Google Nexus 6 :: Why Don't Have Soft Keys / Notification Bar And Phone Keeps Restarting
Mar 5, 2015
This morning my phone locked up and then restarted itself multiple times. It took a few tires to turn back on before it was fully able to. Now that its on, there are no soft keys or notification bar.
Also the screen will not turn on for more than a second or two and the wallpaper has gone away. When I am able to select something I get stuck in that app and can't get out of it without turning my phone off.
Only update that I got recently was the Hangouts one. Outside of a factory wipe, not sure what to do at this point.
Bought a nexus 5 for the youger bro last year and rooted so he could install kodi. What ever messing about he has done there is no image on the phone so is soft bricked. The phone waas rooted and the boot loader unlocked also you can access twrp. What can i do to restore from a nexus 5 image as i have no backups.
what's the most reliable, trustworthy, not awkward way to hide the soft keys on an app by app basis without making anything laggy or weird? I used to have it on cyanogenmod on previous phones but with the nexus I'd rather stay on stock ROM
so I was trying to flash the latest Nexus build to my Nexus 6, but the bootloader was taking 10+ mins to flash, so I tried closing out of cmd and then restarting my phone into bootloader. Unfortunately, now, my computer doesn't recognize my phone, saying that the drivers are no bueno, so that when i type fastboot devices nothing shows up.
So I've had lollipop since the Dev preview was released and I had less bugs on the preview than the final release. After side loading lollipop my phone randomly restarts itself and goes into loop. It gets to the point that when I try to get into recovery mode I can't make it to the restart boot loader screen without my phone constantly restarting.
Eventually it stops after a few minutes or up to a few hours. When this cycle occurs and I plug it into the charger the cycle gets even worse. My phone was unusable for over 5 hours yesterday. I've tried restoring it but no luck. What do I do !?
Soft keys doesn't work but some time its work i have to touch again and again to click home and back button , when i open camera application even i cant go back because there bottom dots not clickable and not working on my mobile, i factory reset my mobile using pc compaing too but still i have that problem, and chekced using safe mode.
Nexus on bootloop tried every method ,most of them . Flashing new factory image is also of no good. Cleared cache , factory reset and still on bootloop. On flashing lollipop factory image it gets stuck on boot loop and on flashing KitKat factory image or using any custom ROM like cyanogenmod it gets through boot but is unable to detect sim and apps like play store and camera keep crashing and refuses to open.
Is there any way to turn on notification sounds (for new text msg or email etc.) during phone calls?
I find myself constantly taking my phone away from my ear during calls to check if there are any new notifications since the sounds get muted during call and find this kind of annoying. Seems like this should be a standard option, no?
Since installation of WhatsApp on my (recently purchased) Nexus 5, when vibration setting is set to "default" in application, the phone does not vibrate on receipt of a new WhatsApp message, even while system settings are set to "Vibrate when Ringing".
It vibrates though when the WhatsApp vibration settings are set to 'Short' or 'Long'
So basically, the "default" mode in vibration settings of WhatsApp is not ruled by the system settings, rather follows the rule - Vibrate when the phone is set on silent, and do not vibrate when ringing is enabled.
Is this how it is supposed to work? Because as per my read around I got an impression that default mode is to govern the app notification as per system setting. Am I missing something?
My Nexus 5 has started periodically encountering this problem about once a month or so where it will just shut off and then repeatedly restart, never getting out of the start up process. It will then be unable to turn on for hours, restarting itself anytime it is booting up. This will last for hours, sometimes a day, and then will just start fine and not have any issues for another month or so. Any recommendations without a factory reset?
I have an issue with permanent restarting and no service in my N5. I have bought it like this for very nice price with hope to restore it. It had CM11 with restarting and no service issues when I received it.
I decided to try hard reset and after many tries with Nexus Root Toolkit and LG Flashtool I have ended with 4.4.4. with quite "stable" performance (it is working fine for couple minutes periods between restarts).
In bootloader there is no issue with restarting so it looks like system problem to me but I am not sure...
It has occurred to me a couple of times, that my soft keys turn on and off randomly. This mostly happens when the battery keeps around 30% of the charge. I'm not sure if it is an ambient light sensor problem or simply a bug.
The softkeys on my photon 4g (menu, home, back , search) have suddenly stopped working. They used to work fine before..Touchscreen is working fine but whenever i press any of the softkeys, nothing happens.. I have tried factory reset on my phone but its still the same. It has become very annoying as I am not able to go back to what i was doing since none of the soft key responds...
Nexus 5 keeps restarting (looping from Google Logo - 4 color dots screen)... I flashed lollipop from Google Website the latest one last Nov 22 if im not mistaken everything works great except yesterday. constantly looping to google logo then the 4 colored dots loading screen then google logo. I tried to reset volume up down + power or volume down + power but no lock. cant flash again because it wont stay on to the fastboot screen will reboot after few secs...
I have a 9550, running OOAKDPC 9550 464v2 Hybrid.I've noticed at times, that the soft key lights will not turn off, even when the screen darkens. I noticed this problem under 428 as well.
I have been using the Z2 for some time now and totally in love with the hardware design and the nicely laid out interface. Though sony decided to discriminate the Indian users by not giving the noise cancellation head or the LTE model ....considering its 50K phone here ... which is not cheap
Aside from what mentioned above there are 2 more things that’s bother me...
1. There are some bloatware on the phone provided by sony but there are no options to uninstall them. 2. While on call nothing else works the soft keys gets disabled, you can’t type a msg the keyboard doesn’t come up. This was how it was in my Z as well. In the forum some people mentioned that it got resolved in the 4.3 update, however i don’t think it is yet.
I wasn't sure how to describe the problem in the title, but the problem is since I closed the camera app half of the black soft keys background is always showing on the home screen and the lock screen. Like this:
I have tried to turn on and off the phone and so on. I know I can try a factory reset
I noticed immediately that the haptic feedback out of the box was really weak. Oddly, once I installed SwiftKey and adjusted its haptic KB feedback that now the keys are old giving a much stronger feedback.
This has happened to me about three times. I always manually press the power key to turn off the display and lock the phone before placing it in my pocket. Three times now, I have removed the phone from my pocket and found the soft keys lit up but the screen is black. The only key that responds is the power button... nothing else works. Every press of the power button toggles the soft key backlight, but nothing else. The only remedy I have found is to pull the battery.
Without warning, my soft keys stopped working. When I press one, they activate whatever is on the touch screen above them. (For instance, the menu soft key is right below the widget on my home page for contacts. When I press the menu soft key, it activates the contacts widget rather then accessing menus.) I tried a factory reset (I'll spare you the frustrating story of how the backup app I paid for doesn't seem to have worked as promised for me, though thousands of others love it), which included clearing the cache and was done using the external keys not via the reset option in settings. Freshly restarted, prior to adding any of the apps or changing anything, the soft keys still exhibit that behaviour. (Though, come to think of it, I also think the wallpaper stayed, which makes no sense to me. Everything else had to be reconfigured and the reset/cache clearing didn't throw any errors...hmz...)
The Droid 2 keyboard has a back button, which I've been using non-stop since the soft keys went out on me. And a search button, but I never use that. I can get by without a way to simulate having the home key (though I wouldn't mind that). But, as you can imagine, the lack of a functioning Menu key is a serious impediment. I love my Droid 2 enough that, rather than use my "new every 2" to upgrade to a Droid 4, I'm hoping to either fix my issue (which could include fixing the soft keys OR findind a keyboard shortcut for the Menu key) or buy a "new" Droid 2.
So, anyone have either a troubleshooting suggestion other than a reset (tried twice now) and/or know a magical shortcut on the physical keyboard that will do the same thing as the Menu soft key?(Phone is not rooted and has the latest version of Android that Verizon pushed...Looks like 2.3.4)
I got the Atrix 2 today, The Back lighting on the 4 soft keys on the bottom, settings, home, return and search, the backlighting doesnt always come on.. usually when you touch them or the display screen, they light up bright white.
I just got a RAZR less than 10 days ago, and sometime over the past few days, I noticed that the soft keys no longer illuminate and the proximity sensor on the top of the phone isn't working. They both seemed to stop working at the same time, and I can't figure why and how to fix it. The soft key issue is not the biggest deal, since I know which ones are which anyway. But the more annoying issue is the sensor not working, so that when I'm on calls and have the phone up to my ear, the screen won't shut off automatically, and turn back on again once removed from my face. It gets quite annoying having to hit the power button every time to shut the screen on and off during calls. Has this happened to anyone else?
