After weeks with the update I've noticed that my wifi reception seems to be pretty spotty. I know it's not my router because all my other devices have maintained the same performance as they always have. Most of the time I get half the signal I used to but sometimes I get no signal at all until I restart.
View 13 RepliesHer phone was perfect before doing the updates. Now, she claims the BT just turns off and won't turn back on (in the car, connected to the car audio system). I looked at her phone the other day and sure enough, BT and WIFI were both OFF, and when I tried to turn them on, it said something like "Sorry, can't to that right now. Try again later.". Turned off phone and turned back on, and it's fine...for a while, then does the same thing.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have now sent my WP8.1/CYAN LUMIA 1020 to repair (been without a phone for 1 week). All Nokia Service Repair center was to downgrade phone from CYAN to BLACK and said the issue was done. I am not happy with this solution. My camera dies after upgrading to CYAN update.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using an unlocked ATT 1020 on Tmobile and when I enabled internet sharing, it would tell me to call 611 and request the feature from ATT. But if I disabled LTE, tethering would work and then I could re-enable it. Now, with cyan, the phone recognizes that it's going through tmobile, but states that I don't have the mobile hotspot service (I do have it) and takes me to a message to upgrade my plan. When I click upgrade, it takes me to a page to call Tmobile. Upon calling them, after dealing with someone who swore my plan didn't include tethering (it certainly does), I got transferred to someone else.
After some steps and some research on their side, I was told that the only thing that made sense was that when I changed my plan to a higher data plan (recently, where I was assured nothing would change except the amount of data), the system saw that my phone was not a Tmobile one and kicked tethering off. She stated that there was no way to manually re-add it because it just kicks it off again. For the record, all of the other phones on my plan still work with tethering (one other phone is a non-tmobile iphone). Also, a friend of mine has a 1520.3 on the same plan and cyan actually made internet sharing work when it wasn't working before. So confused and frustrated.
I don't know if this was actually something cyan changed or if it really was the plan change, because I believe the last time I tried internet sharing was before both changes. I want to try my sim card in a pre-cyan, non-tmobile WP and see what happens.
Prior to the Cyan update the uploading from camera roll or just after a pic was very fast. Now it opens the Facebook page when you upload and if you leave the page it stops uploading.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter receiving the Cyan and 8.1 update (weeks ago), anytime I edit an office document with my 1020 which resides on OneDrive, I am then unable to open it again on my PC. I receive the following:
This has happened with Word and Excel documents.Edit and save went fine, with no errors or upload issues.Both times, the document originated on my PC (Win8.1, Office 2013), and I edited & saved on my 1020.I don't really care about whether it happens when a document originates on my phone, as I really need to edit existing documents on the go.
As I continue testing this issue, I'm beginning to think more and more that this is a buggy PC Office update, and not something with Cyan/8.1.
I own a lumia 800. The local FM radio reception is really weak on the phone, even when outdoors. While other phones such as xperia and galaxy sii play FM very clearly, this phone is grainy at best. What could be the reason behind this? Should I get the phone checked for hardware issues or is the Zune software at fault.

Today I left my phone at home, I didn't use it and when I tried to pick it up I actually got scared, it was so extremely hot that I thought it will explode. After few seconds I got warning that battery is low but I know that it was around 70% when iI left it(I've left it only for 1 hour). I turned it off so it could cold before I charge it.

My phone will pair just fine to my '13 Subaru Impreza, does not remain paired after shutting off the car and restarting. Seems to have lost it somehow.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new n86 a few days ago but I found that the signal recertion is really very very low in some places compared to a nokia n70.At the time an n70 (or many other phones) has 7 bars , an n86 has NO bars (out of network coverage)That's a very frustrating problem, Can this problem be fixed? I dont have one in my house, and public wi-fi's are slower than my mobile internet so it's gonna take ages. Is it possible to update your phone without wi-fi? In FAQ on windowsphone.com it only recommends to have a wi-fi and doesnt say it's necessary.
View 24 Replies View RelatedAfter months of no problems my Lumia 1020 is suddenly misbehaving: the cell signal strength is fluctuating all over the place, from no service to 5 bars, sometimes it even switches to Edge. It will stay at a given strength for a while (tens of seconds) and then change.
Some symptoms:
- I'm using it on Straight Talk (AT&T towers), but I see the same thing with a T-Mobile sim.
- The same two sim cards work fine in my old iPhone 4
- It keeps happening as I bike around town, so it's not just an area with weak signal
- A soft reset doesn't fix it.
- I'm running WP8.1 Dev Preview, latest update (I think that's update 3?)
- Everything else works (wifi, bluetooth)

I got the Photon because of the raving reviews of signal strength. I'm finding that the signal is weaker and tends to roam more than my Palm pre. Is this normal for a PHOTON? I would rarely roam at work before but find the photon signal roams alot. Is there a setting or something I can do? Maybe a bad phone? My home signal also tends to wildely fluctuate between one bar and five bars.

When you were playing music, the artist picture would show on the tile and then have the name of the artist running across the tile. Looked really nice and smooth.
Since the update though there is nothing. The tile just shows the headphones...
This is sort of an addendum to my discussion topic below - "Razr Reception in weak-signal areas." I've noticed that in a couple of places in the house and the far corners of our farm where the phone signal is sometimes spotty, I can always, ALWAYS get a good, solid, strong voice when I put it on speaker. If I turn speaker off and hold it up near my ear - even an inch or two away, I lose the connection instantly. Just a data point.

Defining Internet Connections:
On the Start screen, swipe left Tap "Settings" Go to "Wi-Fi" Make sure that "Wi-Fi networking" is enabled Select the connection that you wish to use
To use a mobile data connection:
On the Start screen, swipe left and go to "Settings" Tap "cellular" Switch "Data connection" to "On"
Starting just in recent days, whenever I try to connect to a WiFi network I get the message "Can't Connect. The WiFi network <network name> didn't respond. Try again later."
Other devices, including other Windows Phones, are connecting to these networks no problems.
I have a black lumia 1020. During the initial set up after I press 'next' from the welcome screen I am afterwards asked to sign into my MS account. It does not ask me to first connect to a wifi network. Due to this I can't sync all my backed up information. I know with my lumia 920, out of the box with no sim card inside I was asked to connect to wifi before being asked for a MS account. Is this an issue with the lumia 1020, not being able to sync with a back up file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my Nokia Lumia 1020 was upgraded to 8.1 via Preview for Developers a few months ago and Wi-Fi/Cellular data was fine. I updated to Lumia Denim at one time and for some reason, Wi-Fi did not work. I tried using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool 2.1.1 and Wi-Fi still did not work. Then I downgraded from Denim to Cyan, and Wi-Fi still didn't work. I tried the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (same version) again, and Wi-Fi did not work.
In addition, I tried adding my Wi-Fi as a hidden network. Still didn't work. By the way, my Wi-Fi is WPA2-PSK, and I have AES encryption.
So here are some specs of my Lumia 1020:

I want to get either the 1020 or the 1520 but they are at&t exclusives. Can I get a lumia 1020 or 1520 without a plan and use it WiFi only like an iPod touch. Is a sim required during the start up process? If a sim is not required, will I be able to use all the preloaded apps and get updates even if it is not activated with a wireless network?
