Motorola Atrix 2 :: 7 Digit Dialing Prefixing 617 Area Code?
Feb 4, 2012Since the update, whenever I try to manually dial a 7-digit phone number, the phone is automatically prefixing a 617 area code to the number its dialing.

View 13 RepliesI have received a few phone calls within the past couple years where my called ID shows only "716" rather than the full number "716-xxx-xxxx". These calls were from mostly cell phones.
Is there away I can toggle this on... On my phone? Droid Turbo 1.
I don't need it all the time but it would be useful when making working calls when on the road so that they don't have my personal cell # and nobody ever answers " unknown" so *67 isnt the key.
I also am not really interested in spoofing my number with a fake one or creating a Google voice (or similar account) and then having two phone #'s to worry about.
I have a problem when replying to text messages. Even thought I have the area code entered in the contact the message comes back that it can't be sent and shows no area code. I don't want to have to reset to factory settings.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA 2nd atrix in my house recently had a keyboard issue which prevented using the keyboard in the portrait mode. It responded but not correctly. Eagle328 suggested downloading another keyboard, which solved the keyboard use problem so that we can at least use it in portrait mode.
We have now realized that a specific area of the display on all home screens is "dead."
That is, if you divided the screen into 5 equal sections from top to bottom, the second section does not respond anywhere from left to right of that section.
Example 1: if you had your home page filled with app icons, you would have 20 icons. In the second row of icons (from the top), not one of the 4 would respond. All others would act normally.
Example 2: If you had 4 notifications and you pulled the screen down, you could tap the first one, the third one, and the fourth one and get a response...but the 2nd one would not respond because it ends up in that second section of the screen.
I'm thinking it is time to take the phone to the AT&T store, but wanted to throw this out first. As with most of you, this phone is used for business, and would be extremely inconvenient to take into town,... but afraid it may be that time.
Does anyone have any recommendations to improve the reception (and thus prevent excessively frequent dropped calls) while using my Atrix 4G in a fringe reception area outside of San Diego? Some background info:I had an AT&T Nokia 6030 for almost five (5) years before upgrading my service to the Atrix.I live and work from the same location, which has not changed during those five years.I did not encounter the problems of dropping calls on the Nokia 6030. I routinely call the very same people at aproxmately the very same times and days of the week with the very same phone numbers from the very same locations in my home and shop... sitting in my office desk chair, standing at my shop workbench, seated at my kitchen table, lying on my bed... and as far as I can telI, nothing on my end or on the other person's end has changed... phone numbers, land or mobile, calling patterns... but ever since I upgraded to the Atrix, I've had this problem consistently from the very first day.
I contacted AT&T many times, and they sent a warranty replacement phone; same resulting performance. The signal strength meter on the phone typically reads 2-3 bars in this area, which AT&T says should be sufficient.)It is so touchy and position/orientation sensitive that I can often drop the call from simply turning my head, or if lying in bed at night, switching the phAT&T went through the entire customer service/tech support gamut with me:Power down recycle, remove & reinstall the battery, replace the original SIM card that came with the Nokia (which still works flawlessly under identical circumstances if I put the SIM card back into it!), run network diagnostics on the tower equipment... they even sent out a crew of field engineers to the property to assess the signal characteristics.
After months of evaluation by the engineering department, they finally determined that the San Diego area is very high in signal strength, and the problem is due to the immediate area where I am located... hills, valleys, canyons, etc. There was nothing more that they could do. That was simply the level of performance I had to accept from this phone in this location. (Sorry.)I still don't know why the primitive technology in that old Nokia doesn't miss a beat. I find it hard to accept that the flagship product with advanced technology can't perform anywhere near as well as this dated Nokia. But I like the Atrix so much in every other way, I would even pay for a stationary antenna and/or signal conditioning/amplification equipment at my location to be able to use it here.
I have not found any such equipment offered for sale by either Motorola or AT&T listed on their websites. I know that there are aftermarket companies that sell such items, but I would really like to know if anyone has any specific experience with those items, particularly when used with the Atrix, or at least any reason to advise in one way or another toward a solution.

I have a Samsung Code from MetroPCS. I am running Windows Mobile 6.5. I have searched everywhere and can not find my 16 digit security code. I can tell you it is not the following codes.
01F2030F5F678FF9

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
0000000000000000
Does anyone know another code? Is there a method someone could help me with so I can find it?
I upgraded the firmware on my N97 to 2.1 the other day and have had no problems since. This evening, after a reboot (no new software installed), it won't allow me to enter my 5 digit lock code. The keys are unresponsive. I've tried removing the battery etc..., but it's still the same. I want to avoid a hard reset if possible, as there is some info that is not backed up.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi get a voicemail and will use the notification bar voicemail notification to dial and listen to my voicemail, It will dial and connect and play my voicemail, but while in this call: I can slide up and down the notifcation bar, but any other input is simply ignored. The 4 home buttons on the bottom work, the finger print reader works but I can't select power off, I can't hangup the call since all main screen input is simply ignored. Once the voicemail call times out due to no input, and disconnects the call, the phone turns back to normal operations: I can select apps, widgets on the main portion of the screen. When I simply go to the dialer and select the voicemail entry in my phonebook or hold down the '1' key, the phone will call my voicemail and I can do/use all functions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to call out to anyone, there can be a delay of 1 - 1 1/2 MINUTES between when I hit the call button and when the "Dialing" screen comes up. At first I thought this might be because of my Google Voice settings but that doesn't appear to be the case. I've changed the settings to every option and even turned it off completely but still have the same effect. Doesn't matter if I dial using the quick dial widgets or the contacts directory either.

I can't find any information on how to get back into that menu.
By the way, yes, I tried the last 4 digits of the phone number, 0000, 9999, 1234.If anyone knows how to get into the service menu on this phone
The only codes I've found so far are:##786# which gets into an info menu but doesn't have the lock code.##33284# which requires a 6-digit security code which I don't know.
I down loaded theAT&T Code reader, but when I go to a QR code, it tries to find the website but always comes back "Website unavaible" but I can get it on my daughter's I-phone ....
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased this MB886 from AT&T but never activated it with them. I went with Consumer Cellular since they do not have a contract requirement. My Sim card from Consumer Cellular worked with the phone but no other carrier Sim card will since it is locked. AT&T does not have the code to unlock this phone since I did not activate it with them. Motorola still has the code and they will not give it to me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had two Atrix phones since March of this year. The first one was replaced for an issue unrelated to the topic of this post. Both of these devices demonstrated the following behavior:
Approximately every 15 to 25 power cycles, when the Motorola logo starts to animate the phone's LED will begin to blink in one of several colors. It stops blinking when the Motorola logo disappears. The blinking color is most often violet-purple. However, on at least three occasions I've seen it blink light blue and on one occasion it was blinking red.
The blinking LED at this stage of system initialization appears to be a color coded reporting mechanism to indicate a particular state of the phone (perhaps a failure code reporting feature). I'm guessing it's similar to the POST beep codes that a personal computer emits shortly after powered on to indicate such things as device failures, driver loading issues, or configuration problems.
I would like to know what these colors mean during this stage of the phone's booting process. That is, when I see the flashing LED during the Motorola logo animation, I want to know which part of the system is failing. There's no information on the web (including within this forum) that I've been able to locate on this and Motorola technical phone support personnel seem oblivious to the fact that this blinking color reporting even exists.
how to learn what these codes mean? As I've mentioned, both of my Atrix phones have demonstrated this behavior, so I presume all Atrix phones are equipped to demonstrate it as well under certain conditions. It's hard to imagine that Motorola engineers would have implemented a feature like this and then provided no information to anyone about what the color codes mean to make the feature useful.

I need to get this number fast, but I don't know which one is the actual "serial number". Motorola's Servie and Repair area requires the Mac Address, which I thought was the unique serial number, only problem is it's 12 digits, not 16. I also have the box here too, with the bar codes and numbers on the side as well.Is there anywhere not on the Xoom that has the 16 digit serial number? Or am I to combine some of the strings of number

How can I stop all incoming calls from being prefixed by the USA "1-" code?
Because of this they are not showing up the callers Name by matching the phone number with the "1-" to the one without the "1-" stored in the address book database.
I dont think the right answer is to save all contacts with a "1-" in the address book, since you dont dial that way....
Is anyone having trouble with speed dialing?
I get USSD Dialing then a "Unknown Code" error
When I try playing a game, particularly racing games where you have to hold down a button on the screen, the screen will become unresponsive in the one spot. Then after a second or two it will become responsive again, then unresponsive again. The process repeats the entire game. You can test this by downloading a racing game and then holding down the gas button. I experience the car slowing down or coming to a stop from holding down that one area for long periods of time (usually 30 seconds). After about 2 seconds, the screen will become responsive in that area again and the car will speed back up, but then it will become unresponsive again in just a few seconds..
This problem I have noticed will multiple racing games from different developers. Here are two games I notice it the most in: RacingMoto and Top Truck Free.I also posted over at XDA and someone said it has to do with preventing the screen from coming on in your pocket.I was wondering if Motorola is planning on fixing this because Sprint is marketing this phone as the "Gaming Guru's Weapon of Choice". It's a little hard to become a gamer on this phone if the screen becomes unresponsive.
My network / operator name is constantly displayed in the notification area. How do I remove it? None of the previous Android phone I've had have displayed the network name here.
View 6 Replies View RelatedPicking it up this morning I tried entering my security PIN only to find the numbers weren't registering. The problem? My finger holding the device - while not touching the screen area - was too close and was activating multitouch. Moving my finger out of the way solved the problem though my grip slips away and the device starts to fall out of my hands.
I can't be the only one that finds this tablet hard to hold. And the best part is, there's an easy remedy to the situation: give us the option to change the active screen area (e.g. shrink it by a certain number of pixels in order to give us more room to hold it). Even without changing anything else in Honeycomb this is still doable, yet I fear it will never become a reality.
Am I the only one who wants to see them let us shrink the touchable area of the screen so we can hold it better?
I started to download the daily free app from amazon when for some reason it failed. Now the amazon icon is stuck in the upper left part of the phone in the "notification" area. How do you get rid of this. I even went back and downloaded the app again then deleted it. It annoying the heck out of me.how to remove the icon?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI previously owned a HTC Windows Mobile phone that consistently showed 3G connectivity in certain areas not covered by Verizon. Now, I own the RAZR, and when in the same areas, the phone will not connect at 3G, but only at 1x, which really sucks down the battery, not to mention being totally unusable for any data needs.I realize that LTE/4G is only in the Verizon footprint, but I would expect to still be able to connect at 3G speed when in these non-Verizon locations.
