Motorola Defy :: Camera And Camcorder Only Working After Restart For Little Bit
Nov 13, 2011
My camera and camcorder don't work, I take a photo with the camera and it does all the right things but does not save the image, the camcorder pushes you out of the camcorder screen when you push the record button and back to the home screen, I have tried to clear the Cache data under phone settings. If I turn the phone off and on again it works fine for a little bit but I shouldn't have to do this everytime I want to take a photo or movie.
All of a sudden neither app will open. After hitting either icon, the phone pauses a couple of seconds, and then blanks out the screen. It then sits like that indefinitely.
Since the software upgrade about a wek ago (4.5.621.MB810.Verizon.en.US), neither my camera nor camcorder work. When is Motorola going to fix this issue? And no, I'm NOT going to do a factory reset for a problem THEIR software caused.
Since the beginning, the camera/video functions have been sketchy. The camcorder would work about half the time. Then (unrelated, I think) my SD card blew out. I got a new, better SD Card (32G, class 4), and suddenly, my camera/video was working much better. THEN, a few months later, both completely siezed up. The camera app would start, but in seconds, it would lock up, the picture display would lock, and I couldn't do anything. Same goes for the camcorder app. So, I then downloaded and tried out a few camera apps from the Play Store. all of which worked.
I just installed the update on my phone and now the camera is not working correctly. It will takes a photo but the photo will not show up on the screen - it's just black. The camcorder function works fine.
I got a notification to update my phone, so I downloaded the update and installed it, all good so far, but now that I have tried to use my camera the flash isnt working in sync with the shutter. The flash goes off too soon and the pictures turn out too dark, now I have checked what settings I could think of including the auto flash and etc, but it refuses to flash at the right time! I have noticed other differences with the update but I can get used to those.. not a big drama, but I really liked my camera the way it used to be... but in saying that I would prefer not to master reset as the other changes are ok.
I bought mini (without contract, from turkey) 3-4 weeks ago. Today the phone started to slow down while listening to music. When I start on it again, it halted. Temperature increases, it stays on a blue screen. By removing and reinserting the battery, I tried a few times, nothing has changed.
I have a my Defy & XT and as of 9:22 am the weather widget hasn't udated and I've turned the phone off and on etc and then I deleted my location and tried to readd it and it said something like.. location information cannot be found (not sure off hand).. I don't know what to do but it won't let me add any loactions but apps from the market work.
I just got my Iphone 4 but I noticed when taking video the camera tend to zoom in more by default versus the camera default. Is this normal? ON my 3GS the video and camcorder zoom are at the same level.
it says could not start the camera. close other applications and try opening the camera again when i try to open the camera and when i try to open the cam corder says another application is using the camera. Cannot start video camera viewfinder.
Just loaded 2.2.2 onto my Singapore region Defy. The OS upgrades are fantastic! My default camera now has a repositionable focus box!
Only problem is that it does not focus at all! Moving the box around does absolutely nothing! Additionally, if I use the flash, it just takes a all black photo!?
My Motorola Defy display's the camera upside down on screen... I have tried everything to try and fix this including going to the cellphone store I got it from and they did a hardware reset on it to no avail
My Droid takes pictures, but once the preview of the picture disappears off the screen, it saves in the gallery as blackness. When I turn the phone off and back on, the "pictures" are gone entirely. This just started happening a moment ago.
After last upgrade to 2.2.2 I see the following problem: when flash is triggered while taking a photo the result is a completely black picture; when no flash is used photo is fine. I have rebooted the phone but it does not help.
(very low) noise similar to a rotating motor. It seems its the camera motor noice. My question is that is it normal to hear such sound or something is worng with my camera hardware. This sound is coming siince I have purchased the mobile, but never took it serously though I am afraid now if its a hardware problem. Also is there any way to improve the image quality, I can see that the by default Android camera app store all the images with 90% quality, can we make it 100%.
I've recently bought a Defy+. Now that can hear a flickering noise when I turn on the camera. I tried tweaking the settings and everything but the problem is still there.
I recently upgraded my defy (with optus) to android 2.2 and haven't had many issues.
One thing that bugs me is when i take images with my camera now, they don't appear in the gallery. The small diplay on the bottom left displays the image but as soon as i click on it to view the image it appears to delete it.
I seem to have lost the autofocus on the camcorder app - it doesn't want to autofocus or "continus" focus. Both choices do nothing. The camera will focus, but the camcorder just sits there at whatever default... Worked fine for awhile after a reset, but seems to have suddenly stopped again. No amount of power cycling changes anything. I had ATK running, tried stopping that at startup, no effect. Only have few other apps installed, such as Rhapsody.Any advice other than another reset? ...Not really wanting to 'root' it just for a different camera/camcorder app, that seems a little extreme. Tried an "MIUI" app, but it seemed out of date, and wouldn't autofocus on camcorder either.........Only other (BAD) glitch, which forced me to do factory reset, was inability to remove "corporate" email acct. after adding/removing/adding - it was "stuck" somehow and would not let me remove it. I have since removed it successfully after the reset, but have gone with "Touchdown" for email.Other than the camcorder bug, and the email client glitch, it's a solid device!
My defy (Im in Australia) has just suddenly stopped taking photos. It goes through the motions and the flash still works and everything but when you goto the photo in the gallery its just a plain black image, there is no photo!
whenever i open camera it says "unexpected error occured restart phone"and camera not working i have done hard reset too but still getting the same error message?
The GPS does not appear to be working on my Defy. I've tried using it with google maps and gps test, and I'm not getting any signal or active satellites.
I have tested the Defy+ Hot spot on 3 phones now and none are working. Previously had no problems with an HTC model. All updates are current. Anyone have any ideas as how I can get this to work. Was the major requirement of a smartphone for me.
My battery powered down while recording and now I can not open the recorded file. It is in the file but an error message shows when I try to playback. Is there a way to get the file to play?
I have a Motorola Defy (not blur though as it is the global version) running on Moto approved Android 2.2. I am really struggling. My Gmail app simply wont do push delivery. It takes like 40 - 60 minutes to receive my email. I have tried everything now. I have removed my gmail account and added it again. My background data is enabled and my battery and data saver is switched off. I have tried using the "Email" app but it does the same thing.
It is not my carrier as my internet is working perfectly. [URL]
I am getting rather dishearted as my gmail used to work great on my blackberry (phone before I got my Defy) and now this just seems like such a let down. In general I am loving my Defy..but the email is turning out to be a big dissapointment.
Today morning i checked my Motorola Defy and found out that the one of the 4 standard touch semsitive button which is the menu button does not have any lights.
I am having problems using Visual Voicemail on my Defy.
I am using it through the 3G network and keep getting the Welcome to T-Mobile Visual Voicemail setup screen. When I press nex,t the following message appears "No response from server. Please make sure that you have connection to the data network and try again. I have the latest android version 2.2.1.
