View 1 RepliesHow to connect to my company's WPA2 Enterprise WiFi. I have tried this multiple times and it never gives me the option of inputting my username and password for my network.
Steps I took: Settings--Wi-Fi--Advanced--hitting the "+" at the bottom of the page--entering the name of my Enterprise network--it asks for my password BUT it never prompts me for my username, which is required to log in.
Before it's asked: I have the latest firmware installed on my phone. This network has allowed multiple iPhones to connect and an old HTC incredible phone.
Starting just in recent days, whenever I try to connect to a WiFi network I get the message "Can't Connect. The WiFi network <network name> didn't respond. Try again later."
Other devices, including other Windows Phones, are connecting to these networks no problems.
So my Nokia Lumia 1020 was upgraded to 8.1 via Preview for Developers a few months ago and Wi-Fi/Cellular data was fine. I updated to Lumia Denim at one time and for some reason, Wi-Fi did not work. I tried using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool 2.1.1 and Wi-Fi still did not work. Then I downgraded from Denim to Cyan, and Wi-Fi still didn't work. I tried the Windows Phone Recovery Tool (same version) again, and Wi-Fi did not work.
In addition, I tried adding my Wi-Fi as a hidden network. Still didn't work. By the way, my Wi-Fi is WPA2-PSK, and I have AES encryption.
So here are some specs of my Lumia 1020:
OS version: 8.10.14226.359
Firmware revision number: 3051.50009.1451.1001
Model: NOKIA 909
Carrier: AT&T
Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update
I'm having some weird issues with the WIFI connections when my phone is on airplane mode. I can't connect to both of my home WIFI - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both of the SSIDs are not being displayed at all, until I turned off airplane mode. However, both my Nexus 7 (2013) and HTC One are working fine with their airplane modes. Is this some crazy limitations of Windows Phone again?

However, I have a few clients that a visit regularly that use hidden WIFI networks or networks that do not broadcast. These normally have to be setup manually on the device, but I can't find anywhere in Windows 10 phone settings to deal with a manual wifi connection setup?

Wifi working fine as other devices are connected and working well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a lumia 1320 and have a wifi router in my home...it was all fine and it was connecting well with the router..
yesterday i went to the store for some other problem and flashed the mobile..
Now am not able to connect to the wifi...
"can't connect:the wifi network didn't respond"
But when i tried connecting my friends mobile...it worked.the problem is with my lumia 1320...
Don't know if it's just me, but occasionally I'll get my Wi-Fi tab (in Action Center and Settings) reporting that networks are "available" but it can't connect to any. Even my own network to which I connect all the time.
I have discovered that after a Reboot everything is back to normal. Wi-Fi connects fine.
I seem to have isolated it to when you leave a premises still connected Wi-Fi and let it drop-off you get this behaviour.
But surely you shouldn't have to turn Wi-Fi off every time you leave a place!!!
Is there a known issues with the 950XL (or Win 10 in general) regarding wifi stability. My 950XL refuses to stay connected to the 5.0GHz wifi network. After reboot it will find and connect to the network fine, but after about 10 to 15 minutes the connection drops. When I go to the available wifi list, all the 5.0 GHz networks are missing and only the 2.4 GHz ones are offered. The only way I have found to get the phone to find the 5.0 GHz ones was forcing a reboot.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have strange issue with my phone.
Calls on my phone drop almost certainly when I'm on 2G network. When on 3G this rarely ( or almost never) happens.
Same sim card works very well in other phones. This is issue is just on 2G network. I do not get 3G network every where so i cannot ignore this issue.
Nokia care unit says this phone might have hardware issue and quoting about same amount of repairs of cost of new phone. They claim this needs to be sent to factory for repairs.( this phone is out of warranty in region where I am using it).
So my Lumia 1020 ran out of battery for the first time since I have owned it yesterday, no problem I will simply charge it.
Then on boot it loads the Access Point screen asking me to pick my network (EE already chosen which is correct)... not a problem but why has it done this? It does this whenever I turn the phone off and on again...
I have tried to connect my lumia 1020 to PC and it's not recgonize it's connect only as charger .. it was good but now i didn't know what happen .. i tried all things likes :
restart my phone
restart my pc
install windows phone app ( didn't recgonize phone as connected )
My Nokia Lumia 1020 will NOT connect to my surface pro 2. I have looked high and low on the internet for a solution. The problem in my opinion lies in the detection and installation of the drivers to the SP2. It plugs in and charges but the computer doesn't detect that there has been anything plugged in. Nothing shows up in file explorer or device manager. But my old Lumia 920 was recognized. Here are a few of the different solutions that I have tried and have fail to fix my problem.
Soft reset when plugged in to install the missing drivers (failed)
Switching different cords to make sure I was using a data cable (failed)
Tried plugging it into multiple different PC's and even a mac (failed)
The stupid phone will not show up anywhere! I am running Windows 10 mobile but I have had this problem in 8.1 for over a year since I bought the phone. This even happened with my first Lumia 1020 I owned when the phone first came out! (Which shattered)
I think the root of the problem lies in the hardware of the phone itself. My guess is the USB port is damaged so it doesn't fully read or something along those lines. It takes a good 5 hour for a charge which seems long to me but I'm not sure.
just upgraded to windows 10. WiFi does not turn on, have cellular signal but no data. so i cant even update if there are any new updates availabe.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI really like the Lumia, but I am really disappointed that I have been unable to print to my wifi printers at home. For the time being I am emailing my things to print to my iPad and then printing from it. Any way to actually print from the phone to a wifi printer directly?
View 7 Replies View Relatedtotal smartphone newbie here, seriously considering the 1020 but had a quick question. If I want to use my wifi instead of cell data, is this the correct setting?
Defining Internet Connections:
On the Start screen, swipe left Tap "Settings" Go to "Wi-Fi" Make sure that "Wi-Fi networking" is enabled Select the connection that you wish to use
To use a mobile data connection:
On the Start screen, swipe left and go to "Settings" Tap "cellular" Switch "Data connection" to "On"
I have a black lumia 1020. During the initial set up after I press 'next' from the welcome screen I am afterwards asked to sign into my MS account. It does not ask me to first connect to a wifi network. Due to this I can't sync all my backed up information. I know with my lumia 920, out of the box with no sim card inside I was asked to connect to wifi before being asked for a MS account. Is this an issue with the lumia 1020, not being able to sync with a back up file?
View 11 Replies View RelatedLumia Black seems to be availible for me, but it wont download because it realy realy wants to have a Wi-Fi connection. I dont have one in my house, and public wi-fi's are slower than my mobile internet so it's gonna take ages. Is it possible to update your phone without wi-fi? In FAQ on windowsphone.com it only recommends to have a wi-fi and doesnt say it's necessary.
View 24 Replies View RelatedLast night, I saw an article about driving mode and thought I'd set it up on my 1020 to try it out. (It would let me stop notifications of texts while I'm driving, but still take Bluetooth calls.)
Today, my phone wouldn't connect to my car's Bluetooth. I decided to disable driving mode as it was obviously causing the problem, but the on/off option was greyed out.
Eventually, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, I decided the only option was to reset the phone to go back to driving mode not being set up. You can imagine what a hassle that was. But the phone still doesn't recognise my car, or, it seems, any other Bluetooth devices.
It is galling, because my new car (a Mini Cooper) doesn't have a Cd player, so Bluetooth is the only way I can play music.
I can't connect my Lumia 1020 to my PC. When I cable it in, I see in device manager under "other device" that the phone is listed with a yellow point. I tried to uninstall it and the replug it in but this does not work. I followed the instructions at: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2749484 but without success. My phone still won't be recognized.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy girlfriend and I went on a big trip around Europe recently, and she has a Lumia 1020 (I have a Lumia Icon). Over the last few months, she has not been able to back up her data, apps, photos, etc. properly. It has been hit or miss.
Now, she wants to connect her phone to her computer to import the photos and videos to her computer. However, connecting her phone does nothing other than charge it. No prompt comes up, no device is recognized, not even in device manager. Nothing happens at all. It only charges.
Microsoft suggested a hard reset of the whole phone. But that would mean losing all of the data she has, including the very important photos from our trip. They suggested to back up to the cloud, but OneDrive backups have been unreliable, as only some of her photos actually get backed up, and when she tries to create a new backup of settings+apps, it gets to 100% and then says there was a problem and fails.
I want to get either the 1020 or the 1520 but they are at&t exclusives. Can I get a lumia 1020 or 1520 without a plan and use it WiFi only like an iPod touch. Is a sim required during the start up process? If a sim is not required, will I be able to use all the preloaded apps and get updates even if it is not activated with a wireless network?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOkay so there's this WiFi network at school. It is unsecured, and my teacher always connects to it. On my iPhone 3G it never shows up, though after I scan for networks using Stumbler (Stumbler says it's not hidden btw) it appears in the settings. So I click on it and it says "Cannot connect" (or something along those lines) and after the third try it disappears again. I tried using SpoofMAC to spoof my mac address to 11:11:11:11:11 and that didn't work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had my phone linked to my home WiFi network, then I switched internet providers and temporarily had different WiFi credentials so I clicked "forget this network." Now I have set up my WiFi with the same SSID and Password as before but my phone won't auto connect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot connect to my wi-fi network. The phone finds it but when I choose it, it simply tells me that it is unable to join the network. I am thinking it is a password issue but the phone never asks me for my password. The wi-fi is locked so it needs a password. I do not have this problem with my laptop or my Ipad so I know the wi-fi network is working correctly. I just can't figure out how to get the phone to ask me for my password. It should do it without any prompting, but for whatever reason it does not.
