View 1 RepliesMy brother woke up this evening to find his phone stuck on the android loading screen saying "erasing". He didn't do anything, it did this on its own. Once it had finished, his phone had factory reset itself and he lost everything that wasn't backed up.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 won't factory reset and has some kinda api or app on it and has two of every program on it, the original and another, it seems to collect my texts, call logs, and anything I do on it and sends them to a unknown number.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving issues performing factory resets? My Nexus 5 seems incapable of completing it. So far I have tried doing a factory reset from the settings menu 4 times. Every single time it locks up on the erasing step. I don't mean it takes a little longer. I have let it sit for almost half an hour and the little android robot sits there taunting me.Every time I have had to manually go into the bootloader and sideload a factory image, which works fine.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm using Nexus5 w/ Marshmallow (6.0), original stock.Yesterday I found a app that can improve the volume too weak issue and it need to unlock the phone.
I follow the steps to unlock the phone, after I run command "fastboot boot twrp.img", then the phone rebooted and perform something around 10 minutes, after the phone resumed to system, seem all the data(apps/photo/video) are deleted, seem perform a factory reset. before that, some files didn't perform backup, now how to I recover those files after factory reset??
I try many tools said can recover after factory reset or wiped, for example Dr.Fone, EaseUS MobiSaver, Recuva, DiskDigger on Android, some can found files but all not I needed and the phone already rooted. How to recover some, not all.
Is it possible to wipe date/factory reset the N5 if the screen only barely lights up a dull grey? I got a replacement but I have to send this one back and cant reset it the normal way.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had downloaded the new OTA patch about 3 days ago and noticed a lot of battery drain. So I tried to factory reset it and now its just stuck on Erasing with Green Android working. It had, I guess crashed, with the red triangle and I had to hard reset the phone which is now back at Erasing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy nexus 5 screen cracked, I have sold my motherboard to someone as I will be getting a new phone. But the problem is that my files are still on the motherboard. I have teamwin recovery installed but it uses touch so I can't acces anything. How can I factory reset my phone and maybe lock the bootloader again too?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI own a LG Nexus 5 (non rooted), and I've been using this photo app called VSCOcam solely as my phone camera for the last 2 years, and I've taken thousands and thousands of photos with it. The phone has been amazing for the last 2 years but it is time for an upgrade.
So I went to backup my phone and realized that VSCOcam had screwed me... The app has its own internal library so unless you "export" the photos, they are not accessible in /sdcard. Someone in XDA forums had the app and told me that the photos are stored inside "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" and unless I root I wont have access.
Now heres the cycle of stupidness which I think you all can guess. In order to root -> I need to unlock my bootloader, and to unlock my bootloader -> I need to factory reset!
I've tried just about everything to root my phone without factory resetting, so far none has succeeded.I contacted the devs for VSCOcam and they told me to highlight the photos individually and export...
What should I do? Should I just bite the bullet and lose ALL MY PHOTOS?? The app is currently listed as 12gb in size...
TL;DR - VSCOcam hid thousands of photos in "/data/data/com.vsco.cam/files/images" which is unreachable without root, and to root means to factory reset my phone wiping all the photos I'm trying to get in the first place...
I did a factory reset. It was stuck in "Erasing" for an hour.
1. Restart -> Booted back to Erase mode
2. Bootloader -> Recovery mode -> Booted back to Erase mode
3. Bootloader -> Start -> Booted back to Erase mode
4. USB connection -> no device recognized
5. ???
6. Profit!
I picked up my phone to make a call and noticed it looked VERY different, different splash screen, apps lined up differently, etc.
When I went to look for an app, I noticed they were all gone. Somehow, my phone reset itself and I lost everything -- all installed apps, phone lists, everything.
Is there anyway to go back to a state that existed before this? FWIW, I live in Guangzhoung...and the only thing I did that was even remotely different was I reloaded the phone (china unicomm).
So I updated to Marshmallow from Lollipop via fastboot on my Mac. Upon installing SuperSU and rebooting, I got stuck on the boot animation. Cache wipe and factory reset - still no go, and after the factory reset, I lost TWRP. I tried installing it again only to receive a black screen when rebooting into recovery mode. Tried another factory reset and reinstalled Marshmallow - same issue. I have contacted Google and there's nothing they can do.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I have each had an S2 w/T-Mobile for roughly five months. Several days ago his started restarting on its own any time the screen was turned off (either manually turned off by tapping the "power" button or when the screen timed out) but no other time. It was doing this for a couple of days. I contacted tech support and they suggested a factory reset, which I did. It came back online with no trouble, and he was able to log in to his accounts, make calls, send texts, etc. It didn't restart on its own at all for the couple of hours we had it with us that night. During those couple of hours it was plugged in to charge. We went to bed and the next morning it was completely dead. No response to any buttons, doesn't acknowledge when it's plugged in, nothing. We tried swapping batteries and SIM cards with my phone, and still nothing.

View 3 Replies View Relatedso I was trying to flash the latest Nexus build to my Nexus 6, but the bootloader was taking 10+ mins to flash, so I tried closing out of cmd and then restarting my phone into bootloader. Unfortunately, now, my computer doesn't recognize my phone, saying that the drivers are no bueno, so that when i type fastboot devices nothing shows up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 5 has started periodically encountering this problem about once a month or so where it will just shut off and then repeatedly restart, never getting out of the start up process. It will then be unable to turn on for hours, restarting itself anytime it is booting up. This will last for hours, sometimes a day, and then will just start fine and not have any issues for another month or so. Any recommendations without a factory reset?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI do not have my cable at home, and I am having the same problem. I am without a phone for at least the weekend.
There is no way to factory reset through the device? Old blackberry devices had this.
Also all I did was upgrade an app through blackberry's app store. How can that cause such a critical issue?
Is RIM working on that? I see this problem is very wide spread, makes you wonder what kind of QA work is being done on the dvices.
i restored the back up of phone when it load, there was no service and it doesn't show carrier.  i reset my phone(reset factory), when i insert sim card, it says: "device unknown, and that I have to contact an apple store.."

View -1 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with permanent restarting and no service in my N5. I have bought it like this for very nice price with hope to restore it. It had CM11 with restarting and no service issues when I received it.
I decided to try hard reset and after many tries with Nexus Root Toolkit and LG Flashtool I have ended with 4.4.4. with quite "stable" performance (it is working fine for couple minutes periods between restarts).
In bootloader there is no issue with restarting so it looks like system problem to me but I am not sure...

My N97 is updated to the latest. I go to MENU-->>APPLICATIONS-->>SW UPDATE, it scans for updates and shows 'ALL APPLICATIONS ARE UPTODATE'. Now then, if i reset the device with a *#7370#, will it delete these updates as well? Not that i intend to reset my device, just curious world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed the lollipop update and now get constant "unfortunately, the system UI has failed. This happens for a variety of reasons and has rendered my phone pretty much useless for anything other than making a phone call. Most of the other accessories, apps and program either only have limited functionality or are unstable and shut down.
So, What is the best method/process to reset my phone to pre-5.0 and/or to reinstall 5.0
So I've had lollipop since the Dev preview was released and I had less bugs on the preview than the final release. After side loading lollipop my phone randomly restarts itself and goes into loop. It gets to the point that when I try to get into recovery mode I can't make it to the restart boot loader screen without my phone constantly restarting.
Eventually it stops after a few minutes or up to a few hours. When this cycle occurs and I plug it into the charger the cycle gets even worse. My phone was unusable for over 5 hours yesterday. I've tried restoring it but no luck. What do I do !?
This morning my phone locked up and then restarted itself multiple times. It took a few tires to turn back on before it was fully able to. Now that its on, there are no soft keys or notification bar.
Also the screen will not turn on for more than a second or two and the wallpaper has gone away. When I am able to select something I get stuck in that app and can't get out of it without turning my phone off.
Only update that I got recently was the Hangouts one. Outside of a factory wipe, not sure what to do at this point.
I have purchased a 2nd hand Samsung galaxy s5 online. it wont et me access the phone as it is locked due to an abnormal factory reset and is requesting a Samsung account id and log in - clearly I don't have one and it appears it needs to be the previous owners. Is there a way around this in order to access the phone?
