am on JB OTA, didn't have ICS to compare this bug to.
2 problems/bugs I have run into:
Playing video's thru any app I've tried (MX Player, Stock player, Netflix etc.) The video plays fine, sound good etc.........if I pause, stop, rewind, fast forward or exit Video app. The phone soft resets 90% of the time? After having the phone connected via HDMI cable, when I unplug the phone. I have no media sound coming from phone speakers until I reboot the phone, sound must still be trying to route thru HDMI port even though cable is not plugged in?
there is no notification that pops up showing it is in running in Mirror Mode. Should there be? Similar to how it works when placed in the car dock?
what's the most reliable, trustworthy, not awkward way to hide the soft keys on an app by app basis without making anything laggy or weird? I used to have it on cyanogenmod on previous phones but with the nexus I'd rather stay on stock ROM
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo basically. I soft reset my phone and the screen went black (normal), but the led light just kept blinking. I thought maybe because of the upgrade it needed more time or something. So I decided to leave my phone and go get ready for work thinking by the time I'm ready to jet, it would be up and running. 45 minutes later, Nothing. Still black. Still blinking. So I did a hard reset which worked just fine. But I had to soft reset my phone again (why? the alerts sounds stopped working...resetting it makes them work again)....but same deal: black screen, blinking led. Is soft reset just dead now with the new upgrade?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using the Z2 for some time now and totally in love with the hardware design and the nicely laid out interface. Though sony decided to discriminate the Indian users by not giving the noise cancellation head or the LTE model ....considering its 50K phone here ... which is not cheap
Aside from what mentioned above there are 2 more things that’s bother me...
1. There are some bloatware on the phone provided by sony but there are no options to uninstall them.
2. While on call nothing else works the soft keys gets disabled, you can’t type a msg the keyboard doesn’t come up. This was how it was in my Z as well. In the forum some people mentioned that it got resolved in the 4.3 update, however i don’t think it is yet.
I wasn't sure how to describe the problem in the title, but the problem is since I closed the camera app half of the black soft keys background is always showing on the home screen and the lock screen. Like this:

Soft keys doesn't work but some time its work i have to touch again and again to click home and back button , when i open camera application even i cant go back because there bottom dots not clickable and not working on my mobile, i factory reset my mobile using pc compaing too but still i have that problem, and chekced using safe mode.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis morning my phone locked up and then restarted itself multiple times. It took a few tires to turn back on before it was fully able to. Now that its on, there are no soft keys or notification bar.
Also the screen will not turn on for more than a second or two and the wallpaper has gone away. When I am able to select something I get stuck in that app and can't get out of it without turning my phone off.
Only update that I got recently was the Hangouts one. Outside of a factory wipe, not sure what to do at this point.
I am experiencing a red frame that appears around the bordor of my screen when I do certain functions. The red frame appears and blinks when doing activities such as placing calls in "dialer" and togglinging wii-fi and airplane mode. This started happening about a week ago weeks after the ICS upgrade.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my Droid Razr Nov 10th; had problems so Nov 11 evening I reformated device, factory reset.
As of this morning on Nov 19th I noticed my LED notification light flashing, so I turned on screen to see what I missed. Nothing. Okay so I unlocked phone and waited a minute to see if some third party application will tell me I have a notification. Nothing.
I turned display off, waited a min and it started flashing again. This time I had to go to work so I turned off device 100% and went to work; 6hrs later I turned on device and I got the LED notification light again. Still cant figure it out. After texting a friend, his 2nd text finally made it go away.
I attended a wedding ceremony as a guest and put my cell phone on Airplane mode so no distractions during wedding and thankfully no lights. 1hr later I re enabled all Data (turned off Airplane mode) and still no LED notification.
I thought I was saved.
But I was wrong. After 2hrs I'm getitng the LED notification light again. Tech thought it had something to do with battery, well at at any rate I'm getting a new device, will be here Wednesday but apparently its still blinking at me.
Heck I even have that thing plugged into the AC charging battery and its still going off. The weird thing is, is that when I turn a blank black screen to power up for me so I can use device the LED light goes away, but when I turn off the display (not powering device off) it comes back.
Verizon tried to get me to Motorola Tech Support but guess what, during the transition of being transferred it was 5:59 then 6:00 and the phone cut me off so their website shows them being closed. i just missed the transfer to talk to someone at motorola by 1 minute. So now i have to wait til after 3pm PST tomorrow before i call Motorola back about this issue. Til then I'm hoping someone else knows something
Out of nowhere, the screen will not respond. I still have a pulsating blue LED and soft keys light up.
I've tried all button combos and still no success... Its running stock and no customization at all...
My notification light blinks every 60 seconds or so, and I can't figure out why. There's nothing in the notification bar. How do I find out which notification is doing this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedRAZR Maxx My problem is about the 4 bottom icons/buttons/keys (Menu, Home, Back, Search) not lighting properly. When in a fairly dark room they always stay lit. Last night before sundown the icons were not lit. It was too dark to see them without being lit. It also depended on the position. I do not know if this was due to internal position sensors or just getting different levels of light from the light sensors. I called Verizon Tech Support and they said this was normal. It may be "normal" but hard to use the phone if I cannot see the icons/buttons/keys.

It also says that using the Settings method is preferable. Does anyone know why the Settings method is preferred? Is the outcome of both methods the same? The instructions (and user guide) say that the Settings method doesn't erase your external SD card, and will only erase internal storage if you choose to. Does the External Keys method work the same way? (I've used those key strokes to clear the data cache, but can't remember what the other choices are).

With Eclair, when i unlock my screen, the soft key (menu, home, return, search) backlight turns on and stay lit until the screen goes blank. Now once i unlock the screen, the soft keys backlight turns on and within few secs, it turns off, though i still work on the phone. its just like flickering in small intervals.
