I can have full signal bars and 3G service and as soon as I hit the send button to make a call or receive a call all the signal bars and the 3G disappear. I have had poor call quality since I have owned the phone. I traded for this phone, so taking it to verizon for a replacement is not an option. I have done a complete reset on the phone, and verizon has done all they can do as for reprogramming. Has anyone else had this problem?
My iPhone is constantly losing reception. It will go from 4 or 5 bars down to 1 or 2. If I click airplane mode and then unclick it this will solve it, but it's still a problem.Â
I have a Bionic, stock .905 software. Among other things, I make extensive use of the GPS, which until recently was excellent - even post-905 it was extremely accurate, locked almost instantly, etc.Since approximately the leap second (correlation does not not necessarily imply causation, but it's not a bad first guess), GPS has been problematic - much slower locks, longer to get an accurate fix, and fewer satellites (GPS Status often shows 3 or 4 locked, when before it would show at least 8 or 9 locked)When using navigation, it used to lock within a few seconds. Now I'm often driving a mile or two before I have a lock, but once I have a lock, it's working fine. I've tried clearing the cache, re-seating the SIM, multiple power-off and power-on cycles, and verifying that I have the absolute latest AGPS data. I could try a warranty replacement, but there's no point if this is a known issue, especially given the hit-or-miss nature of Verizon's refurbished phones.
My wife updated from a RAZR at the same time I uptated from a 4-5 year old Moto V70. Two new Droid X2's. When camping where we've always camped without any phone issues, on two seperate occasions, she was unable to complete a call to me. On one, the phone rang, I answered, she could hear me but I couldn't hear her so I hung up.
So at first I thought that the Razr had a weak WiFi reception. So I decided to install a WiFi access point in my office, basically on my desk. I connected the Razr to it but yet, it still occasionally shows a low signal or drops the connection completely then reconnects, works for a bit then drops it again. I'm at a point where I had to turn WiFi off on my phone because it was draining my battery so fast from flipping between the Cellular network and WiFi network way to often. I also have a Glaxy Tab 7.0 Plus connected to the same access point and it never drops a connection and it shows 100% strong on the signal.
quite often when I press the power button to just shut the screen off on my Droid X, and then turn it on later, it says that theres no service for a second or two and it then returns to 3g. Is this happening to your Droid X too?
This is happening 2-3 times a day on average where I won't have any data connection at all. Nothing connects data-wise and 3G/1X icon disappears altogether. Never happened before GB update. Simple reboot restores the data connection.
One of the big benefits of these phones is the ability to stay on top of email. I have a yahoo account and I have it loaded into my messaging app. Over the year that I've had this phone my yahoo occasionally has become deathly silent. Of coarse the android is not updating or even connecting to my account. This happened on average every couple of months. I've done a few things to try to get it back including deleting and reloading the account, updating the android os, messing with email settings. It usually eventually comes back on its own...within a couple of days. Its now getting to the point where I lose connectivity every week or two and its gone for that much time. This is really annoying and I don't keep on top of my emails nearly as effectively. I need to fix this. I'm not seeing alot of posts with the same issue though.
Over the past week, or so, I have been experiencing intermittent losses of data and phone service. This issue has been magnified over the past few days. Initially, I thought it was a result of an early season snowstorm, that more or less, crippled my state (Connecticut), and since I am a power utility engineer, as you can imagine, I have been on the phone quite a bit. As we moved closer to full electric restoration, I am seeing that this isn't an issue brought on by inclement weather, but by a software/hardware glitch.
when i go into the market just for the heck of it, it's fine.
when i get an update notice, and go in from that icon, it shows me "google maps", "kindle", and "Internet".
i uninstalled the market and it was fine. (it ended up re-updating itself at some point later.) it happened again. i went into manage apps and cleared the data, and it was fine.
This is sort of an addendum to my discussion topic below - "Razr Reception in weak-signal areas." I've noticed that in a couple of places in the house and the far corners of our farm where the phone signal is sometimes spotty, I can always, ALWAYS get a good, solid, strong voice when I put it on speaker. If I turn speaker off and hold it up near my ear - even an inch or two away, I lose the connection instantly. Just a data point.
Both my wife's razr maxx and mine lose sound for media like play music, games and even stock music player at random times when the issue occurs. Only way I get it back is either restart the phone or if I go to menu>system settings>sound>sounds and turn ringtone volume all the way down and back up again. I thought is was just my phone but my wife complained about it to me and showed her what I do to get it back. I already did a FDR after ICS update.
Since Verizon had their 4g issues the other day I have noticed that i keep losing my data connection. I can still make phone calls but can't get on line. I will watch as my data connection goes from 4g to 3g to nothing as i am standing in the same spotI am just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue? I have used about 10 gigs this month but i don't think i am getting throttled ( if Verizon even does that).
I've tried calling Verizon, but they won't open a ticket because of a known issue with the .173 update, but everytime I enter a extended network area, I quickly lose data connection. It seems like I hear of quite a few people in my area having this problem. Verizon pushed a hybrid PRL to my phone and the PRL version went from 15098 to 13014. Am I going to just have to wait till they actually send someone to fix a local tower or is this something nation wide?
Occasionally, I will lose both the wired and bluetooth headphones. My bluetooth headphones will work for the phone, but not for game or music player audio. When I disconnect the headphones, the speaker works fine. When I reconnect them, I still get nothing, but again, after disconnecting, the speaker works.Rebooting the phone corrects the issue. The best I can relate this to is muting the phone during a meeting.I have use the volume rocker and my "Volume Control" app.If I mute it, and put it back quickly, it works. It's when I've had it muted for an hour or so that I see the problem.
I recently moved to a basement apartment and have trouble with reception - too much concrete i guess. Anyone know a way of boosting reception on a Blackberry Bold to get better reception quality in such a situation?
I need help getting cell tower reception on my phone. Using China Unicom as Network Carrier. I am located in Guangzhou China (a major metropolis). The problem is not with the SIM Card itself because it has been tested and placed in other phones & it works well. Reception Bars fluctuate between 0-2 bars at most, both in and outdoors.Have noticed these problems since upgrading the phone to IOS 5.0 & now also on 5.1.1. No problem with Wi-Fi Networks. I have also tried Resetting the Network & taking out the SIM Card and putting it back in, but this has not helped.
Info: iPhone 3GS, iOS 5.1.1, Model MC637ZA Serial 83028W5VEDG
I only live 1 1/2 miles from an AT&T tower and the reception I get with my Iphone is horrible, dropped calls and the signal is 1 to 2 bars. I would like to hear from someone that is using an Atrix HD phone that is at least 1 1/2 miles from a tower and find what kind of reception you are getting before I spend $450.00 to purchase this phone and find that I am know better than with the Iphone.
Over the past two weeks I've tried three different Atrix phones and two different SIM cards, but I still have poor reception, especially indoors. The current signal strength readings are: -113 dB, ecno: -18, rat: 3g. At the AT&T store, which is right next to a cell tower, their demo Atrix has -52 dB signal, while mine varies between -62 dB and -88 dB. They tell me not to worry about the signal strength unless I'm dropping calls, but conversations are often unintelligible even though they're not dropped.
I got the Photon because of the raving reviews of signal strength. I'm finding that the signal is weaker and tends to roam more than my Palm pre. Is this normal for a PHOTON? I would rarely roam at work before but find the photon signal roams alot. Is there a setting or something I can do? Maybe a bad phone? My home signal also tends to wildely fluctuate between one bar and five bars.
My Atrix was working just fine for the past month, and this morning all of a sudden I'm not getting ANY signal/reception. I can't make phone calls nor send texts. Sometimes the signal comes back but it's just for 2 or 3 minutes and then the signal is completely gone again. When I plug the SIM card into another phone it works just fine so that rules out AT&T's problem. Wi-fi works just fine. I factory reset the phone but the problem still exists. I am already out of the 30-day return/exchange policy, what can I do? Is this problem going to be fixed for the next update?
Screen shot shows when my phone is completely out of signal.
My phone has multiple resets ad the direction of Motorola, and has been in for a circuit board replacement. Now the screen still freezes and the reception is hopeless.I am sure this handset is a lemon. It is still under warranty, 11 months old.
I've had my Atrix since May 2011 and 3 times now it has completely wiped my calendar.I've looked through the forums on here but all I can find is the suggestion that syncing to gmail may be the problem. However, I am fairly certain that I have set everything to NOT sync with googlemail etc, as I do not use calendars anywhere but on my phone. Could I have missed something which means my phone is trying to sync with an empty calendar somewhere - but if so I would have expected it to do this more than 3 times in as many months?
i've owned an Atrix now for about a month and very time i save events and appointments to the calender within a couple of days they all dissapear the data gone.
I've recently noticed that my xoom is losing connection to the web. In the lower right it says that I have a 3g signal, but none of the apps or browser can connect. After a manual reboot it seems to work again. I never saw this before sending it in for the 4g upgrade. Also this seems to be happening a couple times a day
I regularly lose song files on the 32GB MicroSDHC card (Class 10) in my Atrix 2. They disappear without a trace, and without notice of any kind. I've been checking my music directory regularly with a file explorer app, and I've noticed that they tend to disappear whenever minor changes are made to the SD card (mounting/unmounting the card, connecting to my PC, adding new files to the card, revising existing files, etc.). I've tried using different SD cards, different PC connection methods (MotoHelper and USB Mass Storage), but nothing seems to work.
Is Android 2.3.5 not reading the card properly? I don't see the point of using an SD card with this phone if I can't guarantee that the files will stay accessible.
It seems like many times when I plug my phone into a USB cable attached to my laptop (which is my normal method for charging it), charge the phone, and then detach the phone from the cable, I have to go back through and reassign personal tones for SMS messages and email accounts. Every sound has defaulted back to my default phone ringtone, and when I go back into my sound settings, my default notification says "unknown notification". If I tap on it to hear what sound it is, it plays my default ringtone. I monitor 8 email accounts and assign different notification sounds for each one. I also have personal SMS sounds for any texts from my wife or ESPN. It's annoying when I disconnect my USB cable to have to go back through everything and reassign these different tones.
Just some notes: ***This problem only seems to happen when I leave the phone connected to the USB cable for an extended period of time (such as overnight) or when I have copied some files from my laptop to my phone's SD card***All of my sounds are stored on my SD card. This problem acts as if the phone loses any mappings to files on the SD card if it is connected as a mass storage device for an extended period of time***I use the built-in email program for monitoring all my email accounts***My default USB computer connection is selected as Mass Storage since MotoCast and ZumoCast are not supported by the Electrify 2
I have a Microcell in my office. The 3G and EDGE signal is -100 or worse, so there's no conflict there. The wifi signal in my office is low, ~-80db, and often disconnects/reconnects. Every once in a while my Atrix (stock gingerbread) loses the microcell connection completely and continues to have no network connection. The wifi connection stays connected though. I have to enable and then disable airplane mode to get the connection back up.
